@paladin danse escape pod covered by the under sea coral dune ridge that it ascends over. It was a “last minute escape” as if it was possible to build even more tension
One question that seems pretty important. How did it go from being in a ship that was torn apart and exposed to the atmosphere to being in a waterproof ship at the bottom of the ocean what magic happened to give him an intact vessel
This dropship seem to have 2 deck, passenger on the top deck that was torn apart and cargo hold on lower deck that our last guy fall into when impact into water and possible that cargo hold of the ship using different material that can withstand an acid, impact and waterproof? but still I don't know how he have time to seal the cargo hatch from water with that high impact lol
@@boysittisak1553 Not to mention if the Wind Sheer was bad enough to rip the drop ship apart to shreds, it would have torn the guy apart and no way he was holding on to anything. Still, cool CGI.
Being a spaceship, it would be obvious that the cargo ship was meant to be air tight. And despite the damage, the cargo hold seemed mostly intact. And as for how he survived, When the ship hit the ocean's surface and he fell into the hatch, it's possible that the force of the wave forced the cargo hatch shut. As for how the ship didn't disintegrate in an ocean of acid, it should be known that, when it comes to space, every precaution must be taken. So, it must've been foresight that led to building a ship that would not corrode in acid. I can't really explain why the spaceship fell apart when they entered the storm. But I can harbinger a guess that it was the result of extreme heating from entry to extreme cooling from the storm that weakened the structure. Or perhaps the storm was simply to strong for the ship to handle. This could also imply that these ships were still in their infancy, probably the first to be launched. Hence forth, there were drawbacks. Then again, we've never seen a space shuttle attempt re-entry through a storm. I reiterate that this is all just a theory based on what I know about spaceships.
For those confused on how he’s in a dry space, it appears that the ship had two sections: an upper crew/passenger area and a lower vehicle hold. Why the lower section held up FAR better than the top is a little confusing to me, but you can see a split frame right after the craft hits water that he is thrown back onto a pretty solid hatch which then closes. Mind blowingly excellent short and amazingly captivating. Makes me want to see more just from the gear used from the vehicles in the vehicle bay to the Altyn style helmets used.
Maybe since top deck had a front windscreen that was blown out, air pressure could have made torrents in the top deck and helped tear it apart. Lower deck would obviously be more armored and shielded from heat as well as not have any forward-facing windows to be blown out. Hatch wise, well, who knows. Maybe it got flipped upside down or something.
I'm with @switch, above. Given the brief shot we get close to the start that showed the underside to be almost like a Thunderbird-2 sort of module, chances are it was designed to be independent in all respects to the dropship/lifter. But yeah, this is one of the rarer kinds of videos on CG Bros that absolutely is screaming out for more.
@@ksfirewolf1530 I think the fact we're all oohing and ahhing over the video and trying to figure out the mechanics involved in the event depicted, which means going back over and over, just goes to show how damned impressive the short was, that people care enough to wonder :) I for one would like to know what that wheel before the deluge came was attached to. I'd _really_ like to know why this looked like they used _military_ dropships to evacuate a _colonist_ transport, full of people in pretty blatant military gear. "Colonists" or "Conquerors"? ... maybe their need to evacuate was the inhabitants of the world objecting to squatters :)

being able to capture someone's interest without a single word is outstanding. my only confusion was: his ship was torn completely open front and rear but when it settles on the ocean floor he's in a dry space? wasn't sure how that worked.
He fell into a cargo hold when the water flooded, from what I could see the front of the ship folded in on self (or another piece of the ship) and sealed him in. The scene is dark and goes by quickly, so it is hard to make out the details.
The retired military man in me wonders who the heck signed off on the risk assessment for this venture because it seems like they missed a few things...
