How many of those dreadful and fatal things brought back from wars or trade routes. It tells me that where the bacteria "lived" for a long time, the people native to the area developed resistance to it, like when Europe emerged from the great plagues, they carried resistance in their bloodstream. the people of the Americas did not have the plagues, and the resistance was never brought to them. They became patient "zero" in some cases, and not knowing about isolation or the type of care needed to control it, they were wiped down or out by the accident of meeting survivors of deadly diseases. that is just one reason travelers have to take a series of shots to protect them from diseases they have not seen. When people come here, they should be inoculated from diseases they have not been exposed to, or face the risk of dying from diseases they have not experienced.
