I also appreciate the honest discussion on this tire. Its hard to find any reviews that actually discuss any negative features of a tire. No tire is perfect for everything. You provided a balanced and fair appraisal.
Hello matt, I appreciate your comment a lot! IMHO adventure tires area balanced product, they need to be useful on many different terrains, and I sometimes the company leans hard into one type of terrain. And in this instance, I feel the off-road manners pushed the tire into where it's a bad on road tire. - Frank
Appreciate the honest review of this tire. I’m in the hunt for new tires for the DR650 and the more road-focused rides I have planned for the upcoming year. This had been a contender for my usual 50-50 mix but doesn’t sound like I should consider it with multi-state slab in mind.
Hello Andrew, I just was not pleased on road. Great tire for offroad, probably among the very best. But IMHO, the extra grip offroad is not so good that it balances the bad road performance. The AX-41 I am using on my 390 does almost as well offroad, and very well on. Heck, I replaced this with a Trailmax Mission and had zero issues on the NEBDR section I took it on, and on the Badlands BDRX. The RallZ has more knobs than a BDR asks of an ADV bike. - Frank
I found this front tire on my 890 Adv R quite good traction wise. It was a little slippier than the stock TKC 80. I rode the front and rear all through the rockies and it did well. I did notice after switching to slab on my way home it cupped really bad. I put around 7,000 miles on it before I made it home. I've changed it because of the cupping, but I'm still running the rear at around 8,000 miles now. I expect to get another thousand or 2 out of them before it's bald. The mileage is 3 times what I got out of the TKC 80.
Amazing tire for KTM 690 enduro. Works on gravel, mud, rocks, snow, or anything else off pavement. Had no issues during rain. The only downside is it makes some noise on pavement. Also, rear tire wears off fast when aggressively ridden.
Hello, I think it's a very good dualsport tire. It's not very different in tread than a D606 or Tusk tire. I wear earplugs, so I am rarely bothered by tire noise. Thank you for stopping by and commenting! - Frank
I have the Motoz Dual Venture front, mates up well with the Tractionator rear. It will serve you well. Never a leak issue with the DV, great tire. Ride safe !
if you doing 75% pavement, then the RALLZ tyre is not for you, you should be using the Dual Venture tyre... so it is your riding and not the tyre that has issues. Use it for what it is intended, 80 % offroad , it is not intended for 80 % road riding - hence aggressive knobs , so if you dont like it on the road, well it is working as designed. So get a road tyre and enjoy the pavement.
Just put one on the 701, will be curious how it does after I get more miles on it! But agree with you definitely off road focused. Big fan of the ax41 on tubeless too. Ran those on the 390.
Hello Matt, I think this is the ideal tire for your bike. It's going to give you the traction you need for the trail you posted on your community page yesterday! There is no way this tire does not stick to large rocks. - Frank
I read so many great reviews on Motoz tires, I decided to put a Tractionator GPS on the rear and a Tractionator Adventure on the front of my '23 Tiger 1200 Rally Explorer. In my experience of living with these tires for nearly 6 months, they're vastly overrated. Leaking tires are not limited to KTM. That's the stock answer you'll get from Motoz PR. My Adventure tire leaks about 1 PSI per day. It's a manufacturing defect on the bead of these tires. These tires are OK on dry pavement and on ideal off road conditions (chocolate cake soft soil), but other than that, they're less than ideal and borderline dangerous on wet pavement. On a damp (not soaking wet) highway, in 5th gear, my traction control activated with a hard roll on acceleration at 100 km/h. I've felt the rear lose traction on sweeping highway bends as well. The GPS is scary on muddy roads. The Adventure tire develops a nasty weave at about 150 km/h. I realize the speed rating isn't much more than that, but that rating really is the wall for safety. This will be my first and last set of Motoz tires. I'm going with Dunlops, ASAP. I regret wasting my money on these. They may be a hard wearing tire, but the negatives far outweigh the positives.
Thank You Frank, for this video. My newest T700 came with a new set of MotoZ RallZ tires with maybe an hour of riding on them. I have put over a hundred miles on the bike, riding it to work on the freeway and running a few errands, all street and I can say this is one scarry a$$ tire on the road. These tires catch every groove and joint on the road, the bike hunts and moves underneath me like no tire I have ever owned. Trying to push the tire on turns like on a freeway clover leaf or having fun around corners you easy can push the tire past its limits and goes from ok to knob tucking dangerous in a heartbeat. I still have the new Bridgestone Battlax AX41f from my first T700 that I was thinking of using but I believe I'm going to try the TUSK 2track tires for $200 a set and sell these Rallz's. Either way the bike is not going another mile with the MotoZ tires. Spot on review.
Great well thought out review Frank! You really made a profound statement regarding the type of bike and what it will be used for. Recently sold Motoz Rallz tires that were on my KTM 790 R. Had two crashes that broke my confidence in the tires. Both I believe have to do with the knobby patterns on the front and rear. The first crash occurred at approximately 30 mph on a hard pack dirt road with light loose dirt on top. The rear tire knobs locked onto a small ridge, probably no more than an inch high, on an otherwise smooth dirt road. The rear stayed locked on the small ridge bringing it around so radically that me and the KTM went down on the road rather easily until we ended up on the ground facing the opposite direction of travel. The second crash occurred five months later involving the front tire. Traveling at approximately 20 mph I decided to switch from one track to the opposite track on a two track dirt road. Once again this road was hard pack with slight ridges running parallel to the direction of the road. The front knobs locked onto a ridge causing the front end to wash out instantly. I suffered a big bruise to my left shin in this crash. Suspicious of the cause I took a photo of the crash which clearly shows uniform knob patterns along the small ridge all the way to the bike lying on its side. Another issue with the front Rallz is its tendency to wander around on grooves in pavement, although this seemed to abate as the tire wore. Other than very satisfactory performance in deep sand the tires were no better than Metzler Karoos that came on the bike or the replacement Continental TKC-80s. Didn't get to find out about the Rallz durabilitly because they had 1170 miles on them when sold.
My 890/1250's have done extremely well with those tires....the one issue I've had was going over 75/80 on that front tire....good discussion and perspective..thanks!

Because of the hurricane and work, I haven't done ANYTHING but commuting for over a year and when I do get back into the swing of things, I think I'll still need primarily a road tire. Interesting points for sure. And no it's definitely not going to handle pavement like a street tire. But your symptoms, like sliding out on the rocks, seems more like a suspension issue to me. Have you set your sagg or cranked up the rear preload? Seems like she's a bit light in the front end.
"A bit light on the front end". Agreed. And understatement of the year. A combination of all that load on the bike - the limited forward rider movement available on a large adventure bike - and riding style, means there is no way you are getting the correct weighting on your front contact patch. When will people learn it is 80% rider and 20% tire. Add to that, its designed as an 80% off road tire with the manufacture clearly stating "... reasonable on-road manners". That's not a claim that you should push your lean angle in the dry on pavement or expect anything much at all on wet pavement. Btw - 90 degrees Fahrenheit is not an issue. These tyres were developed and tested in Australia, including desert conditions, where winter temperatures exceed 90 Fahrenheit. Anyway, if most of your riding is off road - and especially if that is where you're going to push your tyres - you'll be fine on these. If you want to ride hard on road maybe try a road biased tyre. Just sayin'.
Totally agree mate, I tried the RallZ on my Africa Twin and literally couldn’t wait to get it off… Absolutely dangerous on the black top 👎🏻 Love Motoz… Hate the RallZ 😮
Hello Alan, I believe the tire woukd perform better on my 390 VS my 790 Adventure R. Wider / smaller and the despite the low fuel tanks, the lower center of gravity on the 390. Glad to hear it works well for 390 owners! - Frank

went from d606 to rallz rear, way less grip offroad for me, worse in sand too to my absolute shock, annoyingly it is straight line grip that lacks, corner grip is more than you would expect from the way it just spins on the straight dirt roads, cornering in sand is a real weak spot, also the knobs round off worse than my d606 did, so much for "self sharpening knobs". Also I find the rallz is cutting a bit too easily, same tracks I rode as d606, lost no knobs and got no nicks on d606 and rallz as some slight tears in knobs and some cuts in the main carcass.
Hello Chilly, I can only speak from my experience with a tire. Yours may vary! I usually get complaints because I am too hard on a tire, not that I give them undue praise! I appreciate your taking the time to view and comment. - Frank
@OneOldManRiding oh shoot I didn't mean you were lying. Lol I completely agree with your review. I was speaking to other reviews. Sorry for the confusion.i edited my previous comment for clarity.
Motoz simply doesn’t know how to make a good front tire, all their front tires suck. The rears are ok and last forever but put a decent front tire on with them like a tkc80 or ax41or a mt21 for hard core dirt, even the cheap shinko 804 is way better than a motoz.

I have the Rallz rear with anakee wild front no issues

I find this Tyre on my 390 to be fine in the road, superlative off road. The Motoz Adventurer is a better choice I think.
Hello Alan, I believe the tire woukd perform better on my 390 VS my 790 Adventure R. Wider / smaller and the despite the low fuel tanks, the lower center of gravity on the 390. Glad to hear it works well for 390 owners! - Frank
The RallZ front is awful. I use the Anakee Wild now and will go to the Dual Venture or Mitas on the front. The RallZ front feels all the rain grooves
I rode a buddies bike with the RallZ front. Yep, still hate it. Thank you for stopping by and commenting! - Frank
@@OneOldManRiding Claro! I also communicated with MotoZ via their FB site. They are a very responsive company and they suggested the Dual Venture front.
Your go-to still the AX41 on the front?
Hello BC, it is indeed. I have one on standby for when the one on now has given me all it's tread! - Frank
@@OneOldManRiding nice! And that can tackle pretty much any BDR?
@@backcountry4life It worked for me in Vermont on the NEBDR. (most difficult section of the NEBDR, which was listed by them as the 2nd toughest BDR). It's a solid gripper in mud and rocks. - Frank
went from d606 to rallz rear, way less grip offroad for me, worse in sand too to my absolute shock, annoyingly it is straight line grip that lacks, corner grip is more than you would expect from the way it just spins on the straight dirt roads, cornering in sand is a real weak spot, also the knobs round off worse than my d606 did, so much for "self sharpening knobs".
Also I find the rallz is cutting a bit too easily, same tracks I rode as d606, lost no knobs and got no nicks on d606 and rallz as some slight tears in knobs and some cuts in the main carcass.

It speed wobbles over 75 and is unusable on a grooved interstate. Saying its like a sport tire is absurd. Amazing tire but has limitations.
@@chillyinalberta No problem at all! - Frank
I had one on my 701 Enduro and hated it. Very sketchy on gravel corners, terrible on the road, short life. Dunlop 606 is far superior.
You cannot go wrong with a D606. Thank you for stopping by and commenting! - Frank
This just in... Soft knobs aren't good on hard surfaces. More at 11.
Indeed! But I needed to complain, as one of my riding buddies uses "Motoz or Nothing" as his catchphrase! - Frank
@@OneOldManRiding It's almost as though they design different tires for different use cases and it's important to use the right one.
Motoz simply doesn’t know how to make a good front tire, all their front tires suck.
The rears are ok and last forever but put a decent front tire on with them like a tkc80 or ax41or a mt21 for hard core dirt, even the cheap shinko 804 is way better than a motoz.
