I am a great fan of sungudi sarees.I used to shop at Chennai for sungudi sarees, they are very comfortable and in beautiful colours.I am retired now but still wear the ones I used to wear to office. The colors and cloth lasts long, love south cotton sungudis👌Thanks for the video, inspiring to see the process of saree making!! I appreciate the work of talented, hardworking weavers and think of them fondly when I wear the sarees😊
This video brings out the awareness and tradition for the youngsters . These cotton sarees are the best to wear in summer and the unique brand shows our rich Tamil culture. Excellent work
Thank you for this lovely video .I hav been to Madurai and wear their sarees regularly so can vouch for the beauty of this old traditional piece of woven cotton.so soft to wear,u feel hugged and loved by centuries of tradition and hard work of the artisans.
Good documentary. Thankyou for sharing in detail the history and the laborious work of Madhuri Sungudi sarees. Let's promote these products thus respecting these great artisans.
Namaskaram Madam. Very nice endeavor. Yes so much to enjoy as Madurai is my native too and much to learn from the specialists and more so as you rightly said about being content in life and being satisfied with what we have. We as Bharatians must help sustain this art and the many more which are in a danger zone , of becoming extinct , possibly , in the face of so called modernisation. Shared it with my nurses who are British so that they could have a flavour of my city and the saree making art. Jai Hind 🎉🎉
Very interesting to know the process. Proud to see how people work so hard to bring out the beauty to living thro Colorful arrairs. It really is a tedious task and work should be done to reduce the messiness though step by step is the real key. Wish technology help these artisans to bring a little more easiness of doing without compromising the presentation of uniqueness. Thanks and best wishes.
Your documentary makes people aware of the lengthy, laborious process of making Madurai Sungidi cotton sarees.😢 ive seen my neighbour, Sourashtra lady going to work in the factory, for tying white threads on saris before dying getting daily wages.
Beautiful idea. Sarees as return gift during pujas, marriages and other auspicious occasions is great idea. I’ll definitely gift handloom sarees now onwards.
Madurai cotton sarees as well as other sarees are wonderful. While it is a nicely made video, I am shocked to see Powerlooms in the video which is titled ' Handlooms of Madurai"......please correct this. First know the difference between 'Khadi' and 'Handloom' so as to understand Powerloom. Many other inaccuracies in the narration. I must point out to your guide at Nitte too since what 'Textiles" they teach in institutes is far seperated from realities in the fabric and Garment industry.
Handloom or piwerloom. It is cotton saree and the entire process is HAND MADE . Please see how the artists are doing their job in a dedicated fashion. All our culture is being depicted here and don't belittle the work of the artists or the video making team- - for saying something. thanks to video making team for the great work. PLEASE SEE THE BIGGER PICTURE here - as part of BHARAT , nor finding fault. JAI HIND. 🎉🎉

Wonderful. But how the health of the workers specially dealing with chemicals in the dyeing process is ensured. Also how waters are being treated to ensure such toxic chemicals don't pollute surface or ground water. How these are monitored?

Where there is yarn drying shown, the narrator says fabric being dried.......many many mistakes

A pity that, when you spoke so often of hand looms, most of your images were of mechanical looms powered by electricity!
Exactly my thoughts
This is a power loom. Please don't give wrong information.
