This is the only alien invasion scene in a movie that made me feel a certain way I can’t explain. Just seeing everyone so helpless die to careless machines is a sight I wouldn’t wish anyone see in person
Similar to war of the worlds (specifically 2005), except here the aliens dont have magical invincible shields nor do they look so 'foreign'. The decepticons have technology and weapons very reminiscent to humans and they themselves look humanoid. That scene at 0:58, where the ships are approaching slowly in the evening just feels so fucking real. Like just watching them come so slowly and that barrage of missiles destroying shit, you really feel so helpless. Additionally, it feels like this can happen in real life. Could be the CGI, the designs but whatever they did they did it VERY well.

@@willdill1538 I think War of the Worlds perfectly captured the hopeless feeling. The aliens look inhuman, they are untouchable, and they wipe out everyone without thinking twice about it.
Even though part 1 was the first robot invasion, this really felt like an invasion and the Decepticons had an eerie vibe they well deserved.
Too bad their army was made up of paper.
If they were strong like the one sin the first movie it'd be awesome to watch the fight play out.
@@vibe3063 In the first movie, Brawl and Blackout were among Megatron's best troops - not to mention in the first movie humanity didn't know what countered them (they learned only sabot rounds could damage them through sheer coincidence). By this movie, the majority of the world's militaries already had the weaponry and expertise to properly take down Transformers.

@@vibe3063 Look at the battle this way. The Decepticons had spread around the planet to spread out the pillars to allow CYbertron to be transported, THe Con army in Chicago wasn't super huge. And the AUtobots basically puled off a stealth infiltration, and 1 by 1 took out all of the Con leadership, once the control pillar was destroyed it also had an effect where it pulled all the Con warships back up to the portal, meaning the only ones left were ground troops, very likely they ran and went into hiding knowing they'd lost their leadership, fleet, and any reason to stick around there.
Sad to think we've never got to see a battle as epic as this one again...

It is honestly insane how good Transformers' CGI is, even the first one had a more realistic CGI than most movies at it's time. They almost look like Practical effects
It's not much about looking like practical effects, but make it blend with the real world. That's what these movies did so good, from the highway chase in the first movie where Optimus fights Bonecrusher to the forest fight on the 2nd movie, and pretty much the entire 3rd movie are still amazing works of CGI, the way they interact with the scenario like they truly are there along with practical effects like explosions and props. Michael Bay compensated the lack of writting with great visuals.
A lot of movies these days, especially the MCU, don't care about making CGI blend with the real world, they make entire takes on CGI with little to no real world elements.

@Jigsaw88 The Autobots were given an amnesty. They were free to go. The Decepticons were declared illegal. Cemetery Wind was acting without government authorization when pursuing the Autobots. The TRF clearly had to detect any badges of incoming Transformers. Any Autobot insignias were allowed to go free. Any neutral Transformers were killed, which is the reason for Bumblebee's reaction in the fifth film. Because they were innocents that took no part in the Cybertronian Wars.
"Dark of the Moon" is not the greatest/worst movie,but looking back at it,there was some dark moments you don't get often in the franchise - and that's the humans getting obliterated by the Decepticons. Sometimes you gotta appreciate these dark moments. Especially the sound design in this movie - sublime

The army was there since 1967. They couldn’t use it because they needed the matrix to revive sentinel since he was the only one who could activate the pillars and transport the army to earth. The matrix wasn’t there until Sam earned it and gave it to Optimus. I know it’s fun for you people to hate on these movies but whatever you think, they are fucking brilliant.

I remember the first time I saw this movie on theater I just got traumatized when the whole Invasion began, it took me some years to recover from it..
Hearing the screams of all that people and watch them dying in that brutal way while still processing the Autobots death, gave me a kind of desperation and sadness that I still remember to this day.

Don't care what anyone else says. This movie was a masterpiece
visually yes, storywise it was decent. For me it's the IDW movie comics that salvaged these films and why I still love them so much. At least for the first 3 films the comics did an amazing job building on the lore from the films, and yet surprisingly with each new film the comic writers actually managed to incorperate the new lore into what existed, makig it work around what they'd already written and not needing to scrap what came before. Then TF 4 and 5 threw such a big wrench into it you either need to consider the comics no longer canon, or just make up your own headcanon to make it work, even looking at JUST the films it's a mess now that has no clear story anymore.

loved this movie, a lot of people died out of nowhere.
Well we can agree on a few things. The design of the Autobots and the Desepticons were cool for the most part, the voice acting was good, the sound effects were phenomenal, and the music sounded awesome. Everything els from the story, the human characters, and the way the treated the Transformers themselves were a mess.
3d element was so great in this scene and when Shia finds out about piller and bumblebee Bridge slow motion scene. Can't believe this movie is 8 years old. Time flies

Question: when these robots are so advanced, why they keep transforming into primitive vehicles, especially in a war, why not transform like alien ship or tank like megatron in 1,2

Megatron is their leader so he has no need to "hide/ Disguise", he wants his presence to be known and feared.
Starscream is a perfect example of using modern "primitive" vehicles to their advantage. He was able to blend in and quickly take out afew jets in TF1.
Another example is the invasion in TF3, they took the advantage of the suprise invasion and quickly spread out across the city disguised as ambulances, taxis, even a garbage truck, who'd ever suspect a huge stinking garbage truck to ever be one.
So that’s what Chicago looked like when the Cubs won the Series

That scene where the vehicons get port too earth and take there earth forms still to this day makes me want a new transformers game where you play as a decepticon with conflicting loyalties
Sadly, they aren't vehicons but instead some protoforms waiting to transform into earth vehicles
The transformers in the Bayverse are just too OP. An entire brigade of Decepticons was enough to capture Chicago and they successfully laid siege to it until the Autobots arrived.
Imagine a force of 10000 decepticons arrive on Earth. The whole planet would be conquered in just a week and the humans would not be able to defeat them if Autobots were never around.
The Cybertronians ability to disguise themselves as Earth' technology gives them a huge advantage over Earth's military.

In terms of action in the Transformers series, DOTM is the unmatched champion imo.
When i first saw this as an 8 year old i couldn't believe how awsome it was, and i tried to recreate this with the transformers toy

The moon has no resources for one, and two, Earth is Unicron. Sentinel first tried to bring Cybertron to Earth to extract life from Unicron, but ended up dead, so years later Quintessa brought the planet billions of miles to Earth herself.

1. Sentinel brought Cybertron over so the 6 Billion humans on Earth could rebuild it for them.
2. Cybertron was litterally collapsing into itself in the 3rd movie. It shouldn't look how it does in the 5th.
Bay just lacks consistency. Just like, Megatron's original plan was for Optimus to revive Sentinel. But Optimus just only got the Matrix in the second movie. So how would he know that Optimus would have if it even the Fallen couldn't find it?
Dr. Boring Sentinel came for their natural resources, but Quintessa is stationed on Cybertron either way, its also very likely Megatron knew of the whole plan so he brought it up to Sentinel, he wanted his planet to survive, just like Quintessa, and both of them obviously would stop at nothing to make sure of that. Also, what collapsed of Cybertron was what was transported through the space bridge, only that part of Cybertron collapsed, it lost a shit ton of mass which is why in The Last Knight it is much smaller, and it looks all weird, not to mention Quintessa was in control of it. A scientist even said at one point in the movie, the planet was acting deliberately
Humanity wouldnt accept a whole potentially threatening army on the moon.
