Few thoughts after playing new Sparrow and new CRHG on a tournament and casually. Sparrow got obviously better, you can definitely try him out but his abilities are still a bit awkward when interacting with terrain (what to place, weirwood trees or corpse piles?). With Sparrow your game will be smooth until your CRHG/WS unit will fail one important 5+/4+ panic check and your entire game plan will fall apart. It happened to me a lot of times, so i'm still not sold on Sparrow. My example list was: Combat Units • Casterly Rock Honor Guard ( 7 ) The High Sparrow - His High Holiness ( 0 ) • Lannister Crossbowmen ( 6 ) Bronn - The Sellsword ( 1 ) • Stone Crows ( 5 ) Tyrion Lannister - The Giant of Lannister ( 1 ) • The Warrior's Sons ( 7 ) Barristan Selmy - Kingsguard ( 2 ) Non Combat Units • Petyr Baelish ( 4 ) • Lord Varys ( 4 ) • Pycelle ( 4 ) CRHG now is just a no-brain bunker for your commander. They make even Jaime look like a real threat. And they weren't even bad last patch, even if you don't expend any tokens for them you still got a very beefy unit of 3+/5+, good attack profile, vicious base, played them a lot. And now they just outperform Warrior Sons in every situation, hell they might be even better that knights (also totally agree about what was said about Brigands, they look very solid this patch) P.S. Overall this patch wasn't anything substantional for the faction, Tywin bomb are still there, Tyrion attachment are still there, attachments in general did not get any look (which CMON promised), so Lannister playstyle won't be changing much. Apart for CRHG being precent in every list at least once, lol
Thanks for the excellent list I will try it. Mine was like this, it worked well. That CR Honor Guard with Gregor is harder to shut down than a knight and it sometimes auto charges on 6. The Warrior Sons now can block 6 hits sometimes. Faction: Lannister Commander: The High Sparrow - His High Holiness Points: 40 / 40 Activations: 7 Combat Units • The Warrior's Sons ( 7 ) The High Sparrow - His High Holiness ( 0 ) • Casterly Rock Honor Guard ( 7 ) Gregor Clegane - Lord Tywin's Mad Dog ( 2 ) • Lannister Crossbowmen ( 6 ) Bronn - The Sellsword ( 1 ) • Stone Crows ( 5 ) Tyrion Lannister - The Giant of Lannister ( 1 ) Non Combat Units • Roose Bolton ( 4 ) • Shae ( 4 ) • Pycelle ( 4 )
I swear the honour guards are extremely OP right now since they can freely stack the bonuses without having to expend the debuff tokens, not to mention the "healthy" basic stats and tons of strong attachments to choose from the selecting pool. Just lost a match against them, they solo carried the game so hard.
In terms of everything, I feel now that the Lance changes have actually made the Flayed men an option once more since you use Lance cav for the initial boxing effect as well as the sundering while with Flayed Men you trade sundering and that initial burst for critical blow, vicious and intimidating presence which I feel plays well into the lannister panic strategy. Honor guard is finally what I have been saying it should have been which was just a check if they have X condition except so much better, I think this does make them that much more of an omnipresent threat since I will get one already +whatever other I want from conditions. So now the opponent has to pay attention to me slowly grinding into their unit or retreat to avoid me constantly getting into their unit or they have to take off conditions as fast as possible.
What do you think about High Sparrow in Pyromancers? I think he has the best commander cards for them and Intimidating Presence compliments Horrific Visage nicely. For Example Pyromancers - High Sparrow CR Honor Guard - Champion of the Faith (or Sandor Clegane / Threaten) Crossbows - Tyrion Bolton Cutthroats NCU: Kevan Lannister Varys Shae
What we know for sure is Iron Victory Crew (Greyjoy), Skyreach Bowmen (Martells) and Brotherhood without Banners (probably a subfaction like Boltons). But there will be more for sure.
Finaly the goodguys faction
Phtui ;)
Always nice to know oneself on the correct side of history ;)
I was waiting for this review from two of the best 🥰🦁

@@andraslibal very interesting list!!! I feel we could have showed both!!

Note: I stopped playing Tywin NCU in casual games and have found Kevan to be effective and more friendly.

For Example
Pyromancers
- High Sparrow
CR Honor Guard
- Champion of the Faith (or Sandor Clegane / Threaten)
Crossbows
- Tyrion
Bolton Cutthroats
NCU:
Kevan Lannister
Varys
Shae
what releases are to be expected for ASOIAF in late 2024 and 2025?
