    Just started playing in December and dove headfirst into my local league. 😅 After the first two matches I switched from Baratheons to Lannisters, and won my most recent third match as a result!
    The Lions of Casterly Rock have always been my favorite noble house, and they're *so fun* to play! I know it's not optimized, but I've been having so much fun running Guardsmen with an attached Assault Veteran. Recently had a chance to rear charge some Tully Cavaliers with this unit while they were engaged with Flayed Men. That double Intimidating Presence with the rear bonus would've felt so good, but I'm still risk very risk adverse in this game. 😆 Still finished off those Cavaliers with a flank attack from Guardsmen with an online A Lannister Pays His Debts card.

    Greetings from Cologne 🇩🇪 I play Lannisters since the game was released official in retail and played them ever since. IMO they are in their strongest era but difficult to play for newbies, because of the lack of certain punch-units, which IMO they don’t need. Due to their control playstyle, they are able to cripple enemy armies especially high DPS units/lists. If you want to be successful with Lannis, you have to play the control-game and maxing out your list into this kind of control/debuff theme.
    What I love about Lannisters is the internal balance: there no autopicks anymore. Pycelle auto include is gone. Granted you will see him in a lot of competitive lists, but he won’t be in every army now. Same case for Kevan which I personally find very good.
    Overall I love Lannisters and think they are in a perfect spot.
    Kind regards.

      I think a lot of players who start with Lannisters struggle, because our combat units are pound for pound „weaker“ than other units in combat-heavy factions like Starks. BUT what I learned in the last 3+ years is the fact, that you have to lean into the control aspect of the faction and weaken your enemy, so that your units will not struggle against combat focused armies.
      Joffrey is 1 of my favorite commanders in the Lannister Roster. This is a list, which I currently play for Fire&Blood, F4Crows and Clash:
      Kingsguard + Joffrey (C)
      Brigands
      Brigands
      Lannister Knights
      Tywin NCU
      Roose NCU
      Qyburn NCU
      This list combines control, debuff and high mobility with the potential to Alfastrike early in the game.

    I’m new to the game and picking up Lannisters, I’d love to hear your views on the red cloaks because I’m keen to build a list around a couple of units of them.

    Here is what lannister needs. As they are a faction with tons of panic based cards and units, but Zero in house panic leaders. Imagine one of the Clansmen as a panic lannister commander. We NEED IT. Also just the clansmen in general as units as well.

    So I put a Bronn into the crossbows and take Tywin as a commander I can still have a minigun crossbow shooting potentially four times in a round (once from money bags from Bronn, once from swords, once from Tywin issuing commands and once on its own) ... you just gave me the idea to couple this with Qyburn to protect bags and swords (I am not worried about crown as I have Joffrey). It might be more useful than a Pycelle among my 3 NCUs.
    Yes, I agree with the Knights supported by crossbows and halberds and then one more unit, right now I was running Mountain's Men because they are great against cavalry and sometimes the Knights can be the anvil and the Mountain Men the hammer. They are a bit of a glass cannon though so not good for vanguard, but the Halberds can hold a spot. I used to like Red Cloaks but once Joffrey is shut down they become useless. I should try the Pyromancers with the Mountain that you suggested.

    Regarding the city watch I think their main issue is less vs other lannister units but rather compared to golden comp swordsmen...for an extra point the GCS boast 3+ to hit vs LCW 4+ and they have built in re-rolls...domineering pride doesn't quite make up for that...

    I don't understand the concept of Pycelle being good for activations when tactics board is full. The FAQ says: "“If the Tactics Board is full then NCUs may not longer be Activated that Round, or until an Ability or effect would create an open slot on the Tactics board.”
    Am I missing something or Pycelle is not able to use a token without taking a tactics board anyway? And then the question comes why would you take him over Shae?

    • @HitsAndCrits
      @HitsAndCrits  10 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Randall did not mean to active him last when the tactics board is full, he means that now you can activate and pass with him and still get the benefit off of his ability.

    Hier ein Kommi für den Algi: The change to Kevans predictable manouvers is as you said not that bad. As a Stark player and for sure for many others as well the Swords are desired and you can get that extra attack for yourself with Kevan also. Worst thing with the nerf is that my buddy has Lannisters and Boltons and is now unwilling to play either :D Seems to me that they are still annoying to play against but not fun for the one playing them.

      @@markusecker8203 maybe you guys play it at a very high level where every little change affects you a lot, my level is not that high yet for me the fact that I learned all the cards in the Lannister deck and I know what to expect is a big step forward, also learning when to do the big panic tests that hurt and heal a lot (I had one that killed 7 and restored 4 for me, it is practically a game changer) or how to shut down units, NCUs and cards ... and which ones to shut down ... these were all bigger improvements for me than having a minor nerf on say Pycelle. Also having good attachments and combos and a better plan for the battle.

    In this patch lannisters have a big problem - zero variety in lists. You have your crossbows, knigths of casterly rock and tywin. Halberds and stuff for the rest. Most of your units are generic combat units (Mountain men, City Watch, Warrior Sons, even Honor guard) to make which work you need to invest in the attachments, and after attachments you look at them and think "i could have just take knights for the same points and knights would be better". And that happens to all list variety, you don't need anything when you have Rains of Castamere + knights flank charge, it will delete almost any unit in the game early and then you will play with points advantage.
    Red cloaks are the alternative (kinda), but panic are very unreliable and opponent based, there are a LOT of great units on the tables with 5+ morale and possible iron resolve, which hurts. (still love RC, they are definitely playable). Lannisters need at least one faction panic related commander as we have only Roose now.
    Overall as you can see on asoiaf-stats, faction winrate dropped drastically to almost Bolton level, our boys in red are still very playable but we got some painful (but well deserved, Kevan xbows were stupid) nerfs while not receiving any substantial buffs.
    P.S. Please buff Jaime CMON, i beg you. We have 4 versions of Jaime and none of them are any good, it hurts when i'm the only person to bring him on the big tournaments

    Regarding Qyburn: My Baratheon army's been bringing Cortnay Penrose as an NCU in about every list where he isn't the commander. Cortnay works the same as new Qyburn mechanically, giving D3+2 points of healing across the army before the zone's effect instead of tokens after the effect. In my experience, this effect isn't particularly reliable as far as protecting zones go - if your opponent really wants a zone, they'll take it and deal with the consequences more often than not, especially with a zone as valuable as the Bags. I got more value out of spending a token on a half-closed board to make my opponent chose between claiming a zone at all and passing - with 6 NCUs total in play, this could give you a chance to get all 3 of yours on the board every turn, for example.

    I don’t see how predictable maneuvers isn’t a pitch-able card only now. Start of first enemy turn in a round? So I say you can’t use an ncu to take swords… so you take it with a different ncu. Maybe I am missing something?

    • @claw_and_fang
      @claw_and_fang 10 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      Yes, you can do it. Now it will work mainly in situations, when you go first, opponent finishes the round and slinghots cavalry squad into your flank to start next turn, charging you and wiping your unit before you can react. Or if he really wants to go with this particular NCU (example Olenna Tyrell to turn off Rains of Castamere)

      The observation at the end about offensive power is important. Control and deck are good, but when it's more conditional than anyone else supporting weak units, we have problems.

      @claw_and_fang 10 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@ruthnik Yep, same here. Enemy lance cav or stark berserks charge into you, wipe you 2 ranks, how supremacy is going to help? It will help only against enemy mediocre archers, so youre opponent won't shoot you. Kevan is going to be great in a thick unit like Honor Guard. There opponent will fear to charge them with anything but their toughest units (and then you pop Wealth of the Rock, he kills nothing and loses half of the unit from supremacy)
