    Been nursing heel issues for years so max heel cushion is a must for my 210lb frame. Nike has been my choice for a few years. 2024 gives me more choices.

    The change in 10 years will be the “foam.” Likely the shoe’s cushion will be made more efficient for less stack height.

    I have learned that I am more of a fan of ground contact shoes, I am pretty thin so lots of cushion to me feels clunky and big, so this trend of all stack all cushion is not my fave.

      same - i only run in max cushion shoes once or so a week when i'm really feeling beat up. btw if you haven't checked out the rebel v3 and you like lower stack shoes i would highly recommend it - my favorite shoe of the past year

    So, I am heavy and did a lot of walking running to loose 90 lbs. before December. I had total knee replacements dec 8 and am ready to at least get back out there. would the more v4 be good. my nimbus are about shot and the second pair doesn't feel like my first ones so I'm looking for something not hard on the knee. ride 17s hurt as well. i have wide feet

    • @supwell
      @supwell  6 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      More v4 would definitely be a good choice. I would suggest comparing to the new balance 1080v13 as well which has similar foam but is a little lighter. The 1080 is my favorite max cushioned shoe

    Ok, I’m a Saucony fanboy, but the Hurricane looks VERY Hoka Bondi(ish). Same super high stack, the outsole looks very similar, and I’m pretty sure that the Bondi came in that exact color way too. The only difference is, it probably rides better than a Hoka.

    what do you think is the better recovery shoe out of the 1080 and the gel nimbus? as a pure recovery shoe not looking for versatility

    • @supwell
      @supwell  8 หลายเดือนก่อน

      They are both excellent but the 1080v13 is my favorite soft shoe of all time. It feels a little easier to run in than the Nimbus - though the Nimbus is super comfortable, sometimes running in it I felt like I was fighting against the foam. If you live in the US though, Nimbus 25 is on sale for $120 now that 26 came out so if price is a consideration I would go Nimbus (1080v13 is $165)

    • @supwell
      @supwell  8 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      I think low 50s is the max we can do given the current foams. Prime X Strung is the only one to really pull it off. And then there are a few 45s - but with the current tech, the issue going any taller becomes heel stability and ankle support when cornering, so it would be hard to go much higher than low 50s without some unseen advance changing the game for that (even with lighter foams like the adidas Evo pro, the stabilizing issue is still there)

Nimbus 25 is $120, super soft and great for slower relaxed runs. Both are last year's version of the shoe so are discounted. Here are the links. I've seen where shoes break down and fall apart even unused. So when buying "new" shoes, how far back in the model year would you go? How long are unused shoes good for? That was a disappointing revelation for me as I had begun a nice collection with thousands of dollars worth of my favorites. Now they'll be getting worn...

    • @supwell
      @supwell  9 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      the general consensus is that unused midsole foam won't break down within the 5 to 10 years that you're likely to hold on to a shoe. for me personally, i won't buy older than last year's version, mainly because i like the new tech and at that point, you can find shoes for $70 and cheaper

    Great video. Love max cushion shoes and planning on buying a pair or two in 2024. I got the Nimbus 25 and more trail v3 this year. Can't wait for Saucony and NB's new shoes in 2024. Quick question: What are the differences between Triumph 22 and Hurricane 24? I am not familiar with Saucony as it is hard to buy from where I am located, but loving the looks+colorway of these 2 from Saucony.

    • @timtrenholm3698
      @timtrenholm3698 9 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      The Hurricane has traditionally been a stability model for Saucony, which by the looks the of the shoe it still is. You can see a medial side "post" setup to help with pronation. Hopefully they aren't using a old school post and going with the newer style more dense foam in that medial side to reduce the compression/crashing in on the medial side that heavy pronators can suffer from. I used to need pronation assistance, until I switched to a standing desk for work. I credit that step alone with moving me to a true neutral runner.

    • @supwell
      @supwell  9 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      as tim mentioned, the hurricane is going to be more stable - it has a base layer of firmer EVA on the bottom, raised sidewealls and a wider platform than the triumph. triumph is a bit lighter weight and has full PWRRUN PB peba midsole - it will be able to pick up the pace a bit more while the hurricane 24 is more of a pure recovery shoe

    Based on reviews, the 1080v13 is probably too soft for my taste but I like that they've kept the weight down. An overlooked shoe that is quite similar but not as soft is the Cumulus 25, which still has 37mm stack at about 9oz.
    Fortunately, a lot of the trainers with plastic plates come in lighter.
