  • Let's go thrifting for vessels together! I always enjoy the thrill of the hunt when it comes to purchasing a compote or urn for an arrangement, and thrift stores and antique markets are just the place to find the hidden jewel I'm after. I hope you'll enjoy doing a bit of shopping with me!

I would love for you to show us the many ways to propagate. You have a way of making the complicated seem easy. Thanks for your pleasant, non-consumerist look at reSaling. It’s so tempting to bring a box of things home at those prices but you brought home two special pieces. It felt so clean and wholesome. Your videos are reminders of a simple, uncluttered way of life.

I would so appreciate video tutorials on propagation (soft cuttings, hard, all of it!)
I think I speak for most gardeners that one must be very careful or this hobby can bust the bank. It can be demoralizing especially when watching youtubers with bottomless gardening budgets. When we try to recreate what inspired us we realize that it would mean hundreds of dollars in plant material alone. Any tricks to save money would be awesome!

Your clear compote was made by Indiana Glass and is the Diamond Point pattern produced from the 60s to the 80s under the Tiara Line. It's a compote - used for anything from candy to flowers to fruit. The custard glass compote you saw (pale yellow) is actually called that because the glass looks like custard.
And yes! do a propagation video!!!

Thank you for all this wonderful information Carrie! I would love to learn more about antiques from you! I'm glad you shared about the custard bowl. So that would normally be used for - salad? Fruit? Not custard? Thank you for the help!

@@NorthlawnFlowerFarm Happy to help! I'd have to go back and watch again to see how big that custard bowl was but if I remember correctly it would've been for fruit or salads (think cole slaw, potato, fruit) if it's smaller then more for candy and nuts. You can always message me on ig @neoldworld if you want help on vintage/antique vessels! Thank you for all of your videos - you certainly have inspired me in how I plant my beds!

What about a series based on individual flowers: seed starting, all the aspects of care (pinching, dividing, feeding, pests and diseases, etc.), how to use in arrangements. Basically everything you can think of about the growing and use of specific flowers, one video per flower. That way, viewers can just go to one video to get all the information they need for a single variety.

While Scrolling through your series of videos, i somehow missed this one from several months ago. Your garden is spectacular, the cut flowers saved from the storm. Just glorious. I have foxgloveas well..i do not have the greatest soil conditions and figured the second year, after reseeding themselves why they were so short, now I know learned from you Danielle. I was just am so elated they came back and wildlife didn't bother them.Any bloom to flourish without being harmed by deer, squirrels, rabbits or chipmunks running through or eaten..makes my heart happy. Great willpower yu have Danielle while thrifting. Soooo many pretty pieces and I do NOT have willpower in my DNA..haha. I learned what flower frog is today too. Basically it seems to be used in place of floral Styrofoam to keep the cutting in place. Genius! Great finds. Thank you for sharing.

I kind of have a problem with collecting vases and compotes, esp vintage pieces. Love Carnival glass and it's pretty colors. With my foxglove, I let stalks just die, dry and then shake, to get new seedlings for the next year. In fact, I have a TON, I'll need to move around this spring. Great video, really enjoyed this one

I went back and watched the video twice so I could screenshot the Foxglove in the vases for my daughter to see. She grew Foxgloves for the first time, and after a 3 day rain storm they were all flopping in her front yard garden. She was too quick to get rid of them, imo !!
She also had the same experience of the Foxy Foxgloves blooming short stems their 1st year, and then the 2nd year they were tall, and gorgeous!! Gotta love the Foxglove for being such easy plants! Even if they are only good for 2 years. At least they will give tons of seeds to make for their beautiful show every year!!
Interesting that you and she had the very same experience as y'all are in very different climates. She's in zone 7b, Texas. She gets much less rain than you do. And her soils are quite dry with heavy, unamended clay.
Yet you both had the exact same show with the Foxgloves!
For me, this is just an added bonus for this easy plant. It is one of my very favorites! I wish it kept blooming all thru the year!
    Thanks for sharing ❤
