      10,000,000 lb lifted with 16,000,000 lb of thrust (success, World Record in fact). The rocket plumes are longer than the rocket. Should consider raising or digging for more ground clearance.
      Rocket fuel consist of oxidizer, a lot of rust forth coming. Steel plates are not necessarily expensive, but will need to be replaced over time. Continually added expenses.
      Failed to reach orbit. Far from complete success.

      Annnnd he was wrong. SpaceX shut the first 3 engines off before launching on purpose, and something else caused the rocket to rise on angle.

      @@Chris_Harris That "something else" is those 3 dead engines

    • @Chris_Harris
      @Chris_Harris ปีที่แล้ว

      @@alvianchoiriapriliansyah9882
      Nooo, no it's not. If people would take the time to listen to what Elon and his team have said, they'd know that they decided to shut the 3 off knowing that they wouldn't affect the rocket one bit. They quite literally said that, which makes an hour-long "explanation" WRONG because it's the first bit of information is an ASSUMPTION that three engines "failed," so it caused the rocket to go out of control. Elon was very clear in saying WEEKS ago that the first three missing engines on the Engine-Cam were shut off before they even lit the rocket because they were not running properly AND they were not needed for the rocket to do its job perfectly.
      If we take Zack's assumption out of the mix, this video is completely different because those engines did not fail nor did they cause the rocket to fly sideways. Every thing after an assumption is corrupted data/an assumption too, when you make a video that follows a linear line.
      Example 1.> Car 2 crashes into the back of car 1. We assume the brakes on car 2 must have failed because someone heard a screeching sound. Someone dies in car 1. We assume driver of car 2 is innocent because their brakes failed.
      Alternative and the real truth> Car crashes into the back of another car. Option 1>Brakes didn't fail, driver of car 2 was speeding so they slid into car 1. Option 2> Driver of car 2 was looking at their cellphone and didn't see Car 1 until too late and after they hit the brakes.
      The point to this long example is that nothing after a certain point means anything if any of the proceeding steps are wrong/assumptions. If everyone knows the person was on their cell phone, that person goes to jail for vehicular manslaughter. If everyone assumes that the brakes failed, an innocent person dies and a guilty person doesn't face justice.
      So once Zack assumed 3 engines failed/that the rocket even needed those engines to fly, every single point after that on his timeline of reasons why the surface of the OLM was destroyed is wrong or corrupted. All because he assumed versus waiting for SpaceX to speak about why three engines were DOA.

    • @alvianchoiriapriliansyah9882
      @alvianchoiriapriliansyah9882 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@Chris_Harris The computer would NOT shutted those engines down if it did run properly aka. not fail (because why the fuck it would??), and those three dead engines CAUSES the lean on liftoff (EXPLICIT from Elon). But it did NOT violate the launch commit criteria yes, which is why it...lifted off
      Did you listened to the same Elon spaces as the rest of us?
      "So the lean off the pad, was that intentional? Was it more than you thought it might be? Was it related to the engines out? And do you expect to do that on like future more operational launches?"
      E: *"No, we're not. It WAS RELATED to the engines out, and we do not normally expect to lean.* It should be aspirationally going straight up."
      Now show me the SpaceX/Elon words that completely counter the above, *word by word.* And reply it to me. Pretty please 🙄
      Vocabulary lesson:
      Running properly = not fail
      Not running properly = fail
      Both are NOT interchangeable

    • @Chris_Harris
      @Chris_Harris ปีที่แล้ว

      @@alvianchoiriapriliansyah9882 The computer said there were 3 engines SpaceX chose not to start. "The system didn't think they were healthy enough to launch with." -ELON Tweet
      LOL I wonder why this keeps getting missed is confusing for people like you.
      SpaceX turned them off. They didn't fail or go lean or shoot fairy dust. They just plain were never started. They were off before the end of the count down. They didn't WANT them on because they weren't nominal. Do you understand that point now? Spacex computer shut them off. Do I need to correct you again? They were never going to be on because spacex chose to keep them off knowing that only losing 9% of launch wouldn't affect the launch. The control of the rocket was at fault which was pretty obvious because BOTH ECM modules were so messed up that they eventually blew up and off the side of the rocket.
      It's like your computer. If you don't push the power button? It doesn't turn on. This happened for three engines. Pushed the button and they didn't turn on. We good?

      Thank you! The goal for us is to start with images and video and then write the script based on the images. That way everything we are talking about is happening on the screen the moment we talk about it. I figure that helps because a lot of TH-cam channels (not just the spaceflight related ones) are often talking about something that has nothing to do with what’s happening on screen. Or I guess the image on screen has nothing to do with what they are talking about 🤣. There is actually a difference between those two statements. But thank you! I’m glad you enjoyed it.
      We have considered keeping a staff to create accurate translations for the subtitles but as far as I can tell, as long as I create my own English subtitles (instead of letting TH-cam do it) the auto translations into other languages seems to work a bit better.

      @@CSIStarbase You're welcome, it's well deserved.
      I just checked the auto-translated french subtitles and they are indeed pretty accurate. I myself don't use them but I use the english ones, so the fact that you take time to create them is also very appreciated. First because even if I feel fluent enough in english, of course sometimes I still mishear a word ; and second because it allows to pause the video and still have the commentaries about the frame, so as you said having the script and the images related and synched help a lot, for many reasons.
      As for the french youtuber, it is indeed StarbaseFR ! I didn't know he was part of the team of field agents, it's nice to hear ! I've also heard about your channel once or twice from HugoLisoir, a quite big french space related chanel 😉

    As and architect it really triggers my OCD to see the original pilings with not only a single piece of rebar in the center but having those pilings not be tied into the rebar mat for the slab above. And even more that rebar mat needs to have extra rebar laid between and connecting all pilings so it creates a grid of grade beams built within the slab. That way you aren't relying on the soil compression being adequate for the entire system to not fail. The grade beams with internal rebar connecting and tying into the pilings will create a whole system that can support the load by itself without the need for perfectly compacted grade. If they are going to rely on grade compaction then they need to compact it in small lifts to where it can withstand the distributed 16 million pounds. They clearly didn't do this.
    Edit: It was mentioned that the water table impedes certain times which is even more reason to build a system that doesn't rely on soil bearing at all.

      The Apollo/Saturn missions were broadcast live on all the national news stations. The whole nation stopped to watch. I grew up during that time. I don't see much SpaceX coverage on the news and my friends don't know much about Starship.

    • @Richard-cq4kv
      @Richard-cq4kv ปีที่แล้ว

      @@59seank I remember it, way back, before the internet, going to the Moon is Always big, no matter what Era, I saw the Moon landings, but Starship is going to Mars, that's way bigger and more exciting, nowadays you have to set your notifications to see the attempts, there are major launches weekly now, it's an exciting time for Space now.

    • @123clickit
      @123clickit ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@Richard-cq4kv Starship will definitely be more significant of a vehicle due to its long-term applications, however I would say step change from nothing to Man on Moon is greater than that to Mars, as its the first time we walked on another world. Although I am sure the first human Mars mission will be broadcast on all TV

    52:53 You say that it should not affect stage separation. What I felt, when I noticed the vehicle lifted of at a slight angle, and the consequent loss of further engines; This could easily create a warp in the entire booster structure, effectively locking the booster and starship together preventing stage separation.
    Thank you for this 'Stage zero for dummies' and all the work that went into the coverage of this first launch of Starship.
    +1 well deserved sub (Y)

      Just considering what information you have gleamed from videos and sources, I think this was an even bigger success for SpaceX. Considering all the information they are sitting on, I think SpaceX has most of all the information they need to further iterate on both S0 and S1. Knowing how SpaceX operate, they are masters of learning from mistakes, almost to the degree, failures can be called successes.
      I am very much looking forward to the next launch attempt.

    Excellent recap, great work. From our computer screens it's difficult to imagine the scale and power of this machine. Even more difficult to imagine is an unconventional launch mount that can with withstand that much energy. Space X, given data will fix it.

    truly awesome analysis, but i have some things to ask;
    quoting insprucker at 10:20, he says that ''the booster hold downs have been unlatched, they'll be ready to retract at liftoff.''- could it be that ''unlatching'' the hold downs is some sort of safety pin being removed, whereas ''retracting'' refers to the booster actually being set free by the hold downs? that way what he would be saying is closer to how you'd expect the system to work.
    at 21:58 you say that the exhaust gases have a speed of mach 3, but i think that should actually be around mach 10, since the exhaust velocity is about 3.2 km/s.
    you say the fts was manually commanded from the ground (55:45), but if i remember a recent scott manley video correctly, autonomous flight termination systems (afts) have become mandatory, so there would actually be no way of triggering this from the ground. or am i missing something here?
    also, i wonder why it would make sense to have 20 raptor qds instead of just integrating all that plumbing into the rocket and the booster qd. sure, there is some decrease in mass and decrease of complexity of the booster to be gained, but i wonder if that is really worth the increased complexity of the launch mount. (at any rate though, it makes the launch mount be more awesome, so that's cool)
    edit, i wasn't able to find the link to spacerhino in the description, but i really appreciate all the sources linked
