Yeah the fresh grocer at 40th Walnut Street I like the same fresh grocer but the one fresh grocer at 69th street marshall road I like that one too across the street from Wawa I'm obsessed with fresh grocer thank you Philadelphia Pennsylvania
As soon as he said market, I knew it was Fresh Grocer. My former mother in law got me hooked on the one at 56th street a block from the el. My Kids who are now grown, go there. Philly tradition. Real Talk..
Kinda of funny how people are embarrassed of where they worked and where they'd go for lunch and how they came up ,I love telling my story proud of it grew up rough mom took care of us 4 all by herself had great times and hard times ain't ashamed of my up bringing at all I love my mom and for staying around instead of out being in the streets love you mom.
It's a well kept secret. Some supermarkets make excellent subs. We have two chain stores in my area that have great bread and are off the hook. Boars Head brand meats and sauces are key.
I added both to my Philly list of joints. And the Greek Lady will be on one of the first places I visit when my project restarts in University City. And grocery stores make some good made-to-order food. Way better than fast food joints. Again thank you for showing awesome food locations
Both look awesome! Living in Flushing, there's a ton of great places in the neighborhood. But, the bodega 2 blocks from me makes the best heros! If I want a good Italian hero, I'll go there before spending double at a big Italian deli.
That is a beautiful hoagie sandwich full of meat and fresh vegetables! That much sandwich is worth the price, that would feel me up all day! Break down the price x2 and it's 8 dollars a meal! I need a yummy sandwich like that right now😊!
I feel they are one of the best kept secrets around. You totally get the value for your money there. All of their hoagies are on par with any of the best places around with out the long line to wait in.
$17 for that first hoagie?! Holy cow prices are insane these days. When I lived up in Brooklyn NY, you could get a foot long for maybe $4-5 or so. Of course that was 25 years ago...
I AGREE with you on the Fresh Grocer JL. I used to go to the Fresh Grocer UP & across the street from that Greek Lady spot. University City, not too far from the V.A. Hospital folks.
During World War I, Italian immigrants who worked at the Hog Island shipyard began making sandwiches; they were initially called “hoggies” before the name hoagie took hold, The Original was DiCostanzo's Deli on 3rd St in Chester, PA. The rolls were made by a local bakery with a unique soft inside and a crusty outside, which was thought to be the result of the water used in the dough. I don't know if all of that is true, but I've heard the same story for many years from many Delaware County folks. My aunt and uncle had a sandwich shop for many years at PMC College (now Widener University) and did very well. Phil and Jims in Parkside is one of the best, ever.
@JLJupiter For a phenomenal hoagie, take a trip down Swedesboro way to the Classy Cow Food Joint. You won't be disappointed. While there, top it off with some unbelievable home made ice cream at a cash only place called Latteria just a few minutes away.
My son and daughter goto UPenn, last time I visited in Nov. We went to saads, now I wanna check out Greek Lady. My sons dorm is near there. Keep it up. Thanks for the reviews. I'm from MT.
I had heard how good these hoagies were & when I tried one I was shocked how big & heavy it was, loaded with meat & all the condiments I had requested. Other hoagies can last me two days, Fresh Grocer's lasted longer. Without a doubt, FG is now my hoagie place.
You're in my hood JL, Lol...Monument Road Fresh Grocer used to sell the foot long hoagies for $10. Broke my heart when they stopped making hoagies altogether, lol😔
Hey J.L. Juupy, the crew over here were just at Brotha's Kitchen in Glendora. You got a BIG mention from one of the fry cooks. The staff over there want you to stop in and try the NEW offerings on their menu. If possible, give the Sea, Land & Air option a go. Hope this helps Yo ! 🗣️. 🦞 🥩. 🍗. 💯
The Hoagie is made on how you see a Hoagie needs to be made, bye the ingredients and sizes of it.you can also see the texture and tenders of how the ingredients work as one. 2.The cheese steak meat fits the bread perfectly and the ingredients helps the cheese steak taste better.
*Been going to Allegros back when Billy Bobs was across the street, not The Copa. 10 cent wings in the early/mid 90s!* Used to buy my Clarks from the shoe store next to Greek Lady. That place used to be full of the college students when they first opened. I ate at Saad’s when they were they only place in the city that had lamb cheese steaks.
My favorite sub yes we call them “subs” in Central Jersey is; Turkey Ham and Turkey Pastrami with provolone cheese mayo let, onion, red pepper relish, pickles and banana peppers 👌🏽Chefs Kiss 💋
I’m at the age where i remember paying $5 for a hero. 2 weeks ago at an Italian Deli here in Haverstraw New York i paid $32 for 2 sandwiches and dropped a $2 tip. Times have changed, but my sandwiches were worth it
The Fresh Grocer at 40th & Walnut used to have that same hoagie for $10.99 about 7 years ago. The price of food has really gone up!
They were 10.99 at all the fresh grocers
Used to.... Yeah, everything used to be cheaper.
It's called inflation. No way around it.
I miss that fresh grocer
Yeah the fresh grocer at 40th Walnut Street I like the same fresh grocer but the one fresh grocer at 69th street marshall road I like that one too across the street from Wawa I'm obsessed with fresh grocer thank you Philadelphia Pennsylvania

I just had a Fresh Grocer hoagie 2 weeks ago. DELICIOUS!!! Took a couple days to eat it.
That's not comical That's what real love looks like
I remember the Greek Lady when she had a truck & they were delicious then & even better now that they have a building. Great Food!!
That 1st sandwich was a work of Art, mad props to sandwich maker.
Thats my homie and he's pretty good
It's a well kept secret. Some supermarkets make excellent subs. We have two chain stores in my area that have great bread and are off the hook. Boars Head brand meats and sauces are key.
Marrinuccis still holds number 1 for me 💯🔥
Wow you took me back. When I was using an Access Card for food (because I was not working) I loved getting those hoagies from Upenn Fresh Grocer.
Insane that we are living in a day in America where you drop $18 on a turkey sub.
Right 😂
Nuts…
Bread is easy to make the trick is to make a bunch at once and freeze whatever you don't need right away. 😂😂
Going to get worse. Soup lines soon. There would already be soup lines if not for EBT. EBT has been masking the truth out there for a damn long time.
Yup FJB and all his supporters
That's a"i gotta sit down with this" type of hogie ❤
JL, We need someone like you permanently down here in the DMV area.
Aht Aht, he ain’t going nowhere🥊😂
Check out Peaks100
@@jebiusenvyhe’s corny with a lisp
Used to order The Greek Lady takeout all the time. Glad to see it’s still thriving.
Yes sir! Fresh Grocer got that fire hoagie❤ its humongous and delicious
Now that is a hoagie right there😊
That is insanely good looking❤
I love the Greek Lady. I always took the risk of getting a parking ticket to get the lamb gyro.
JL you guys are eating well. Nothing but love for you both.
🥰🥰🥰
Everything looked ABSOLUTELY DELICIOUS! 😋
Safe Journey!
CHOLULA!!!
I love when you review a sandwich, sub or hoagie... ❤❤
Sub
I added both to my Philly list of joints. And the Greek Lady will be on one of the first places I visit when my project restarts in University City.
And grocery stores make some good made-to-order food. Way better than fast food joints. Again thank you for showing awesome food locations
Hey friend, hope you feel better soon... #ALLOVENOPRESSURE2023'
Deterding's in Lindenwold NJ has AMAZING hoagies!
I live right near there. They are ok but not better than Fresh Grocer. Not even close.
@@Truckin2eat oooooo ill have to try it

Missing Philly right now! 😢jus for the food alone!😂 we don’t have hoagie day in Tennessee 😢
Yeah, it's true that sometimes the best tasting foods are at not so attractive or popular places. That looks like a classic sandwich there.
I totally agree about the one at 56th and market. Oh my God.
New Jersey and Philly is super generous when it comes to the meat! (No diddy)
I feel they are one of the best kept secrets around. You totally get the value for your money there. All of their hoagies are on par with any of the best places around with out the long line to wait in.
Best hoagies in Philly hands down !
$17 for that first hoagie?! Holy cow prices are insane these days. When I lived up in Brooklyn NY, you could get a foot long for maybe $4-5 or so. Of course that was 25 years ago...
You're not wrong but that thing was huge. A 10 inch wawa hoagie is over 8 bucks for example but has way less meat and toppings.
You can thank dementia Joe Biden for the insane inflation.
I AGREE with you on the Fresh Grocer JL. I used to go to the Fresh Grocer UP & across the street from that Greek Lady spot.
University City, not too far from the V.A. Hospital folks.
Looks very yummy 😋 kudos. Enjoy.

Damn. That looks good. I love Hoagies. 👍🏿
Looks amazing. Damn I wish I was closer so I could enjoy the hoagie and cheesesteak game up in Philly more often.
I'm so jealous I miss it up there too

ShopRite in Drexel Hill was a bangin' place to get lunch, too - was like a mini-food court inside. The Lasalle location is great, too.
My son and daughter goto UPenn, last time I visited in Nov. We went to saads, now I wanna check out Greek Lady. My sons dorm is near there. Keep it up. Thanks for the reviews. I'm from MT.

That hoagie looks soooo good.😋
That jawn looks fire.
18 for that huge sandwhich isn't bad. Subway is 13.00 now and it sucks.
Fresh Grocer has been a staple for hoagies for years but $18 though DAMN that’s crazy
Drooling 🤤
Fresh grocer is that work 👍🏾👍🏾

Happy Saturday. Enjoy. I love Philly Cheese steaks. The best. I will be there this year. Haunted house... ❤️🐞
ran into you at work today it was nice seeing and i believe if you would've bought the regular turkey it would've been like 10.99
Are you, by any chance, a 76ers fan? That would certainly explain the hoarseness! 😊
You on Grey's ferry?
