I remember Roy Jones Jr. out boxed his opponent in every round at the 1988 Olympics in Seoul South Korea & still lost to South Korea's Park Si Hun for the Gold 🏅. It's the same thing with this fight, I thought Muneta won this Judo Match. Maybe he lost because of the pause (hurt knee) or the judges just wanted the other Judo Fighter to win. Just my opinion.
@ Salo Kin I do not think it rubbish! I know that Judo has a very strong base on the newaza, but the main objective of randori is to actually bring your opponent to the ground with nague waza!

The answer is because they are both heavyweight fighter. Besides of the low ground mobility, they need to expend high levels of energy to turns someone almost unturnable, because it's as much heavy as anyone who fights this weight category.

Muneta really came out of the gate strong. Giving a legend like Kosei Inoue a hard time is no small feat
