THE BIGGEST BADDEST SURRON REVEAL!!

  • This bike is the electric future we all dream about with the performance of a gas motocross bike at 1/2 the weight and the tune-ability to let a beginner ride it, or take it trail riding on single track, or race on a track, or drag race straight up a deep loamy sand hill that even a 250f struggles to climb. Did we just build a Surron Ultra Bee killer?
    Part 3 we will go over this build in detail, have questions about it, ask us in the comments and we'll answer them in the next video.
    This bike has had many names floating around the shop from Frankenstein to Gold Member. What should we name it? Comment below.

    Have a similar build w 60max and it’s absolutely insane. For my application (backyard moto, single track, and track toy), CCW has had the best recommendations. Looking back on the build I would have saved money by taking their advice on stuff first

      i'll ask mine here. I remember in last video you had problems with this fork because that rised the front bike too much and you had to put the 19 inch wheel so i can see now you finally put the ebmx swing arm but with the 1.5 warp 9 linkage and the 21 front wheel. So how do you feel the geometry of the bike now when you ride ?
      Like many i'm waiting the ultra bee to take my final decision between a heavily modified light bee or an ultra bee with better suspensions and a 21/18 wheel set. I'm so curious about this comparison when it'll be possible !

    Really cool but I think the surron ultra will be the perfect solution for those who want something more powerful and with better shocks without any mods all while staying light unlike the storm bee which is too heavy for most people.

    • @nxdboi
      @nxdboi ปีที่แล้ว +2

      This is likely both more powerful and lighter. Although also more expensive lol.

    • @ChargedCycleWorks
      @ChargedCycleWorks  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      We totally agree, for those wanting a larger more capable surron we are extremely excited for the Ultra and expect the aftermarket to jump in and support that bike. Once the mods are available for that bike it should be a less expensive option vs what we did to this bike. However, we're really confident this build would destroy a stock Ultra...but it comes at a high price. We will certainly make a video comparison once we have one and also jump into Ultra modifications. Straight out of the box we think the Ultra is going to take things to a whole new level.

    Those KTM forks seem like the way to go

    • @ChargedCycleWorks
      @ChargedCycleWorks  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Pros and Cons, the biggest con is that adding a KTM fork is not as easy as people think because it's 3" longer than a MTB fork and destroys the turning ability of the chassis and so you have to fix that. And if you want to run a 21" front wheel it's even more difficult because of the geometry problems. Check out Part1 of this video where we talk about it. In all honesty, we recommend waiting for the EXT Fork to arrive, it's the proper size for Surron, will be a mostly plug-and-play installation, and far cheaper than a full KTM front end conversion like this. Another issue we have not talked about yet on this build is this is a Motocross racing fork, great for big hits, but not very plush in rocks and general trail riding...it really needs to be revalved for Surron duty. There are a lot of variables involved and a lot of $$$ to making a MX fork work on a Surron.

  • @GhettoChild
    @GhettoChild ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Will you do a tire weight video on the lightest 100/100/18 that fits in that EBMX swing arm. I did get my hands on a few Mitas C11 Speed-Croc for the front 21" based off one of your tire guide videos. Keep up the great work!

    • @ChargedCycleWorks
      @ChargedCycleWorks  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Great question! We have a Part3 coming for this video we'll be sure to talk about that. In the meantime we did weigh multiple 100/100-18 tires for this bike and once again the Michelin Starcross 5 was the winner!

    I think a riser kit and extended seat will finish off the build

    • @ChargedCycleWorks
      @ChargedCycleWorks  ปีที่แล้ว

      Seat Riser kits are love/hate, you'll never see one on this bike which belongs to Brian, he personally does not like seat riser kits and what it does to the rider position, seat risers gives him flash backs of the 2009 CRF450r Stink Bug geometry bike. Instead he runs Pastrana Bend Pro Taper 4.75" bars, and Warp9 Adjustable Drop Pegs to open up the cockpit for comfort. What's everybody else think? Seat Risers, do you love them or hate them?

      We normally run a primary belt drive, they are very reliable and quiet and no maintenance. However on this particular build knowing we will be pushing this bike harder than any other bike before we decided to run a 420 primary drive.

  • @chadrea7149
    @chadrea7149 ปีที่แล้ว

    I recently installed the EBMX swingarm along with an EXT Arma (550lbs spring) on my Sur-Ron and came up with a rider sag of 2.5". I see that you used a 600lbs spring... is a rider sag of 2" what you ended up with and were shooting for?

    • @ChargedCycleWorks
      @ChargedCycleWorks  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Great question and one we will certainly talk about in Part3. Due to the increased leverage of the swingarm a stiffer spring is required to get your sag correct. For Brian (190+lbs) the 600 is not quite enough on this bike, but lighter riders (Nathan and Travis) thought it felt great. We'll go over more details in Part3, but we will be working with EXT for a 650 or heavier spring for this bike.

  • @birniebickford4438
    @birniebickford4438 ปีที่แล้ว

    Has to be the forks and swingarm making it that height plus the wheels it being that high

    • @ChargedCycleWorks
      @ChargedCycleWorks  ปีที่แล้ว

      There are a lot of factors involved to make the bike this tall, if you watch Part1 of this video we talk a lot about chassis geometry and how this fork being 3" longer than a MTB fork really messes up the geometry of the Surron and one of our Goals in this build was to raise the rear end and correct the geometry so that the bike performs and handles like a true MX bike.

  • @highducky420

    what do you think is better the ko controller or the bac controller in terms of throttle feeling?

    • @ChargedCycleWorks
      @ChargedCycleWorks  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Great question, not so easy to answer (yet). We have limited time on the KO, the massive difference between the two is that the KO is fully tuneable by the customer to make any power curve you want and adjust the sensitivity. You can make it a terrifying full power instant hit bike if you want (drag racing) or you can make it a very tame beginner friendly tune and anywhere in between. They give you the tools to make your own custom tune. That's awesome for the power user who wants to spend hours learning the system and experimenting to fine tune their bike....but for those wanting instant gratification and plug-and-play it's not there yet for KO. They have app updates and other stuff coming out that should help. We will certainly talk about the tuning experience in Part3....the first drag race up the hill was very underwhelming, we got the tune wrong for the conditions...we had our own learning curve while filming this. More to come in Part3.

    • @ChargedCycleWorks
      @ChargedCycleWorks  ปีที่แล้ว

      We don't disagree, this was a "what if" dream build, we are not saying people should build a bike like this, but we wanted to show what was possible with the Surron. Stark is not out for another year, the goal was not to beat a stark which is a purpose built 450 motocross competitor, it was to see how competitive we could make a Surron, a small and light play bike not intended for MX racing. In future videos we'll pit this bike against various bikes throughout 2023 including a KTM125, Storm Bee, Ultra Bee, and yes even a Stark Varg when it finally arrives.
