Oh absolutely there are but it's more to show that if you can't give any sort of info to verify they are the correct passenger then I can't take them because I don't know if she was the right person or not.
Real Rideshare Stories that’s true - those are the rules (although I use Uber/Lyft almost every day and I have never once been asked by the driver to provide his/her name before getting ... or after getting in either. But I’m not an Uber driver and you are, so I’ll defer to your knowledge about the rules, but I disagree with the statement that Uber drivers know nothing about the passenger except a name. My Uber profile has a picture of me, and my rating. Not saying that’s a lot of info, but it’s pretty much the same as the info we get on our drivers... I mean - sure, we get info about your car and license plate number - but how else are we supposed to know that you’re there to pick us up? It’s not like we can run a quick DMV check on your driver’s license and vehicle history to make sure we’re getting in a safe car. That’s supposed to be Uber’s (the company) job. When I get an Uber, all I look for is the car and the plate number. I can’t even pronounce 75% of the names of the drivers that come pick me up - and they probably don’t ask because their English language skills are lacking. So quit bitching about how stupid Uber riders are, or how every passenger is out to scam or hurt you in some way. Grow the fuck up and accept that you have CHOSEN to work with the general public and you have CHOSEN to use your “personal” vehicle while you do. No one has the right to disrespect you, and no one has the right to be rude to you - I agree 100%. But this lady did neither of those things. The fact that this encounter made it to TH-cam makes me think that you didn’t give a crap about the person you were supposed to pick up - you just wanted to get some video for your rants. If this is as disrespectful and rude as your riders get, you’re a very lucky guy. I’m sure everyone in the country who works with the public has dealt with customers far more disrespectful and rude than this. Your attitude sucks. You come across as someone who hates his job and is looking for ways to amuse himself while inconveniencing the very people who PAY him. You’re not special. You’re not better than the people that get in your car. You’re just an arrogant ass who’s embarrassed that he has to resort to driving other people around to earn a living. Here’s the thing - driving people around for money is not demeaning. It is earning your way. You may feel you can be so much more, but you’re the one putting these videos on line. You do it under the pretence that you’re “helping” other Uber drivers, but you’re really doing it so when people say “what do you do for a living” you don’t have to say “I’m JUST an Uber driver”. You may do this part time - I don’t know you - but you seem to really hate your job and you take it out on everyone else - including the people who pay you. You’re a bad Uber ambassador - I can think of a ton of different ways you could have handled this situation that would have saved an Uber customer. I certainly would dump Uber and start using Lyft if an Uber driver did this to me. One last thing. Of course anyone who works with the public has to take steps to ensure their safety - like making sure the right person gets in the car - but as a passenger, especially a female passenger, the risk is a lot higher. You are (and should be) in control of your car, and where it goes. Anyone getting in your car is taking a much higher risk than the one you take by letting them into your car. You are in total control of them and have all the power. You can pretty much take them anywhere you want to - you’re in the driver’s seat. Literally. We spend all our life being told to be wary of strangers and not to get in their car, and if we’re going to meet someone IRL that we have only seen online, we need to be extra cautious ... and along comes Uber. Now it’s fine to find someone on line and get in their car - and then PAY them for not killing you in a car accident or worse. At least when you take a legal taxi, you’ve got some assurances regarding your safety. You are all of the bad things people hate about taxi drivers, with none of the good things.
“Drivers are not taking shit anymore”. I love it. Never had a real problem until this one. 2500 rides approximately, I took on a daylight ride this week, 1 huge black dude in the front and 2 whorish looking white young females in the back seat in my XL car. We started out from the parking lot for a short ride and the car warned for front seat belt connection. I had to say twice buckle up please because he was testing me, I think. He had a hoody on and he had a symbol for his name. So he hooks up his belt behind his body, and I saw that. I told him that was bullshit and the ride was over. He argued as I was pulling over, and then he put the belt on correctly. I said thank you and completed the short ride. He actually said thank you when he left. He was rated a 5 at the start of the trip, I gave him a 1 when it was over. I reported this to Uber in the app and actually got a pretty reassuring response from a person who gave me his name. Hopefully if enough drivers memorialize these events , we can let drivers, riders, and Uber know that even in broad daylight, this is a crazy world. Plus, despite what the the terms of service are, how would a bad rider know that there is a Glock 9 mm 2 feet from their guts?
Good to make sure he was buckled safely and yes “no more shit!” AP Problems happen rarely but they do and the more people see it happening with what others are doing, I think they will feel more comfortable standing up for themselves and their car. It’s still the fun rides that make it great.
He told the lady im here for a man Lady: ok but dont charge my daughter if you're not picking me up. Me: what? If he's not your driver how can he charge your daughter???
This happened many times to me. After having this conversation they always gave me low ratings. So when if they ask me that “what is my name BS. I cancel the ride. I have to protect my rating. They need to learn how to use the app and have some logic.
I had a video similar to this with two instances where me, the driver, would verify info, and the pax would as well. The other time the pax couldn't verify the pax name
I canceled a ride for a man. A woman called man in background said, "tell him he is nowhere near the pickup" she said I was like a mile away... my heart started beating hard and I was instantly sweating. I said I can't see the map. She kept talking, I said I was sorry, but I had to cancel. I emailed Lyft. It could've been innocent, but I felt like I was about to get robbed.
Oh gotcha. Sorry i misunderstood. I read it as you overheard another person talking on the phone, not you. Yeah stick with your gut feelings, they usually are right and not worth the risk for a few bucks in this case.
@@ChrisPza716 my windshield cracked cause my amp overheated it. Defrost was on. Snow on the hood. You can put the video in an episode. It cracks around 4 min 50 sec in. 🙁
Variations of this situation happen to me every weekend in the Boston market. I often cancel and it hurts my rating which is more evidence Uber really isnt concerned with my safety.
I’m a driver but people have ordered me rides before on uber so I’m not against someone else other than the account holder getting in. Long as they verify my name
Heres the thing i always wondered: If it is a scam and shes trying to get a free ride somehow, how does she know you're a uber driver and not just some random guy waiting in his car in a crowded parking lot? Know what i am saying?
In several areas including mine, we have to have the window dressing decals in the windshield. Anyone could see I am a driver for Uber and Lyft and pulling up to the door. She could have been the person but she couldn't verify the name on whoever ordered the ride and I won't take anyone who can't verify at least something.
@@ChrisPza716 ehhh you dont have to, but to answer his question there are multiple ways, 1 they can see if ur online and waiting for a ride on the pax app, 2 uber lights, 3 decals, 4 dash cam, 5 phone holder......
Once I ordered an uber and another car/driver showed up. They obviously had the specific address. I refused to get in car (sorry) and she was like "oh its my boyfriends account" and I was like "no sorry, it's just not happening for all sorts of safety reasons. Please get your own account"
I’ve now a Uber/Lyft driver. But before I was a rider for several years. Not once was I asked to say their name. I didn’t know that was a thing until I started driving
The name verfication is a protection for the rider as well. Who wants to get in some stranger's car thinking you are getting a ride for pay and it turns out to be someone with ill intentions?
Curious, does it help to have a clear face pic uploaded onto your account to help identify yourself? I never had to say the driver's name, just my own and that seems to be enough.
The pictures are always good to have so it can help identify you especially in a crowd like an event, bar, or public area. Yeah verifying either your name or the drivers is good enough, as long as one of those is the same its good. Some will also verify the correct drop off location as well which can help with putting in a wrong address. Uber also now has the pin in most markets where you would provide the driver with a pin code in order for the ride to start if you wanted to use that option as well.
I'm sorry, but there is no reason for the driver to say the rider's name. It has to be an open ended question with them confirming the name (which, still carries the risk of them having the same name as your actual passenger). Scammers can find out your name through other methods: word-of-mouth, they have received a previous ride from you, you have notoriety in your town from other gigs, etc. Legitimate riders can have the wrong vehicle (in one case, I had riders get in my vehicle because they had the right driver name, but there were two drivers with the same name). And yes, you can have them confirm the destination as an extra level of confirmation. But that means you would already have started the trip, and that they are now in your vehicle. And once a person who is not your rider is in your vehicle, it can be difficult to get them out and track them after the fact. Riders need to match up the license plate on the vehicle to the app, and drivers need to hear the rider say the same on the account. Those are the most reliable methods of matching rider-to-driver currently. I hope Uber and Lyft institute this code-swap option soon - genuinely. I feel it will help solve a lot of these confirmation issues.
Yes they do need to be the first to answer any questions and I agree with the code. They are testing this in certain markets now and I’m sure will be rolling out to all markets soon. Then it’ll be “say my code” lol
No you are absolutely right. My daughter picked someone up who agreed to be someone else for a ride. If they don’t know their name or mine, they can’t get in.
I had a passenger today refuse to identify, and then get upset when I cancelled on her. She even said drivers photos, car info and license plate can all be forged. Needless to say lyft totally backed me up when I called them to report why I cancelled the trip. Its was night and I just want to be safe out there.
I feel bad for the first lady and I don't think she was rude in the least.. she clearly was just very confused and didn't know what was going on. I think the driver was in the wrong for saying she was rude. Was he wrong for not taking her? Absolutely not. She probably just doesn't know how Uber works since she's older. I know my mom most likely wouldn't be able to figure it out and she would never in a million years be disrespectful to another human being, but I know she would be confused and wouldn't know what to do.
Yeah, she wasn't rude. Her daughter ordered the ride, but the daughter neglected to show her how to verify the ride so she doesn't get in the wrong car.
So when the say my name scam works, the scammer just goes wherever the person who ordered the ride was planning on going and calls it a win? I cant see how it helps them.
It could be in the direction they want to go but they could also say something like their phone has died and they can't update the app and put in the wrong drop off point and have the driver change it. Then they could get to their destination. Also if you don't verify who the person is, they can make a false report of the driver didn't take them and must have taken someone else.
The way she was talking started getting rude. She couldn't verify anything that would let me know she was the correct passenger. Any name she said didn't match.
This guy has done hundreds if not thousands of rides. When you work in any industry long enough, especially dealing with customers, you develop both experience and instincts. She can't provide any information. She gets in his car, something happens doesn't even have to be an accident, and people like this will sue you up to your eyeballs. So hes correct, this ride wasn't going to go well. There should be no third party riders unless the person paying verifies.
My only issue I guess with this is that when I put my car in park it unlocks itself lol but I haven’t had the issue of picking up the wrong person yet. I’ve only done 6 rides so far.
I think it’s pretty fun. Met some interesting people already. And I think there is a way to change it so I’ll have to figure that out before my next ride.
@@dan15d20 it makes more sense that you both have to say who you are. Because if you're a kidnapper any name I say you're going to say yes too. And if I'm trying to "steal" a ride I'm going to say yes to any name you say. So the driver should say hi my name is______. And that way the rider knows they're OK and they rider should ALSO have to say their name 🤷🏽♀️ problem solved.
SOLUTION: Type in message to driver BEFORE Pickup what your wearing such as: "Wearing Red Hawaiian Shirt and Blue Jeans" that way the driver can ID and you dont waste your time back n forth with he said/she said crap!
I had Uber drivers pick me up and say my name before I get in and I always tell them I could’ve scammed them when they do that some Uber drivers don’t even know about the scam
Not tying to start controversy, but I’m really confused on why someone would would want to get into a Uber that’s not there’s when there’s a set destination. Wouldn’t they be going out of there way?
I don’t know who you are! Pax get upset that I passed them by, while on my way to the actual pickup spot. How am I supposed to know who you are, when you’re not at the designated pickup spot. I’m referring to Las Vegas, Caesar’s Palace Forum Shops Garage pickup.
Oh yeah I could imagine. Exactly, we don’t know who anyone is and those pickup zones are there because it’s the law or what’s worked out for best flow of traffic. I’ll be in Vegas next month and I make sure I put the pin exactly where I am or make sure I’m at the designated pick up spots.
If a ride starts out problematic like this and you are getting friction from the rider, it's wise to cancel. You are probably going to get a low rating.
Bro...they're taking 50% percent. Fact. I'm hearing passangers tell eachother out loud how much the fair cost them during the ride. Verbadum one said "it cost me like 20 something bucks". At the end of that ride I got he fair and it was $10.38. There you go boys and girls, the truth.
Yes. They should answer it first. They have your information. You only have a name. They should answer who the driver is or even if they say their name and it matches then I verify their address by asking them to simply verify the address.
I guess idk why it's "say my name" and not "introduce yourself" lol that way I say 'my name is...' You confirm that's who you're here to pick up you say what your name is I confirm that's who's supposed to be picking me up.
@@ChrisPza716 that's terrible. My main customers are younger people so that kind of makes sense to me. Not all but a lot don't have respect for what people do for them. To me it's a respect thing. We use our own cars own gas pay for repairs and to clean and make surw our cars are spotless for them.
People do it often and will say something where they typed in the wrong address and to take them somewhere else. They could also get in the wrong car and not pay attention. For drivers, verifying the right rider is good to not allow that and people who make a false report saying they didn't get the ride and the driver drove off without them. Just protecting drivers when doing that
So let me get this right. You expect someone who could be drunk to the point of incoherence to be able to verify a license plate or name? That’s a recipe for rape, robbery, and murder. Oh wait...that’s actually happened. Such entitled uber drivers. Sad.
@@tzarzinjo3766 Poor planning? Cabs and ride share are *supposed to* assist people in getting to their destination. What would you prefer? More drunk drivers?
If i was in there place i would say a fake name and then be oh sorry it is you and as soon as they are trying to open the door i will not unlocked it and stay there until the real person comes there
hey... i STILL get this shit. a lot of it has gone away finally, but I still get maybe 2 out of 10 riders that say who are you here for? my doors stay LOCKED I tell them the same thing you do. l need your name. they say no, you're supposed to say my name. they realize they're not getting the ride, so they will go ahead and tell me their name. but 4/5 times, they feel that they 'lost' the battle on say my name, and will 1-star me when they leave. NOW--- for my own safety of not putting my rating at risk - if I say "HI, what's your name?" and they give me shit - and say "NO, you're supposed to say who you're here for" - to protect myself and my ratings, I gotta walk away from the ride and cancel. what's really messed up?? -- these particular riders that insist I say their name - tell me that I am the only person that does this. they say "all my drivers drive up to me and say Hi, are you Susan?" that I'm the only driver that wont say their name. if that really is the case -- are those drivers STUPID??
I hear you there. A good thing with the ratings is you can usually make it good with some conversation where they think that at the end of the ride overall. Making it better. That could help so you don't have to cancel as much. When passengers say that, I'm sure they are about 50% telling the truth where most drivers don't ask (because a lack of training on what's allowed or not and best practices) and the other half of drivers do know the rules. People will say a lot of things to try and pressure you into doing something they know isn't right. Just stick to the rules and make sure to have a dash camera and make a report if necessary. Be safe out there
Driver looks like he is lying at 2:32. He bites his lip and says no. The passenger had a unisex name and he thought it was a male passenger with that name up until this point. He then goes onto explain how rude the passenger was even though he just lied to her. What a joke.
@@ChrisPza716 You had literally 3 tells that you were lying immediately after you said no... Nice doubling down now. Used to like your videos and now I view you as a petty liar. I'll dislike any video I see of yours now.
Haha. First off. No I wasn’t lying. Nice try. Second, she couldn’t give me the name of anyone to verify the ride whatsoever. Just because I bit my lip or anything doesn’t mean there’s a lie. What’s the point then? That’s stupid. Continue on trolling and have fun cause it doesn’t mean anything.
Yeah. They do have that but it’s optional and most people don’t know about it. It should be mandatory. Gives peace of mind for both that they are the correct driver and rider pair.
I’m an Uber driver and I gotta say this guy really takes offense to the most ridiculous things. Like he’s got the thinnest skin I’ve ever seen. I feel like if you’re going to work in an environment that has you interacting with a lot of different kinds of people you should be a little more flexible in your approach to each situation. This dude just refuses to compromise on anything, which I get to a certain extent but the woman looking for her ride was legit the only one looking for an Uber there. Not saying that makes it her but you didn’t even bother trying to get to the bottom of it. She wasn’t rude, just trying to find her ride and probably frustrated.
Stupid question - how is this scam supposed to work? Isn't the destination set by the paying customer through the app. So even if some random scammer gets into the car, wouldn't the Uber driver take him to the destination showed in the app.. pretty low chance the scammer actually wanted to go there. Missing something obvious here i guess.
There’s two parts of “say my name” one is the safety and controversial part where who actually is supposed to say their name first (passenger is supposed to verify the correct ride as drivers only get a name) but the scam side is where a scammer passenger will say something like “say my name” or just get in the car (should always have your doors locked before letting anyone in and verify the correct rider) and say your my driver. If the driver doesn’t correctly identify the passenger and has a ride jacker or Lyftjacker then the passenger could simply say “I put the wrong address in and my phone is dead can you just go to this location instead?” It can be set up a little different but that’s the scam part. Then there’s also the possibility that someone does get into the correct ride but creates a false report later saying the driver took the wrong passenger and having dash cam footage would disprove that false report.
@@ChrisPza716 Wow, people are actually willing to attempt such a low success scam for a free ride, seriously wtf. I'm from eastern europe, we have uber here and if you try an obvious scam like that and get caught 50% chance the uber driver will punch you in the face
Yeah. You need to verify who you are picking up. Can Ashley’s ask “what’s your name” “what’s the name of who ordered the ride” or “what’s your drivers name” to help verify.
Easiest thing is for a passenger to verify the info they have in the app (license plate, car, look at driver) then the driver needs to get the passengers name or passenger can say their drivers name or show the app to verify. It’s pretty simple but not to have the passenger say “say my name” and the driver just think it’s the correct passenger.
Ive had a driver ask me to say their name tho... It confused me. I thought he was trying to emphasize that I should recognize from somewhere 😂 like an old friend. I wasn't hip to this being a thing. Five stars tho! It was a great ride and I guess his wife had a baby or something. Cute. I miss being a passenger sometimes.
It sounds to me like you’re looking to do rude things like that, for the content of your channel. I’ve been driving for Uber for over a year now. So what the passenger doesn’t know your name. You could have asked WHERE that passenger was going, to avoid all of that extra conflict. Come on man. Some of these videos are unnecessary. Ok they don’t know your name. People call Lyft and Uber for other people all of the time. Getting all butt hurt just because people want to know who you are?? Lol Now if they don’t have ANY info whatsoever, then that’s different. But you say a name and they don’t respond. Ask where they’re going. If they don’t know that, then you politely roll your window up and drive off. I’ve given over 6,000 rides. 5 Star rating. We have to be professionals about these situations. I’ve seen some of your videos and I like the content. But you were REACHING on this one bro. Side note - Half of the people on here commenting that you don’t have to tell the passenger your name, are the same ones telling people “to just cooperate” with the police. Lol Make your minds up, weirdos. Lol
No, I don't manipulate rides for content. There's no reason for it. I stick to the rules and law. People can do whatever they want at that point. Also, you don't see where they are going until you start the ride in Uber. Can't verify that way and I don't start any ride until I verify I have the correct passenger. Also in this case, she couldn't tell me the right name of the person who ordered the ride at all or my name. I don't mind if someone else ordered the ride for another but they better know my name or who ordered the ride to verify. As I said in the video, it could have been the correct person but not knowing my name or the account holder or even showing me a text conversation with my license plate or name then I can't verify that person is the correct passenger.
geealanking I thought you couldn’t SEE the destination until you STARTED the ride. So.. how can you verify the destination? I’m asking-because I don’t know how to verify before starting the ride.
Born 2 B Mensch as soon as you click “arrive,” it shows you EXACTLY where the passenger is going. Address and all. Then they have 5 minutes to arrive. 2 1/2 if it’s a shared ride. As soon as you hit that arrive button it shows you everything you need to know. So you can always ask the passenger the address of the destination to verify if they’re the right person or not.
It can happen two different ways. 1st is that they are really are the correct rider but call up and saw it wasn’t them and the second is where someone could get in and say their phone died and they can’t change the destination so tell the driver to go somewhere else.
Omg so last year I was in San Diego with my boyfriend and we got an Uber. We saw a car that was the same color as the Uber and so I ran up to it and was about to open the door and I heard it get locked. The lady waved her finger back and forth(no) and nodded her head(no) and I was so embarrassed. They had gotten there at the same time and she was slowly driving around. The driver was a male and when I saw her that’s when I realized.. Good memory though. cx
That happened to a woman here in Florida. She was drunk and got into a car that she thought was her Uber. The driver of that car pulled out his gun and shot and killed her. So scary!!!!
I would say that I'm genuinely confused why the name thing is such a issue. It's not hard to remember, pretty simple procedure! However, I worked in hospitality for 20 years so I know full well that there are plenty of morons out there! The amount of times people try to pull the same tricks almost makes you embarrassed for them. Started off as a barman at 18 and the old "I gave you a 20" trick gets old fast. General life tip. Don't be a knob. Treat people how you expect to be treated and enjoy life, it's too short for all the bs!
Can you explain to me why it's not the passenger asking the driver to state their name and than the passenger confirms their own name? Also based on voices alone, that woman did not sound rude at all. But that's just based on sound alone.
If the driver says the name who ordered the ride, they simply can say “yeah that’s me” when in fact it might not. Many people get into the wrong rides all the time. Passengers after being paired with a driver get the license plate, make and model, the drivers pic and name so they have multiple ways to verify the correct driver. Drivers only get a name and the pick up spot. Drivers need to be able to verify they have the correct passenger. In that video, the audio was quiet but she wasn’t being rude until the ending part. Either way, she couldn’t verify the correct names of myself or who ordered the ride.
@@ChrisPza716 what I meant was, why couldn't the passenger ask for the driver to state his own name first and the passenger could than say their own name?
Real Rideshare Stories no matter how much you try to explain simple things... some folks just won’t get it. My anxiety just got turnt all the way up. 🥴 I don’t know any other way you can possibly break it down. Ugh
As a driver for five years myself. I totally understand his position as a driver, BUT, his attitude was horrible. You can still be nice and deny a passenger. What's up with the sun glasses?
hey chris i just saw this video maybe i commented on it before but saw it again actually, the title is wrong, although your intentions are correct, the passenger does not say the drivers name, yes the passenger does need to look at the 5 things of the car, and the passenger has to say there name, BUT, just like the driver isnt supposed to say the passengers name, the passenger isnt supposed to say the drivers, name, for safety reasons, lol cause both parties can agree and lie, ya on ur end ya they can say ur name cause u know who u are, but the pax would say the same thing they know who they are and would want u to say theyre name, thats why neither party is supposed to say the name for the other party, the driver doesnt say the paxs name the pax doesnt say the drivers name, they both say there own name and check the 4 things on the car, then they both can show the phone screens later...just to be number 1 correct way nbut yes there are multiple ways to do it, so if a passenger walks up and says are you chris....thats a way to do it but its still wrong although it makes u feel good as a driver, you know that as the driver you could still not be chris you could be justin agreeing to the name chris seeeee, thats why both parties are supposed to say theyre own name
Yeah that could be true but the person stealing the ride will use the line “my phone died and can’t update the app” or “a friend ordered the ride and put in the wrong address” or “take me to this place instead” and tell the driver to go to a different address.
@@ChrisPza716 Ok, that makes sense. You have more experience than me. I assumed you could say, "I am only allowed to go the destination the app tells me to." They might bail on you on that point, but it might mess up your fare. Most drivers usually ask my name and if I'm headed to such and such a place before I even get it. I've seen their license plate, so I know it's my ride and we've agreed verbally what the destination will be.
DJ Khaled: Say my name Driver:DJ KHALED DJ: that’s right This is what I do, I’ll be like is this “ Are you Smith?” they most likely say yes However I wanna hear from them what is the address they wanna go to if it doesn’t match I wouldn’t take anybody nowhere
As long as they say it first. I don't know who they are and passengers have all our info. I usually ask for the name and they give me theirs and then I will say "I am Chris" but never say it before
What would you do that show made this a thing for women getting into random dudes cars. I can see it being safe but I can see it from the drivers side. (I think the show did this before all the stuff was added to the app)
Were you talking about the news? The girl who got killed in South Carolina, someone related to her said to do that and other news stations had said it as well. This was all in the last year where this has happened.
There is the controversial side of things where the rider was demanding the driver to say their name when its the driver who is supposed to verify the rider before the ride even begins but the scam happens when a person wants to create confusion to steal the ride. They will demand the say my name and then say yeah thats right and gloss over being the right person. Then they will say something like my phone died and cant update the location, go here instead and some drivers fall for it. It can also open the door for a person to make a false report. Most rides it won't be a problem but gotta watch out for those that could potentially make it one.
the companies must provide the customer info to the drivers and they can do it whenever the customer downloads and install the apps.i drive uber in kolkata , india and i did face many problems and even late night passengers doing shit in the car. in one incident with a cab operating company OLA( which i drive alongside uber in my same car) a driver got murdered as the passengers booked the car to steal it. arrests made later but a life is lost and his wife recieved Rs500000 as compensation from ola which is not much as compared to a life.here uber provides the same amount if death on duty thats all. so we driver wait for the call from the passengers before moving the car towards them and at odd hours even ask for the destination areas too, if they refuse to say i simply cancel the ride charging them the fee or if needed i mention the areas i wont go at that time.fuckin the company pressure of rating and calls, as i mention them what bout my security? these calls are not made by decision making employees but outsourced call centre employees who is merely a machine replacement. so good job bro keep it up make safe for all the drivers around the world.
Thanks and yeah drivers need to have protections in place. It's been hard to try and get anything but yet it's very easy to begin with at sign up or retroactive all current account holders. You know, she didn't really seem that bad to me , just a bit confused with the uber stuff. Trust me there are way worse people out there.
Oh absolutely there are but it's more to show that if you can't give any sort of info to verify they are the correct passenger then I can't take them because I don't know if she was the right person or not.
i agree...i didnt see anything wrong. she was not rude or disrespectful.
She didn't seem rude to me. She's probably just not great with technology and was confused.
You may do this part time - I don’t know you - but you seem to really hate your job and you take it out on everyone else - including the people who
pay you.
You are all of the bad things people hate about taxi drivers, with none of the good things.
that dude right! He just wanted a youtube video..
Passenger: Say my name.
Driver: Destiny's Child. Now get lost.😂

Good to make sure he was buckled safely and yes “no more shit!” AP
Problems happen rarely but they do and the more people see it happening with what others are doing, I think they will feel more comfortable standing up for themselves and their car. It’s still the fun rides that make it great.

I’ve now a Uber/Lyft driver. But before I was a rider for several years. Not once was I asked to say their name. I didn’t know that was a thing until I started driving
Yeah it’s just a way to verify the correct person of getting into the car and can open up to scams or issues.
This app needs improvements
Yeah it does.
Yeah, good move
I had a passenger today refuse to identify, and then get upset when I cancelled on her. She even said drivers photos, car info and license plate can all be forged. Needless to say lyft totally backed me up when I called them to report why I cancelled the trip. Its was night and I just want to be safe out there.
Smart move. Any passenger who refuses to verify themselves isn't getting a ride! No reason not to give that info.
my rider would not give me her name i cancelled it she would not leave and said I'm call the police I said call it my car lol she finally left omg
Right she wasn’t even rude he just didn’t want to take her
Yeah, she wasn't rude.
How was she rude?
The way she was talking started getting rude. She couldn't verify anything that would let me know she was the correct passenger. Any name she said didn't match.

Every time I order an Uber for my friend, and when her Uber arrives for her the first thing she always says is my name
That works also. As long as info matches then its good to go.
Plus, I always text her a screenshot of the driver info. This way she has all the info on her phone.

I never understood how this process is done. Someone explain because I don’t wanna fuck up my chances with a ride :/
Easiest thing is for a passenger to verify the info they have in the app (license plate, car, look at driver) then the driver needs to get the passengers name or passenger can say their drivers name or show the app to verify. It’s pretty simple but not to have the passenger say “say my name” and the driver just think it’s the correct passenger.
here before it's viral
Ive had a driver ask me to say their name tho... It confused me. I thought he was trying to emphasize that I should recognize from somewhere 😂 like an old friend. I wasn't hip to this being a thing. Lol yeah, hopefully things will get back to normal soon!
I'm sorry I don't get it. I get the part that they may be scamming for a free ride but why would they want to go to another strangers destination?
It can happen two different ways. 1st is that they are really are the correct rider but call up and saw it wasn’t them and the second is where someone could get in and say their phone died and they can’t change the destination so tell the driver to go somewhere else.
You should add "just a boring rant video" in the title
Omg so last year I was in San Diego with my boyfriend and we got an Uber.
We saw a car that was the same color as the Uber and so I ran up to it and was about to open the door and I heard it get locked.
The lady waved her finger back and forth(no) and nodded her head(no) and I was so embarrassed.
They had gotten there at the same time and she was slowly driving around.
The driver was a male and when I saw her that’s when I realized..
Good memory though. cx
Lol, I see that happen often. The faces are priceless when I get the chance to see it. At least she didn't start driving you.
That happened to a woman here in Florida. She was drunk and got into a car that she thought was her Uber. The driver of that car pulled out his gun and shot and killed her. So scary!!!!
Don't blame any of u guys about not taking any bullshit from any passengers..
Yeah. Most passengers aren’t bad but those few....
I agree with you 100%. It's amazing out there all over the place, not just the Uber and Lyft world.
Mys Led are you on drugs? 🤦🏾♀️
What's up with the sun glasses?
here before a million subs
Noted! That’s a goal for sure!
@@ChrisPza716 I get this all the time!! Especially with people that take Multiple rides during weekend.
Close call almost picked up that trash.
HAHA. Close but not this time, lol.
Can’t stand rude people like that.
I hear ya.
hey chris i just saw this video maybe i commented on it before but saw it again actually, the title is wrong, although your intentions are correct, the passenger does not say the drivers name, yes the passenger does need to look at the 5 things of the car, and the passenger has to say there name, BUT, just like the driver isnt supposed to say the passengers name, the passenger isnt supposed to say the drivers, name, for safety reasons, lol cause both parties can agree and lie, ya on ur end ya they can say ur name cause u know who u are, but the pax would say the same thing they know who they are and would want u to say theyre name, thats why neither party is supposed to say the name for the other party, the driver doesnt say the paxs name the pax doesnt say the drivers name, they both say there own name and check the 4 things on the car, then they both can show the phone screens later...just to be number 1 correct way nbut yes there are multiple ways to do it, so if a passenger walks up and says are you chris....thats a way to do it but its still wrong although it makes u feel good as a driver, you know that as the driver you could still not be chris you could be justin agreeing to the name chris seeeee, thats why both parties are supposed to say theyre own name
Disrespect=get kicked
Every time!
How was she rude
She was VERY RUDE.
They should add rider ratings so other drivers know what to expect
What do you mean, did you mean something different? Drivers get the passenger rating when the ride comes up during the accept/deny screen.
@@ChrisPza716 oh I've never used it so i didnt know. But that seems helpful
@@chumisntfum1614 Oh ok, yeah it is very useful. Many drivers have a lowest rating they will accept. Mine is 4.8 or lower is denied nearly every time
I disagree. Both parties should prove to the other.
Will somebody explain to me why somebody would want to steal somebody’s ride?
So they don't have to pay for the ride.
Real Rideshare Stories how’s that make sense tho they would be going to where somebody else wanted to go
Wait a minute, how can you steal an Uber ride? What if its destination is on the opposite end of town to your destination?
DJ Khaled: Say my name
Driver:DJ KHALED
DJ: that’s right
This is what I do, I’ll be like is this “ Are you Smith?” they most likely say yes
However I wanna hear from them what is the address they wanna go to if it doesn’t match I wouldn’t take anybody nowhere
Pound salt?....It's 'Kick rocks', yo!

@@mace422004 ...Exactly!!
Biff- "Make like a tree and get out of here"
Here's a better idea don't f****** drive for Uber how about that
Why not just tell them your name...and then have them say theur name as well. Both win.
I’m really confused how does this scam work?
There is the controversial side of things where the rider was demanding the driver to say their name when its the driver who is supposed to verify the rider before the ride even begins but the scam happens when a person wants to create confusion to steal the ride. They will demand the say my name and then say yeah thats right and gloss over being the right person. Then they will say something like my phone died and cant update the location, go here instead and some drivers fall for it. It can also open the door for a person to make a false report. Most rides it won't be a problem but gotta watch out for those that could potentially make it one.
How does the say my name can works
the companies must provide the customer info to the drivers and they can do it whenever the customer downloads and install the apps.i drive uber in kolkata , india and i did face many problems and even late night passengers doing shit in the car. in one incident with a cab operating company OLA( which i drive alongside uber in my same car) a driver got murdered as the passengers booked the car to steal it. arrests made later but a life is lost and his wife recieved Rs500000 as compensation from ola which is not much as compared to a life.here uber provides the same amount if death on duty thats all. so we driver wait for the call from the passengers before moving the car towards them and at odd hours even ask for the destination areas too, if they refuse to say i simply cancel the ride charging them the fee or if needed i mention the areas i wont go at that time.fuckin the company pressure of rating and calls, as i mention them what bout my security? these calls are not made by decision making employees but outsourced call centre employees who is merely a machine replacement. so good job bro keep it up make safe for all the drivers around the world.
Thanks and yeah drivers need to have protections in place. It's been hard to try and get anything but yet it's very easy to begin with at sign up or retroactive all current account holders. Most people are going to be ok with it and if they aren't then what are they hiding? I do hope more safety measures go in place that do actually make a difference but always be safe out there and be aware of everything going on near and in your car
Drive safe bro love and support from Kolkata
in my country you have to provide an OTP... is that not the case in america??
No not yet. They are still testing it and not sure why it needs so much testing. It's only being tested in a few markets and optional right now
@@ChrisPza716 its been in my third world country since 2016... you get into a cab... say your OTP... the driver enters it into his phone... if accepted.. ride starts.. else FO 😂😂
@@Aniketshyam Yeah I don't know why they don't have it here really yet. Simple enough to do. lol.
@@ChrisPza716 maybe americans think of giving an OTP to a driver as an insult
I order a ride for my adult daughter all the time. I screenshot the info and text it to her. It’s not that hard at all. Why are people so stupid.
That's great. Then they know and can show it if needed. That would work for me. Some drivers will not drive someone if its not the account holder but most will.
Real Rideshare Stories after watching these videos, I can certainly respect.
