The frames nest into the panel ridges, filling the gaps and valleys and create a flat surface to attach an exhaust fan or window. Frames are available for R-panel, SM-Rib, Max-Rib, U-panel, and others. If you can not identify your panel type, send us a photo.
There are no metal working skills required other than cutting out the hole for your fan or window. The frames not only create a rigid support around the periphery of the cutout, it also gives a wide, flat foundation to support the exhaust fan or window or other accessory.

how large are the wood kits
Are they wood or PVC frames? For the price would much prefer pvc that wont rot.
The filler material that fills the void between the ridges is EPS (extruded polystyrene) which is a dense styrofoam. Styrofoam does not deteriorate so it will last forever. The facesheet (the flat surface that rides just at the top of the major ridges) is an exterior grade plywood with two coats of primer/paint. It also should last as long as the building. We have experimented with different non-wood materials but each has their own problems: glue will not adhere to them, the material doesn't come in the stock size we need, etc....
