Imagine you receive your box, and the console is totally ruined by scratchs due to carts moving on it during the shipping. 🤔
@@joysticksnjukeboxes Yeah I saw another youtuber open one of these and immediately went online to purchase it, only to find the generic version they're selling to the public. No thanks.

As Amazon, at least here in Australia, currently has 40% off on the Atari 2600+ which I purchased at full price on release, I feel like I should exercise patience and get the 7800+ down the track when it is subjected to a likely similar discount.

It's basically a SNES Mini or a Genesis Mini that can play and emulate some of your carts. If it had FPGA chip instead of a Arm chip, it would be perfect.
I went into a warehouse store and saw one of those 'Gamestation Pro' for $80, and thought: "Whoa, wait.. is this a new Atari? Holy cow, I should grab one!" Then saw it was the Gamestation. We went to a Goodwill after and saw one for $20. :p Glad I avoided it. This one I'd be tempted to buy though... I still might, as I have a bunch of Atari games of varying condition. Does this work with the original controllers? I can't find good pictures of the front that actually show.
Congrats on getting this VIP for Free from Atari! As a collector, I would have kept it sealed since you have one on pre-order. And having one of the 1st (50) with SN#49 makes it a true collectors item
"I'm a VIP! I'm grateful whenever a company sends me something" Here lies the rub: the fact he got a free VIP package immediately cast doubt on the impartiality of the tester.
Man, I couldn’t help myself - I didn’t get the 7800+, just due to the fact that there’s too much overlap to justify it after buying the 2600+, but man! I got an extra set of CX-30’s after buying the bundle previously, the new wireless CX-40, and got Food Fight, Asteroids Deluxe, Berzerk Enhanced, and Space Duel (yep, another Atari “not so classic” arcade game, if anything, overshadowed by the success of Asteroids). Anyway, I have to give credit to Atari for making all the peripherals compatible with original hardware. They are truly firing on all cylinders after some earlier stumbles. As for Intellivision, it was a hit back when the Flashback Console was released. If Atari gives it the + treatment, I predict that it will be just as popular!
This looks good. Now I am hoping that if Atari is going to own Intellivision, they buy Colecovision as well. Maybe even Vic Tokai games. If they do that, they will have franchises to add. Exclusive content that other companies gave up on and could see a resurgence. Clash At Demonhead comes to mind as a game that the original could make a comeback on this system. Maybe the Advanced Dungeons and Dragons games from back then. There is no reason that they couldn't do it. Acquire the license at least to put them on the system. If they bring back some of the old games from the NES and Master System that Nintendo and Sega haven't bothered with in decades, they could clean up nicely. There are some really good games that haven't been touched from that era. Hell, even getting some PC Engine/TurboGrafx 16/Genesis/SNES stuff could be possible in the next release. I am not talking stuff that Sega or Nintendo cares about. The good games they and other companies have let go of. Atari could really make a serious comeback in a few years if they did this. It might create a buzz to where they might be able to use the library to bring out new games with modern technology and graphics while still honoring the games of the past. The way they wanted to do it several years ago. It is the long game, but one that might be worth it. 4-5 years from now, they could be in a position to do something special. Especially if the Xbox goes away because they go exclusively digital with PC's and Phones. Sony and Nintendo are trying to position themselves for a head to head war. It could lead to Atari having a chance to get some market share around 2030.
Yea keep dreaming 🤭🤭 like Nintendo s gonna let them have their games,i don't even think Sega s gonna let them have those old Master System games,Atari s not coming back to modern gaming consoles, after they failed with the Jaguar,Xbox is not going away,so like a say, keep dreaming.
@ozzie.l.6035 Read that again. I was talking about the other developers like Vic Tokai who had games on the system, not owned by Nintendo. Nintendo doesn't control what happens with those games. They are the property of the companies that develop them. Capcom for example owns Street Fighter and Mega Man. Square Enix owns Final Fantasy and Dragon Quest. I am not talking about Mario or Zelda or Metroid. Or with Sega about Sonic. Just the games that they haven't been putting on the E shops.
@ozzie.l.6035 As for the Xbox, didn't this particular generation fail to catch on the way the Xbox One did? Haven't they also been talking about going all digital because they don't like having to produce expensive consoles? Just saying, it is possible they move in that direction in 2029-2030. If they do, that opens up a window for Atari to possibly get in the door if they develop a good system. I am not saying they would get a 20% of the market in that scenario, but if they get 5% that would be a success for them.
@WolfsDE Oh wow,how beautiful in ur head 🤭🤭 so since when have you been waiting for Xbox to go away, since let say 2003-04?? 🤭🤭🤭 yeap keep dreaming, how delusional n pathetic. 😆😅
Atari's sound chip is what always made it feel dated and behind NES. From 2600 (of course since its from the 70s) but all the way through 7800 they never had a good sound chip. Sound is important. Gameboy, crap screen but had amazing sound
Ridiculous. 5200 pokey chip was incredible in its time. Renowned. Used in many arcade games which is why games like 5200 centipede and tempest have arcade perfect sound. The 8 bit computer line has some incredible music compositions from games - ballblazer had its memorable theme on the 5200 version. What 5200 games were you disappointed with in audio?

Just got my 7800+ in the mail today. Wireless controllers are nice but fire button A, and fire button B are too far apart IMO, as it makes making a running jump in BentleyBear game awkward. Luckily I have 3rd party 2 fire button controllers with extension cables I can use. Still even with the 2.0 firmware there are some game cartridges that still won't work, like Chetiry, Time Pilot, Double Dragon...The HDMI video connection is great. I just played some Failsafe, Rampage, Space Duel and Moon Cresta . 😊

Not sure what the issue is with them not working on the Plus EDIT: I got an Original 2600 controller to work Finally! Don't know what the deal is. I disconnected the console from power for a few minutes then tried again now its working. Firmware bug?
This system is great for someone who already has a catalog of 2600 and 7800 games. But for someone who doesn’t have any, it’s just not worth it. You will end up spending a ton of money for games that shouldn’t cost you more than a couple of dollars each. Two games will cost you as much as 1 modern game from today.
Id get excited too I can't even afford one thing you get for review lol! Not knocking, just young family to take care of but got a kick out of your beginning 😜
I purchased a couple new Atari 7800 Consoles at it's original launch ...but after comparing the same games that were also on the Atari 5200, IMO the 7800 was just a Cash grab. The new 2024 7800+ is ALSO just too dated to bother with.
This is just Press Kit. Some of my buddies who work a Ziff Davis got some over at their IGN offices. Companies have done this since the days I worked in the magazine business decades ago. They expect you to film it, which is promotion far beyond the cost of the packaging. They hope people will see titles like yours, and assume the unboxing is of the product they can order. It's ashame it's a one second mention in the video, and not made clear in the title _"Atari 7800+ _*_[Press Kit]_*_ Unboxing."_ Atari clearly got their monies worth with this influencer.
I asked for one for Christmas 🎄. Going to open it like I'm a 10 year old 😂. I was skeptical at first of the young crypto bros running Atari these days, but they are growing on me and doing a pretty good job I think.
I recorded the unboxing several weeks ago, and while I am extremely grateful for them sending it.. I honestly started feeling a little mixed on it, while there is nothing here that the public doesnt get access to, all the games and controllers and console are normal.... the way it was bundled really would have been cool for collectors. I always prefer review products to be sent the way they are sold to the public so the unboxing experience and entire review is presented exactly like anyone else buying and experiencing it.. which was what I thought they were sending.
Here’s my rant. Are collectors actually a part of Atari’s demographic? Sending out review bundles that won’t be available to the masses makes 0 sense to me because it’s more about the novelty and collectability to begin with, smh. That’s a difference from “I must get this” to “Ok, I’ll pick it up…eventually, maybe”
@@ItsTheRealMrMaD If it's anything like the 2600+, which seems like it uses the same loader. then the loader won't read a list of games on a multicart since all the loader does is dump the ROM from the cartridge into memory and then run the dumped rom via emulator.

Asteroids Deluxe is pretty much the same as Vectrex's Minestorm.
Id get excited too I can't even afford one thing you get for review lol! Not knocking, just young family to take care of but got a kick out of your beginning 😜
It would be nice if they re released planet smashers & alien brigade. Don't wanna spend on the originals.
You got high pitched there !
The Energy is just a timer.
Awesome
Hmm.. this looks like it might scratch the itch of having a dedicated system for Atari games
The Bently Bear game looks like an Adventure Island clone.**Edit** I see you reached the same conclusion later in the video. lol.
Yeah I'm also disappointed I wanted the VIP should be available to the public regardless of the amount
I cannot believe I'm MAD because this thing does not have composite/rgb output haha
Very cool
Bentley Bear looks like a combination of Clash At Demonhead, Adventure Island and Wizards & Warriors. It could be really good.
change your disgusting profile pic. very very offensive
Completely disappointed this package isn't available to ghe general public.
Doesn’t play multicarts :(
Would this not work with the Atari 7800 GameDrive?
@@ItsTheRealMrMaD If it's anything like the 2600+, which seems like it uses the same loader. then the loader won't read a list of games on a multicart since all the loader does is dump the ROM from the cartridge into memory and then run the dumped rom via emulator.
@@ConsoleCombat dang, that’s a bummer
good for collection :)
Ich habe Furz und Durchfall! 😂
Looking forward to this! 7800+ about to come out and destroy the NES! It's 1986 and the pokey chip is in cart bitches. Mario is going down! Wooooo!
Space duel alone makes this set …
Nintendo, take note. Re release the NES and games.
Wow, looks amaz balls ❤
Thirty dollars per game? This isn't 1986.
Cool
