gavintoobe I think you could compete well with these new PRC builds! I’ve just got a Ruger Precision in 6.5 Creedmoor and was blown away by the custom rifles others were using in the open division. Have you seen the Nemo front rests they use? Big price tag but very nice machine work. I use to have a home built CNC mill, it’s really cool to see you doing your own machine work and the knowledge your sharing.
Have fun with this build Gavin. I am done with my 300PRC build but tweaking some of the add-ons. I recommend the steel bag rider instead of the aluminum for added weight at the rear to help counter the forend weight. For optics, I recommend the Vortex Razor Gen II for a reason that most would find as a negative. For the 300PRC the heavy weight of the Razor is actually a welcomed benefit. This will be a heavy rifle. My rifle is really heavy, but you can sit and shoot it all day long with a smile on your face because the recoil is like shooting an AR. After the first squeeze of that incredible Diamond trigger....and you discover no recoil...you will be laughing hysterically and people around you will think you have gone mad...but they just don't understand....until they shoot it. Have fun Gavin!
Gavin, I'm putting together a similar rifle. Mine started life as a 700 5R but now sits in the MDT ESS chassis, a ton of added weight, and bag rider as well. Where we differ is I'm planning a 30" heavy palms barrel and a Bix n Andy trigger.
I know this project is far from being over, but I was thinking about a potential next build and would like to share the idea with you: A top end single rifle build with a swith lug + 2 interchangeable barrels (one is steel and next is carbon fiber), different calibers obviously and bolt face probably, that requires no gunsmitting. Like a dual purpuse rifle (target, more heavy + hunthing, lighter) that could be switched around by average Joe on his kitchen table or in the field… I thought that you would be the best person to experiement that route and share the ride with us! Thanks for the good content you produce! Keep science and fun part of the process as always!
This is very exciting, I am sitting with the exact same chassis and a spare Delta Stryker HD 4.5-30x56. I am going to watch you series and build my rifle after.
The ejector is made that way so you can choose to fully eject(forcefully rearward) or slowly draw the bolt rearward to remove your case manually. I love it!
Im trying to bild my first prs rifle in .308 Winchester, i have most of the parts set up the only thing that I am having problems with is the twist rate. My Thompson center compass is 1in12 but I what something a little faster, and I was thinking about 1in 10 or 1in9 for 175gr to 200gr bullets ,what are your thoughts?
MDT's website states that the ESS Chassis is the only chassis system they offer that accepts the longer 3.850 magazines. Did you have to modify the magwell any on this ACC chassis? If so, do you believe this to be the reason your mag does not sit high enough after installation?
If I have a vote I'd say go for an optics comparison. this build deserves a nightforce if it's in the budget and it's a great opportunity to compare an athlon ares with its top end competitors. can an athlon print as well a nightforce of comparable specs?
I would like to buy a Rifle in 300 Win mag (Being a long action) but use longer bullets without going to mag. lengh action rifle, 300 PRC oal lengh is 3.7 " and 300 Win Mag is 3.55", Can't find info if the 300 PRC is used in a long or a magnum action, Whithout going Custom and just for hunting, Which rifles would be suitable for 300 Win Mag with longer bullets ? and 3.72 OAL and Thanks for the info
How would a kelbley compare to a borden mountaineer?? Any experience? A panda? Would be interesting to see an action pro con comparison.. just saying..
I could not find your video titled: AR-MPR AR-15 Build and Precision Reloading Project from your website, was it taken down? I am beginning 5.56 reloading on a Dillon 650 from an AR platform mainly for plinking, not BR (original I know) Any help would be appreciated Thanks and I am enjoying this series as well!
I just started the same on a 550 and shot today along side my loads from a single stage Rock Chucker with each charge weighed out one at a time on a beam scale. The loads off the 550 shot just at an inch, the single stage just under. I am impressed by the Dillon.
I shoot long range with a Browning X-Bolt. It's chambered in 243. Got a GRS laminated stock. It does the job. I'm afraid all this has became a huge stroking contest... (Sorry bout that). Use what you got as i do. I group 10/15 shots in a 4/4 inches square at 300 shooting as fast as i can. Sorry again, you're speaking to the richest "i got everything not a real marksman audience"... 🖖🏻🇫🇷😎🇫🇷🤪🇫🇷🖖🏻

I hope you show the complete machining process of chambering and threading the barrel. And make it longer than a 10-15 minute video. Show some in depth footage of building instead of just product reviews.
Check out this video form Mark and Sam after work, it has some great info about the Muzzle Break and how it affects ELR/XLR shooting. th-cam.com/video/ekdCTzM3Z00/w-d-xo.html
give a guy a break, we all know what he was saying and he had a dozen parts on the table from different manufacturers all with individual model numbers and specs to remember and recite in front of a camera.
Really enjoying this series! I just got into F-class and am discovering a new world of precision rifles.
Sweet- I want to try F-Class some day...

Steve C sounds like an awesome build- keep us posted!
Can't wait to see how it all turns out. Keep up the good work. Love the channel.
Thanks, lots more coming! Chambering turned out awesome...
Can't wait to see the final product and how accurate it will be good luck in putting it all together.

If you have not picked an optic yet I highly suggest an optic from Tract. The Toric line is amazing. Fun build.
I have heard good things about 300 PRC. This will be a fun build. Looking forward to range videos.
Gavin great build and can't wait to see it print.
I am on the fence about 300prc have a custom 300rum. This series is very interesting. I can wait to see all the data. Keep up the great content.
Looking forward. I have a Terminator T3 brake and added weight to my 338LM. It does not feel like a 6.5C, but it is darn close. :)

That ejector pin looks like it would break easily. I wonder how durable it is?
Nice!
You need a March 10-60x56 High Master scope on that one :)
Put a Leupold Mark 5 HD on it! I’d love to see your opinion on it and I think it would be a great match for that application too.
We need another 300prc video
this is my new favourite channel! Also, optics should be vortex.
Thanks!

300 PRC rifles have a long action- how about getting a rifle chambered in 300 PRC?

trigger tech diamond vs. special...is it worth the price difference?
Tom Jung I think the diamond is awesome.
Either trigger mentioned is hands down better than stock.
What is the MSRP on your Benchmark barrel?
The ejector is the best part
Yes, and the trigger hanger!

What is so attractive about Rem 700 actions? I have yet to find a factory example that comes close to a Tikka.
after market upgrades I think. but why buy an action that needs to be upgraded when you can get one that shoots straight out of the box...
