Among all japanese champions, Muneta has always been my favorite. His technique, mental strength, humble attitude were unparallel. It was sad to see him get injured at the tail end of his career. He inspired me.
His movements are fantastic. He represents the spirit of judo. It is beautiful to see his techniques and projections to which he often accompanies the care to keep the opponent's judogi falling (see the projection in minute one for example). Something that rarely happens in today's judo.
Outstanding Compilatiion of the great Y. Muneta. One of my Judo Heroes. As you can see, he often threw men much heavier and bigger than he was. And not only threw them, but launched them flying through the air.

In my view, in the video's first throw, the rotation only comes second after the opponent is swept backwards, so I see more a harai tsuri komi ashi type of move. Please let me know what you think ?

True, but the over the top grip is pretty dominate - I am built like this guy, so it is heartening to see that one can also be dominate at that height and weight

Decides the counter movement and responds instantly and totally with ownership of his move. And they float like dolls to the pin. Super impressive. It is obvious he trusts his counter. He totally explodes and it works.He isn't even to the mat and he just looks up for the ref to see he has made his point.

I am absolutely no judo expert , but it would seem that Yasuyuki Muneta is making the best of what appears to be having a low center of gravity coupled with a small compact muscular build (and of course, excellent techniques).
