I'm thinking about making a video explaining in more detail how to make an oven like this, or is this video enough? Let me know! Also, you can support me through Patreon here: www.patreon.com/miriaminchina and through PayPal here: www.paypal.me/miriaminchina
As the world's population continues to grow at a frighteningly rapid rate, Malthus's classic warning against overpopulation gains increasing importance. An Essay on the Principle of Population (1798) examines the tendency of human numbers to outstrip their resources, and argues that checks in the form of poverty, disease, and starvation are necessary to keep societies from moving beyond their means of subsistence. Malthus's simple but powerful argument was controversial in his time; today his name has become a byword for active concern about humankind's demographic and ecological prospects.
During the outbreak, remote Qinghai is an Oasis of China. They are not wearing the masks. They are roaming outdoor freely. They are not under quarantine. Unlike city folks, villagers are free as birds. The beauty of rural China is self sufficient for food. They do need to depend on modern appliances such as Oven or Toaster. The best beauty of her videos are Vegetarian diets. Healthy, fresh and free from harmful Microorganism. Shaolin Temple and Mirian family are rare Vegetarians in China.
UV Gardener I do no smoke weed or cigarette. I am Vegan. Therefore I and Buddhist Monks are not infected with SARS, MARS, Chicken Flu, Swine Fever etc. Chinese Vegetarian dishes are yummy with good visual presentations.
Been following you for a while. You and your husband are so down to earth and lovely. If you're ever in Shenzhen let me treat you guys to dinner and fresh craft beer in my brewpub.
Firstly, your husband is a real gentleman. He went all way to get water for you. This method of cooking reminds me of survival cooking and "Hangi". Hangi is a traditional Maori cooking from my home in New Zealand. We normally use volcanic rocks - alternatively iron pieces heated until red hot. We normally wrap up the vegetables and meat in aluminum foil. Corn cobs need not be wrapped. The meat is placed bottom most, followed by (sweet)potatoes, pumpkins, vegetables stacked on metal racks. Then cover the top and sides with thick damp cloth - two layers if needed-, before covering with some soil. Add some water to create steam and quickly add more soil to cover. Leave it for a few hours. The meat is so.... So fragrant. Yum...yummy!
Another great clip that brings a smile on my face again! Looks like the husband will do everything and anything for the wife, and life seem slow and easy, envious for people like us living in city. Thanks 😊
Love this! When the peaches are ripe it's the monkeys who show up first (not the farmers who grow them) lol. The kids are running in for a bite and such a joyous scene. Being given nice foods would be some of the happiest moments as a kid :)
Not from my experience. Most Chinese men I've hung out with throughout the years I've spent in China are actually excellent cooks, many in big cities. I'm amazed by the homecooked meals I've had in Chinese cities, many of which were cooked by men. But, that being said, the most impressive cooks I've met have been from the countryside, young men who can throw together a delicious feast dinner for a dozen people over open fire or just a portable induction cooktop, and who can do everything from scratch.
That’s not true. It’s the chinese women who are not able to cook a meal these days. Especially in big cities, chinese women are so spoiled and always having that “ princess syndrome” that they expect Chinese men to do buy everything and do everything including getting their own water and napkins and chopsticks when eating.
I am pretty sure you didn't talk about big cities in china.especially eastern china cities like Shanghai Suzhou Hangzhou etc.Sharing housework is common sense here.
Hi Miriam, I'm watching on from Australia. I absolutely love your videos. Learning so much from them. Just looked at a map of China to see where Qinghai was exactly. Now I know. And the photos of Qinghai were beautiful. Your little boy us so beautiful. Growing up so quickly. He is a happy little fellow.. THANKYOU for sharing. I love seeing everything.. 🤗🥰🦘🦘
I don't know what you call this or what you see see in this video but what I see in this video is not only how to cook potatoes but love and family that most of us do not have this days for any reasons, it reminds me of the days when I was a child we were poor but I had a family, brother, sister, parents and we were loving each other. I really miss those days of sharing and caring. Love and respect for this great couple and their family 😍 🙏
Wow! This brings back many memories. When I was a little girl I remember my grandfather showed me pictures of this "baking sweet potatoes" on the mountainside in China. It must have been in the early 1930's. Love your videos. I would love to see how your husband's family preserved their food is salting or fermentation?
Джина we have them just as is Or with cheese, make a mush and roll them on sugar and serve them as candy. My grandma will make vegetable soup and use 5 different veggies like faba beans/ Lima beans, sweet potato, peas, carrots and a green leafy veggie like spinach or cabbage etc with grandma seasonings it was nice
Oh Miriam, I love your videos SO much. I’m pretty much stuck at home as I’m disabled through illness and your videos are such a highlight for me. I wish I were in a financial position to support you but I literally live hand to mouth. However if my circumstances change, I will definitely look into Patreon. Little SanSan is adorable and he is so lucky to have the best of everything, in both China & Sweden. I imagine he will grow up being fluent in Chinese, Swedish and English. Not many Chinese children who have enjoyed life in the countryside would be lucky enough to have such language skills. To see your Chinese family up in the hills enjoying the fruits of your husband’s labour was a joyful moment. The family motorbike powered vehicle is ideal for a farming family to sell their produce besides carrying family, I love it! BIG LOVE from Gena 🇬🇧🏴 PS Is it really called a mountain ⛰ where you were? It seems to comprise of that areas sandy earth. I wouldn’t like living below there if there had been very heavy rainstorms as I expect those are the cause of mudslides we occasionally see on the news or magazines etc...
This looked like fun. Your mother in law did an awesome job raising your husband. He is such a gentleman. He did a good job making the oven. I didn't quite get how to do it myself, but it was great. 🙏🏻💜
Hello Mr.&Ms.Hu,how are you ? I watched a lot of your videos.I have to say they are the best shots and best edition I ' ever ever watched.Thank you and all the best wishes to you and all your families of both sides!
Simplicity is the best. Love the rural country life. Love to re-visit China one day since last visited in 2001. Next planning to visit the west and north west of China. Love watching your videos, very encouraging and down to earth.
Wonderful video. So many cultures have lost things like this. You have showed us so many things. It encourages me to try and preserve things. Whatever you want to show us or teach us, I am thrilled to watch and maybe try to do.
....oh please let me join y'all's family...smiling for the entire vid cuz how could I not...yes to detailed oven how-to...reading comments it's obvs that these vids are important reminders for all of us to stay close and appreciate the little stuff...priorities...
I helped my mother grow sweet potatoes when i was about 7/8, and did roast sweet potatoes smiler way, we grow peanut as well, i sale self grow and self cooked peanut to earn some pocket money.
Frankly speaking, I feel culture shock from your video also. Even I'm Chinese, even these videos taken in China. It is not the familiar life style we know. People in modern city always think about how to make more money. I can strongly feel that Miriam you are angel of the family.
Thanks for showing this video. This was my favorite activity when I was a little boy, during almost 30years I never taste this foods again. I hope you and your family doing well. Thanks
Your videos are so great in so many different ways. Your videography and perspective is beautiful. The music you choose is soothing and works so well with what you are showing us. You and your husband are delightful people. Such kind and good parents. And I so appreciate the opportunity to see and learn these Chinese customs. Thank you!
Thank you for sharing. I love all the clips with your in laws included. I love seeing them interact with you and your family. It reminds me of my parents and my in-laws and all the love that was given to me.
When I was very little, we did this in the village as well. Now I live in a big city, it is almost impossible to experience such wonderful life again. Your video definitely brought back those memories. Thanks.
Reminds me of the Banpo Neolithic Village kilns in Xi'an of the Yangshao culture circa six to seven thousand years ago. Interesting how the tradition carries on. :)
You family examplifies "a family" ought be. Able men and love for each other. Watching your in-laws, that will be your future of your family. So so much love.
This video reminds me of the old-time when I'm 15 yr old, baking potatoes in my middle school's yard and caught by my teacher, who ate my lovely potatoes without paying a dime...
Thank you so much for sharing. I’m enjoying watching your channel. I now want to go spend some time in the rural parts of China. I don’t have the money but I would love to perhaps teach there or work with young mothers.
To our surprise you have adapted the village life in China. Normally the Chinese girls pursue the rural life. You are a so nice and kind woman. Love you.
Very cool! Sometimes in nice to cook in traditional ways. Also, I like your husband's red jacket! It's a cool style. Also, seeing the family at the end is so cute!

You sound stranded at some random place in China. Do you need any rescue for that?

In big city, men whatever how handsome or rich they are, don’t even know how to cook eggs. You’re husband knows everything
That's the stereotype. I know how to cook eggs.
