    How about a spin off series: "Can we make Cam a (local) pro?" Goal would be to get Cam on the box at a local pro race. 👍😲

      Chris Canning just won the NESC series (Cam's local pro series) and is currently top 20 as a privateer in the Outdoor National series. Cam has a lot of work to do those New England boys are fast. lol

    The video comparison really helps see how coasting kills your times. I know we should be accelerating or braking only, but this video was a great visual learning tool.

    Man, I love the pro vs am series. It’s SUPER good knowledge. I’m more of a quad guy, but I do like getting on 2s from time to time. Also, your line choice in some cases can actually transfer to quads to because of the reasoning you give of WHY you chose those lines. Honestly, I feel like this will help me on dirt bikes and quads, just in different ways

    As a retired (medical reasons) rider I have loved this series. Fair play to Cam for being will to put yourself out there to be part of this. You know all the armchair experts could have ripped you to shreds on every video but they didn't which says a lot about AJ's subscribers. YT can be a brutal place sometimes. Everybody have fun and stay safe 👍

  • @motoxguy7

    No COASTING. I kept getting told this and didn’t believe it UNTIL I watched my own GoPro and listened to how much I was off the throttle; coasting into turns. Turn speed. You can see the difference in their lean angle in the turns. Great video!

    • @notimetoexpIain
      @notimetoexpIain 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      That's a huge tip, I recently started simracing and I noticed that the really fast laps were the ones where I was confident in my brakes and power application, i.e where I wasn't coasting

    AJ you make cornering look so easy. You are on the gas almost at the entry of the corner, while Cam hits the gas past the halfway point. And that 45 degree right turn is insane hitting it without braking...OMG unbelievable.

  • @Fire_at_Wil
    @Fire_at_Wil 3 ปีที่แล้ว

    That intro is super rad, well done Cam! Also, good job AJ for being dope on a bike and stuff too 👍😂
    I'd like to see a gate start comparison video, timed through one turn. Like a modified drag race but starting all the way at gate selection. Ideally, you'd walk through the gate area without the other one there, tell us which gate/lane you're picking and why, and then come together and do the start drill from your chosen gate and see how that goes, then discuss your gate choices, trap times to the cone and the differences in start techniques. (You could probably turn that into a few videos, actually.)

    Suggestion for a new video. Do a line comparison choices type video. Here were I ride the tracks get super rutted from the soft dirt from the corners all they way through the straights and the jump faces-and landings. I have trouble picking ruts and lines especially in jump faces and corners. Just be cool to see y’all do a video and you explaining why you picked the lines you picked over what cam would pick!

    Holy crap AJ ! I thought Cam looked like he was going fast but then you looked twice as quick! ...and on a rando bike no less. Mate I know you've done a vid on corner momentum with a little grom a while back. Would love to see more on how to keep that momentum through corners and getting the right corner entry speed - braking, shifting, rolling. I've been working on it for months but I always seem to freak out when I'm rolling into that corner with any speed ...and i stall a lot in the apex of the corner 🤷‍♀️

    1st off love all the videos I've actually watched all the way thru till the end.. 2nd, love all the free advice you give on some of the techniques and other technical things that help improve your riding time and helps building confidence for other riders to successfully hut the doubles and triples.. I have already implemented a few things I've learned so far and has actually helped a bit.. still healing this broken leg, so I gotta fight thru the pain of holding up my 800+ lbs Harley style motorcycle just so I can get some kinda ride time in. Now for the 3rd.. I'm sure you get alot of emails and messages for a face off or a challenge of some sort... now only if you think or feel you have the time in your insanely busy schedule , I'd love to ride side by side with you if possible to help me gage the distance differences in the jumps and woops and maybe so a few other things that's gonna help me not break another leg again because I'll never ever give up riding... I've been dying to say screw this lock down and go sailing thru the trails or the air with you're advice.. I only want your advice if I lose to a race with you with maybe a few practice laps first and then maybe tell me I'm too damn old and busted up to keep up with you. It would make a great video for a pro vs am.... either way I love ya dude

    Aj, we know that the difference between you and us is techniques, fitness etc. But what the difference between you and a top 3 AMA rider? Is it line selection, equipment, technics, or are they just taking more risk? Or maybe a little of all.

      Good question. The amount of seat time they’ve had in their lifetimes compared to me is likely 100x. Maybe more. So they’re just more confident on their bikes, stronger on their bikes, etc. equipment makes tiny bit of difference, not huge. For me personally, it’s just lack of time spent training on the bike.

    I have never paid attention to outdoor MX times until this year. It’s unbelievable how much quicker the very top guys are than even the top SX guys who you would think would be very close. Seems like Roczen is always top 1-2 times and then we see some times from AC, Sexton, Dylan and Tomac. Then you go and take a look at times by Webb, Barcia, AP, etc and it is incredible that there is such a difference (2-5 full seconds….not tenths). Then you compare them to the mid pack and back markers and it is like a totally different level. I’m actually somewhat surprised that they are even on the track at the same time. I guess you can’t have a track with 5-7 guys, but dang, when guys are 7-15 seconds behind and just getting in the way, you start to wonder what the point is. Every other sport I have raced or followed, an “expert” level racer would be slightly off of a “pro” and often a bit younger and coming up thru the ranks. But wtf do they do with guys that are too old to ride 250 class, yet are slower than half the 250 guys? It’s a little weird, but I guess there just aren’t enough top talent guys to field a full class? I have never seen a race series where the top guys are so much faster than the rest of the field, and there not be a mechanical problem. It’s probably always been like this, but I just never looked at the data.
    I also kind of figured that it might just be due to the variable terrain and just hitting a section slightly different or hitting a rock or a rut and making the times much different. But both of these guys were very consistent in times and that is impressive
    And for record, I’m not saying I could ever compete with these riders, because there is no way in hell I could ride at that level. And I guess that’s the point. The very top few are there for a reason. To back we don’t get more euro guys coming over here like Herlings, etc, to see more competition at the front.

    This is a perfect example of what I have told people for years.
    . Once in while we end up with a ridiculous jump at our track that gets knocked down after 2 or 3 months, then people complain. There seems to be a mentality among certain people at our track, and probably others, that you have to build large and/or dangerous obstacles and jumps to "separate riders"
    We're looking at the proof that isn't the case. This is a very simple track, with nothing crazy, no gnarly big jumps or anything and AJ is still faster. If I got on a flat track with Ryan Villopoto he'd beat the hell out of me. The skill is just simply on another level of what I'm capable of. With time and effort could I be faster? Sure. But regardless of the scenario, a more highly skilled rider will be able to gap a lesser skilled rider and you don't have to put a large dangerous jump that only a few people will do on a track to do it.

    in some mountain biking disciplines we have experts between pro and armature. For example an 'all mountain' point to point race has beginners, advanced, experts, and pro. Pro men and and pro women are pros if you're fast enough to ride pro, you can ride pro, there are no sex or age separations, limitations or restrictions. beginners and advanced have age classes and sex separation, experts have sex separations but no age limitations. To race pro, you have to beat pros. In mountain biking, racing pro is the beginning of the end, the competition is fierce, it comes from all directions and is relentless.... i wish i could go back to riding expert. The perks are better, the people are friendlier and the money is better.

    No offense but that reminds me of an atv/utv track more than motocross, add whoops , doubles and triples and maybe it’ll look more like something for two wheels
