    I like using this set for cats and smaller critters, caught 43 coon and 3 cats on this set last season, definitely an effective set, no doubt!!

    Nicely done video. I appreciate your humble attitude as opposed to the "this is my way, there is no other way" stuff some folks put out. Thank you.

      @@archeryassassins5402 I've been doing this setup for about 25yrs. on the farm and have a few tips. I use round buckets which are cheap and easy to use. I cut the slits going to handle support just wide enough so springs fit snug. Hard to get just right so now I use short, round bunge cords going from spring to back of bucket. 2 cords last a long time, quick and easy. Next is to cut a round fence post in half and bend a 90* end making 2 stakes. Drill holes at top and bottom of bucket in the middle, larger than the stake. The stake now goes through the top and bottom of bucket and through the ring at end of chain till 90* presses on top of bucket. Bucket is stable and trap is secure by stake. I often attach a seperate chain going from ring under bucket to something solid but never needed it. I use 1/2 can of cat food that is placed behind stake with a little dab on the lid at entrance of bucket. Simple, quick, stable and very effective. Your tongs are square cut and very hard to use when trying to release your catch. Grind that square corner off till you have a nice hook to reach in easier to grab ahold of the spring. Good video, Thanks.

      @@trapsquatch4937 there is alot that goes into trapping a certain critter. I don't explain any of this on this vlog post. Only how to set up a 220 bucket set. If your wanting to trap coon, find a creek with water. I don't know if you live north or south but when it freezes and gets cold for awhile, coons den up. I might have to make a few set vlogs on where to set or make the trap areas. Any other questions, please dont hesitate to ask!!!

    If I didn't do this myself, I would not have caught you saying it. I had to laugh out loud when you said at the end, the two things cool about this set are "A" it's easy, and "2" you can catch multiple animals. Lol. I usually do the opposite. I start out with "1" then say "B" Lol. Great video, and would love to see more. Peace, Mo

    A little trick when using these kitty litter buckets. Keep the lid. It is kind of " hinged " with a small side and a big side. Usually you open the big side to scoop out the litter then seal the bucket back up
    I cut off the big side and leave the small side attached to the bucket
    This reduces the opening and again forces the coon down and centered on the trap. It also forces then to go more face-first into the bucket and it will somewhat eliminate larger dogs from working the set if you misplace it too close to a residential area or wild dogs are in your area. They dislike crouching too much to get at the bait
    I've even run these with the large side of the lid still attached and extended out creating more length to the box and again discouraging dogs. Just a tip

    If you bent your triggers in towards inside the bucket would that get a deeper body catch? I have a couple of small 110’s I bought for muskrat. I figured it try this set up for small possum. In case I have a raccoon visit my setup I figured if the triggers were bent in towards the inside of the bucket I’d get a deeper catch around their heads vs snapping their noses?

      No. This set is for coon, cat, possum and skunk. I've only caught 1 yote in a 220 bucket set. It's very very rare. They are to smart to go in. Footholds are the way to trap yotes

    Should I flare out the trigger like yours? I have a new one and they’re just straight down unlike yours.

    • @archeryassassins5402
      @archeryassassins5402  3 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      Sarah, you will need to spread them out like I show in the video. The reason for doing this is so the trigger doesn't hit the animal in the face while trying to access the bucket. Instead the trigger hits the top or back of the neck/back area, resulting in a body catch and not a miss.

    The spring safety getting caught at an odd angle in the trap can be a real pain. A large screwdriver helps but you don't want to change the angle any. Connibear teaps are great but they scare me somwhat.

      @@archeryassassins5402 Since I posted I since gotten a Conibear 220 trap with a setting tool. Also built a box with a screen on the end so I can set the trap and put the box next to the groundhog hole and the shed. I set everything up this way so no other animals can set the trap off and accidentally get killed. But I never got a chance to use it because I never seen the groundhogs anymore. Someone around where I live must have poisoned them.

      If I'm using the 220 for a multi set ie coon, possum, and cats. I use whatever meat I have on hand. Deer meat, duck or goose meat, Freezer burnt meat. But I also use feathers of my own chickens or waterfowl we clean for a visual in and outside of the trap. Great for cats
