Thank You!! I'm in the process of restoring a MW 1943 model. I'm to the head stock cleaning. This video helped me.

This helped a ton, thanks. I'm running a belt from #2 pulley straight down through the bed and table to a treadmill motor.

Wish I had watched this yesterday! I pulled mine out today and missed the set screws from the bottom.

Have you decided whether or not you will part out your Montgomery ward lathe. I could use a few of those parts?

I parted it out several months ago. I have a handful of random parts left, but nothing that most people want.

Did your Logan have a back gear shifter rack assembly? After 20+ years of enduring a back gear knob which locked the spindle but did not engage back gears, I realized that the latch key / detent assembly was missing . . . spring, pin, and latch key. Using the Logan Parts List, I should be able to figure out the dimensions to make these parts but I would prefer to find OEM replacements. Does your "parts lathe" have these components available? LA-264 (latch key), LA-275 (pin), & LA-238 (spring) 2thferry

Hey, This one did not have the detent or spring. This is the second 10" that I have owned where these parts were missing. My main 11" lathe has it, but that is my main lathe that I use every other day. I don't know if they break, or if people just pull them out. You should be able to check out www.lathe.com which is the Logan website. They sell NOS parts, but you may pay a little extra for them. Otherwise your best bet would be to watch out on ebay. If you can make them even better. I can run down and measure my 11". I'll post back with some dimensions.

spitfire1821 The detent lever is 1.25" long and I would make it a few thou less than what the width is on your pull bar. I did not remove mine, but it just looks like it is a triangular shape. I would cut a couple tiny notches for the spring to fit into so it doesn't slide. Should be a fairly easy part to make. Good luck. Let me know if I can help with anything else!

Thx. Looks like I may have to make it after all.

T 2thferry Since Logan Armature wants $50 for the parts, I made them myself based on their parts book description. My back gears finally working after 28 years of a role as a spindle lock . . . but very noisy (like / worse than Tubalcain's Atlas lathe)

T 2thferry Haha, Great to hear you got it working. Yeah, those things tend to be noisy. Even mine is a little louder than I would prefer, but I guess you just learn to live with it.
