Thanks for this video. I'm using it as a guide to build one for my 2024 light show 🙂. Question - I am going to purchase Mattos Sasquatch 6' Mega Tree Hoop base ring. In your video I see a middle section, at the diameter area. Did that come along with the base ring or did you purchase it separately from somewhere? If yes then what is it and from where? Thanks in advance!
Your video is very basic and easy to understand specifically for new people to this hobby like me. We need more of these kind. Many of the videos I have watched are too advanced for beginners. Thanks
This is my first pixel year after many years running a show with software that I wrote around 10 years ago. I'd love to win this kit because this is the most helpful, detailed video I've seen on building a mega tree. We will make this the centerpiece of our display and will be the first in our end of town to have pixels. Also, I loved the fake (real) megatrees in the beginning of the video. The humor kept me watching! 🎄
This is my first year to setup display. Been looking at mega trees to add for display. Really like all the information you have given on setting this up.
Best instructions on a RGB Mega Tree I have found. Very clear and concise. Everything is covered including where to buy the parts and also some detail on how to make the tree more secure using j bolts and bungee balls. Great video
@@CounterHolidayLights I will be building this pixel tree for next Christmas. My plan is to have a Light O Ramma 16 channel controller for the tree and a stand alone controller for the tree topper that would connect into the 16 channel controller. This will be my only RGB piece and I don't plan on doing any expanding. Was looking to use a Light O Ramma director to play the show. Do you know where I can get an already sequenced couple of songs for this pixel tree and tree topper? Just want to be able to use the director and loop the songs.
I live just north of you in marysville. Started putting up lights in February and ran across this vid today. Great instructional video! So far I have close to 4K lights outlining windows, eves, and garages. Planning on a mega tree or a few arches to fill out some of the “canvas” for this year. Thank you for taking the time to help others in their quest to share holiday happiness with their communities.
I'm doing one this year and I plan on having it front and center on the left side of our yard. Your video answered a lot of my questions including how to handle a slopped yard.
My first year to do lights. For this year, I am doing a mega tree and 3 arches. I just want to do something small this year and add on next year. Thank you for this video cause it helped me decide on how to do my tree. Thank you.
I am just getting started with trying to do lighting displays because I have some kids around the neighborhood that have lost the spirit of Christmas and would like to give them something interesting to look at to help to give those back in the spirit
Wooooooo Hooooooo! This tree would perfectly match my current tree. I'd place it on the opposite side of my yard, creating two pillars of lights anchoring my light show and giving more viewers the chance to enjoy the show at once.
I'm just starting out in my research on doing a light show and just got my first sets of lights ordered. Excited to jump into this hobby. Thanks for the informative video!
I just started as well. Very expensive hobby 😂 but fun. I think you have to start planning thru the year and buy as you go. Trying to buy it all at once is very expensive and a lot of manufacturers go up in prices this time of year. Have fun!!

this was a very helpful video as just starting out in this hobby and the wife is wanting a mega tree. This would be a great starting center piece as we have a lot of transitional LED's and just starting to get into the pixels for this next year.
Glad it was helpful! we made the same move 2 years ago. It is amazing how much more you can do with Pixels which I had jumped in a couple years earlier
This would be a perfect fit for my yard, looking to add a mega tree. I am adding props this year for my sons house next door, they just had another new member added to their family and I can not think of a better way.

I would like to add this to my 4 Boscoyo mini trees that I purchased from Extreme Lighting Displays here in Australia. This will fit nicely between them in my front yard and give the display some more height
Yes, it is! and for a small tree this will work fine. for a bigger tree I would go all metal. we will be showing this soon in our new bigger mega tree video which will be out before Halloween I would think.
For this tree we built a box that had 4 deferential receiver in it ( 16 ports ) and rand thee receivers off my F48 this was so we could run the tree as well as some props in the yard. you gould do the same with a F16 or any of the kulp boards. our new and bigger tree now is run off a f16 with a 16 port explanation card (32 ports)
Like lots of others this is my first year doing a pixel display. I have lots of experience in theatrical lighting and programming but none yet with xlights. Definitely would love to include this in my display!
Hey there. I have been doing lights but just with incandescents and LED strings for 10 years and now I am finally going to get into pixels!! I am sure you have given the Boscoyo stand away, but holy cow i would love to have one if you have one for this year to give away. Great video and it totally calmed me down and made me realize i can do this!
Excellent video! There's a lot of information that I'm going to use or modify when I build a "mega" tree. I'm a complete "newbie" to smart RGB pixels. My existing display is all 120v LED lights, some props, and an inflatable. I want to replace the inflatable with a "mega" tree for 2022, and the others as they wear out in the future. Are the "J" bolts on the topper purchased from your local hardware vendor? And it appears that controllers are currently not to be had anywhere. As somebody who has been in the hobby for awhile, do you have any insight as to if and when controllers (my preference is Falcon) will be available again? Or will I have to postpone the debut of my "mega" tree for 2023 (or beyond)?
the J Hooks are from the local hardware store though in our newest tree video we switched to Carabiners.. as for controllers I would check the sights daily. I hear that May is when some might be available.
@@CounterHolidayLights So you like the carabiners more? I could see how they would be faster and easier to install. I check the Falcon site everyday now, so I'll just keep it up. Thank you!
Nice video. i love love it way you explain. Thank you

Yes, it is! and for a small tree this will work fine. for a bigger tree I would go all metal. we will be showing this soon in our new bigger mega tree video which will be out before Halloween I would think.
Thanks for the info. One of the best videos. What is the controller do you use for the tree?
For this tree we built a box that had 4 deferential receiver in it ( 16 ports ) and rand thee receivers off my F48 this was so we could run the tree as well as some props in the yard. you gould do the same with a F16 or any of the kulp boards. our new and bigger tree now is run off a f16 with a 16 port explanation card (32 ports)
@@CounterHolidayLights thank you for such a detailed replay.
Great video but would like to know how you built the ring on the bottom to attach the strips. Thanks
bought this from Mattos design for this tree. our newest tree we bent EMT to make our own ring
Like lots of others this is my first year doing a pixel display. I have lots of experience in theatrical lighting and programming but none yet with xlights. Definitely would love to include this in my display!
welcome to this crazy hobby
Other home run Lorne! Great Job.
Thanks again!
Glad it calmed you down, this is a great DYI hobby
Love the tree. I’m going on my 2nd year and would love to add this to my display.
Good Luck to yo Tyler
Thank you so much, where did the base come from, I was thinking of using a fire ring, but not sure..
The base is from Mattos design
Thank you!
