@Asutosh Padhy the point is that it's easier to find a cure and stop the bubonic plague. If covid 19 broke out in the middle ages then everyone would get infected and more would have died because the black death was quite an overkill for the middle ages' medicine, while not being easy enough to spread

@@kakashi101able It’s not 4 million dying OF covid is it. Many have got a positive test, died from something completely different and it’s put down as covid. Large majority that die WITH it were dying anyway or had serious health problems. That’s not saying those deaths don’t matter. @@MrSatz99 Ebola is 50%(I think.. I don't remember) though but can only be spread by liquid drops or somethin, I don't listen to my teacher don't blame me.
No the reason the Black Death killed millions of people was because of the medical technology and understanding of viruses and diseases. Plus most of Europe didn’t take up any cleaning and most of the time would throw there trash in the streets and defecate as they would please anywhere
I feel like it's worth mentioning that for the surviving peasants and their children, the quality of life actually went up in a lot of ways. Although the prospect of tens of millions dying is horrible, it played a significant part in moving society forward and dismantling feudalism.
Yersenia pestis (the Black Plague) was passed on by fleas from both humans AND rats! Researchers have investigated the triggers for historic plagues and discovered that many were preceded by weather anomalies that caused famines -- incidents such as volcanoes and unusual climate events that led to massive crop failure around the world. When crops failed people migrated to cities. But the failed crops caused rodents to starve, and the rodents -- carrying the fleas that lived on them -- followed the humans who had always been a source of food. Yersenia pestis is endemic in wilderness rodent populations-- several cases of bubonic plague are reported every year among humans living in the deserts of the American southwest and Asia. But when rats and mice carry highly contagious diseases into cities they can be triggers for the plagues our ancestors experienced. Starvation had weakened people and made them vulnerable to disease, and a lack of hygiene (open sewers, high-density housing, no understanding of germ theory) virtually guaranteed at least 50% death rate when plague struck.
Many Norwegian last names comes from farms. If you worked on a farm (which most people did back then) then your last name would be the name of the farm you were working on. Because of the Black Death, many Norwegians today has the last name "Ødegård", which translates to "Deserted farm"
Well it would die out quickly but there are still people who might get infected and can have severe symptoms, mostly the people who are isolated from society

4 million deaths is a lot of people. I wouldn't compare it to the black plague nor the Spanish flu. But I would compare the deaths to the Asian Flu 1957. Which claimed around 4 million worldwide.
@@kakashi101able It’s not 4 million dying OF covid is it. Many have got a positive test, died from something completely different and it’s put down as covid. Large majority that die WITH it were dying anyway or had serious health problems. That’s not saying those deaths don’t matter. Tens of thousands die every month and it’s sad but It’s like people only ever care about covid now.

Is it me or does this seem to much like the Coronavirus? Italy was worst affected, started in China?
Yes
No the reason the Black Death killed millions of people was because of the medical technology and understanding of viruses and diseases. Plus most of Europe didn’t take up any cleaning and most of the time would throw there trash in the streets and defecate as they would please anywhere
This is nothing like the coronavirus

When you just wanted to wanted to bite one human and end up killing 1/3 of human

I think it was the infected fleas that bit the humans that caused it, but funny joke.

Many Norwegian last names comes from farms. If you worked on a farm (which most people did back then) then your last name would be the name of the farm you were working on. Because of the Black Death, many Norwegians today has the last name "Ødegård", which translates to "Deserted farm"
cool!

I'm kind of curious that if the plague was to resurface today with modern medicine would it die out quickly or become a big problem again.
Would probably still be a problem but not nearly as much.
Well it would die out quickly but there are still people who might get infected and can have severe symptoms, mostly the people who are isolated from society
Antibiotics.
plague is from bacteria so probably not as bad as viruses
