I have been seeing quite a bit of this 'Leaving Korea' video genre online, and it appears to be a common sentiment among many foreigners in Korea. I was in Seoul National University back in 2014, and even though the time was so short, it felt very stressful for me even in the midst of the fun. The Korean education system and social system are pretty known to be quite stressful and toxic at times especially for outsiders, and I can understand how it gets to someone. All the best to you on your return to the USA. Being back home should be fun despite re-adjustment and all.

Three years has gone by so fast! I remember seeing your first video when you were in the process of moving to Korea and here you are now getting ready to embark on another journey. I’m moving to Busan in a few weeks and your content has def been helpful. I know it’s difficult to not compare yourself to others and feel like you can always be doing more but trust you’ve done a lot and more than most! It’s good you had the experiences outside of Seoul before moving there because people sometimes act like that’s the only city that exists in Korea lol. Good luck on your next adventure I hope the adjustment back to life in the US is an easy one for you ❤️

My biggest piece of advice for your last month or so in Korea is actually advice that was given to me before I left: Don't worry too much about what you will do when you're back in the US. Enjoy what makes you happy NOW and focus on being happy now. :)
It's a good thing you're already aware of the adjustment period when you come back. I knew I was going to have culture shock and it was be a hard adjustment but it was a LOT more difficult than I expected. Even over a year later I'm still adjusting. However, I came back to a MUCH smaller city and a very different lifestyle. I hope the end of your time in Korea is wonderful and hope your move back goes smoothly! Feel free to reach out if you need advice :)

Oh no!! I'm sad that you've decided to leave but I totally understand why. You were one of the reasons I left the US for SK. Your videos put me at ease and gave me the confidence I needed to take that flight. I've only been here a couple of months and I like it so far but I understand what you mean about loneliness. I understand you a bit on this. I've been in Korea for 4-5years and ultimately opted out of moving to Seoul. While I am in love with what the city has to offer me in terms of exploration, the actual pace of the city had a negative affect on me when I stayed for long periods.
For some reason, I feel like if I'm not busy while I'm in Seoul, then I'm wasting time/my life and like I can't catch up... but slowly I realized that I don't HAVE to. ^^
The small community I've built in Daegu turned out to be the right balance for me and I just visit Seoul when I feel the urge. ^^

When I 1st started watching the different epik program videos of youtubers. Your personality reeled me in because you always showed/expressed your true thoughts and feelings. Which is a liberation in itself.
Putting on a character to show face for the world isn't normal because people see through that (especially the internet 😂) but showing us the good, bad and indifferent is normal and honest. Because its what we all experience but often are too afraid to show out of fear of not appearing "perfect"
Learn to congratulate yourself. I am damn sholl proud of you! Just remember that you once prayed to be at the moment that you are in now! (; you are more than what you think love blessings to you! 😇🥰

I started following you because I also worked in Sejong (Jochiwon) in 2015/2016. I felt sad when I decided not to renew but looking back, I'm glad I didn't stay longer. I was able to go back to Korea for a vacation the year after I left and it was nice to meet up with everyone again. But I understand your feeling of being lonely. I am an extreme introvert but I totally get what you mean when you say you feel lonely. It's not homesickness but maybe more of a feeling of being a transient. We all need to put roots down somewhere and being in Korea is a temporary thing for nearly all who go there to teach.

    • @heyitsanne

Black women are leaving South Korea faster than anything else.No offense.I was watching 8 female content creators, but only 2 are left.Now,1 of thos 2, are leaving them is leaving, that's you. Some,to me are just TH-camrs that fell into the dark hole, even their TH-cam videos have gradually scared me,the change in behaviour from them living there in that country has been both scary and weird. They are just not happy there.Period.Whats really going on?.None of them wants to be completely blunt, they always stick to diluted, soft explanations..Just my analysis.....it's just too much of a coincidence for people living there to announce their departure all at the same time.(1-2 years, most of them blaming societal norms, not their work environment as an issue for their departure)...Qll of them, have also mentioned the "loneliness" part.Great work environment, for some, but they had trouble with the"loneliness",please tell us what is going on......

it’s really not that deep. a lot of people leave korea constantly, not just black women or youtubers lol. there are nearly 200 countries in the world, korea isn’t the only place that exists or that someone should stay forever

I feel lonely in London too,but hey...I love it here,it was my choice to move here and I'm thankful my life wasn't too hard. Life is what you make it. It doesn't mean Korea is horrible...why you expect that Korea would be like US? I didn't expect that UK would be similar to Brazil! I think most Americans get very confused with other countries/culture!
