This week we will be looking at the list of performance upgrades that SpaceX made to the mechanical systems of the Orbital Launch Mount. This includes adding a significant amount of redundancy features to prevent the failure of important safety systems. We will also be examining the new sensor upgrades which will should help prevent the Super Heavy Booster from colliding with the Orbital Launch Mount.

INSANE VIDEO. The level of technical detail and clear explanations make these videos invaluable. Obviously building rockets is complicated, but these videos show just how complicated even the most simple of this are. I am shocked an April launch is even possible given all the complexities. Also, the turnaround time between your last video and this video was shockingly fast, it really shows how hard you are working! Keep it up and can't wait for the next one!
FYI, as a control systems designer, the 'gold' valve is for Safety, the 'Silver' valve is for controls. You're correct about the position switch vs position transmitter. They typically run on two separate controllers and the safety side acts as "permission" (permissives) for the process controls system from a programming standpoint. The valve doubling acts as a higher SIL level for safety integrity. Great video as usual.

These videos definitely shows us the visual iceberg of what SpaceX is achieving behind what is obviously seen on TH-cam. Most of us cheer at every successful launch yet the sheer efforts of the team not seen is quie actually staggering.

A year ago, when I first stumbled upon your channel, I must admit I found it a tad cheesy. It didn't seem to offer much more than a dozen others out there. However, like a fine wine, your work has matured, and your virtual backgrounds have grown up too. Your ability as an outsider to reverse engineer these complex facilities is thoroughly impressing. Your presentation and production skills have reached new heights. So keep going, and don't forget to keep sprinkling that special "cheez" that makes your content so enjoyable.

StarbaseSim dev here: While you can do things like switching off individual engines, the stuff on the left side, the cross sectional view and the force vectors are not available in the current version as I made this just for Zack and with the help of the Unity editor.

This is by far my favourite SpaceX channel. Insightful, entertaining and an adult understanding of engineering. You register real issues and explain them in an excellent fashion.
You deserve great success with this, as I imagine it is a nerve racking experience. Please don't dilute the style however much others may attempt to broaden the approach. There is far to much coverage that settles at a level that is little more than gosh isn't it big...
Genuine content, like yours, is sustainable and I suspect that is ultimately your desire.

Great episode. Manual shut down could of been to test that the opposite engine auto aborted if it was out of the limits to correct with thrust vectoring before clearing the pad.
I considered that as well but I figured the TVC could be enough to correct for that.
@@CSIStarbase Yes, doubling the loss of power is not the best way of solving the imbalance.
I would be very surprised if the computers on the booster don't abort should that happen before launch.

When I was a child, I got up early before school to see the Gemini and early Apollo launches on our family's black and white TV. I just couldn't imagine how it was possible for humans to build and operate all the equipment needed to make it happen. Having successfully built my own AM crystal radio receiver (hearing Cousin Brucie on WABC out of NYCity, nearly 100 miles away even!) I was certain I had to become an engineer to gain some level of understanding. There are no words that can express my gratitude for the level of detail and production quality of CSI Starbase's videos - you have made me a child again, staring with wide eyed amazement once more at the ingenuity and perseverance of the human mind. I am so thankful that I got to live in the time that spans these two achievements.

I love your coverage, you were the only one I saw to accurately predict that the static fire wouldn't significantly hurt the new concrete and that the deluge system was for after the first orbital launch. Everyone else I watched seemed to miss that. You used facts and evidence and not just wild guesses. Excellent stuff.

That slow motion video about the booster's rising at the clamp clearance section was very interesting to watch. There is very little space to retrack the clamps.

Another advantage of the weigh stand over the crane squid is it allows Space X to adjust the balance (trim) of starship, so they will all fly the same.
How have I never stumbled upon this channel before??? I thought this was going to be some clickbait video that just talked about some random aspect of the starship launch for the sake of talking about starship for views, but I was unbelievably wrong. Congratulations Zack - this is really a first class channel for SpaceX. I am pretty sure that SpaceX engineers (and probably Elon Musk) are studying your TH-cam videos with a magnifying glass! They learn a lot from you - even if occasionally there may be some inaccurate guess work!

Hey Zack, just finished binge-watching the last 3 deep-dives! Once again you have produced an incredibly insightful and comprehensive overview of some very complex topics. It was great going through the entire history of SpaceX’ structural and flight test articles again and getting a refresher on the failures and iteratons the starship architecture went through to get to the point it is today, especially with the OTF (hopefully) being only days away! Thanks to you i now know what to look out for and when to cross my fingers extra hard during that flight :) really hope B7S24 pulls an SN8 and performs almost perfectly on the first try. Submarine launcher pneumatics and hydraulics used to be my game. I so appreciate your deep-dive into the STARSHIP stage-zero mechanics and reasons why. Damned good stuff, sir.
As a former prosess operator on a oil platform in the north sea in Norway, your visual pictures/films is beautiful. The read and blue actuators on the main valves has, as you shoved on the film, do have a very safety operation funksjon. If the system has a major falt, fire/eksplosjons the actuators have a fail safe system build into them. The springs inside the pistons will close or open automatic if the hydraulic pressure disappears because of erupted lines. You usually have 2 main valves, whit a bled valve mounted on a T-pipe between the 2 main valve, in case you have a pipe rapture on the down stream side of the main valves, to bleed off if there is a small leak in the main valves. Keep up the good work.
