Thank you so much, our Sworn Brother! I am the sword in the darkness. I am the watcher on the walls. I am the fire that burns against the cold, the light that brings the dawn, the horn that wakes the sleepers, the shield that guards the realms of men. I pledge my life and honor to the Night's Watch, for this night and all the nights to come. 🖤
Got to say, as a main Night's Watch player since Night's Watch came out, i really appreciated that you guys actually put some thoughts into the video. It would've been easy to do a 3 minutes review of the changes and call it a day (like i've seen elsewhere unfortunately) I don't really feel like i have much chances at winning tournaments anymore, but i'm sure going to continue giving my best shot with what I got. It's just a shame that they basically gave us the equivalent of a sugar cube to help us heal from our missing limb of the season 4 bazooka shot. It would be nice if they also improved our deck to work better with our MANY ways to shoot. We have 50% of our listbuilding options that can shoot, but nothing that interracts well with that style in the core deck, and it's almost actively discouraged given the "melee only" triggers of some cards... A recommendation if you like the veterans playstyle, try to bring some means to throw out weakened tokens (Shae, mallister ncu, Sandor). Jeor preventing charge rerolls is effective, but a lot of gactions can bypass it with orders, tactic cards or double engages. The combination of disrupt, coldhand and counterstrike can really be hammered in by the "negative" rolls that the weakened tokens bring.
Yeah I was thinking of shae instead of varys for this particular list, but Varys is Varys and just always strong. But you are right, the weakened is missing a little in this one.
Thank you so much for your feedback! This is soo appreciated, can´t tell you how much! We have a great game ahead of us and we will try to iron out the flaws it has as good as possible, practice and train with it! So great to have your support on this one! FOR THE WATCH!!!
You specifically asked us to write about our experience with the list you showed at 29:04 ... took it to a tournament today it was summarily destroyed. I do understand what it wants to achieve but it has some serious drawbacks, namely it has only one unit that can hold its own, the commander. That is far too little to defend the heal unit it will be targeted it will be found either a cavalry or a long range unit or just panic tests ... the front cannot be held with the Ranger Vanguard they have no staying power against a true offensive unit like a Khal Drogo with Bloodriders and Dany influence or anything that hits twice in a round ... Conscripts can heal it up once a round. Those 6 points on the conscripts create a huge liability on the battlefield that needs to be protected so turtling down is needed but there is nobody to hold the flanks neither the Rangers not Coldhands can do this ... there is no main damage dealer in this list there is no tank infantry just a debuff commander unit that they will not attack but otherwise not that scary ... definitely does not work in any 5 objective games, does not work in Fire and Blood nor in Here we Stand. Maybe it could work in the Feast for Crows ... maybe. Here is a list that worked for me much better in both Honed and Ready and in Here we Stand: Faction: Nights Watch Commander: Alliser Thorne - Master-at-Arms Points: 40 / 40 Activations: 7 Combat Units • Veterans of the Watch ( 7 ) Alliser Thorne - Master-at-Arms ( 0 ) • Builder Crossbowmen ( 7 ) Satin - Commander's Steward ( 1 ) Bronn - The Sellsword ( 1 ) • House Bolton Blackguards ( 6 ) Grenn - Aurochs ( 1 ) • Coldhands - Mysterious Ally ( 5 ) Non Combat Units • Aemon ( 4 ) • Lord Varys ( 4 ) • Ser Denys Mallister ( 4 ) This list has 3 token generation mechanisms both Allister and the Taunt from Grenn, and the extra (usually Vulnerable) token it has the same debuffed attacks on the Veterans but it has Pathetic Attempt and the hits back and the -1 to hit I killed a CR Honor Guard that charged in. In addition it has the Blackguards that can defend a position well shield a crossbow flank and it has the crossbows a long range damage unit with Bronn to shoot twice and with Satin so that the 2 Allister cards would work setting a trap of potentially 3 attacks while seeing their flaws. I tried the shooting from the walls with Othell ... I would rather take the vulnerable token from Ser Denys Mallister. My 2 cents playing NW only a few times so far.
Hey thanks for your feedback! Yeah, maybe it wasn`t clear enough communicated in the video, but the list we showed is not a good competitive list to play in a tournament. We specificaly wanted to show a list, that has some synergy with the little changes to the tactics cards in the last patch, hence we choose jeor, and we tend to incorporate some units that don`t see a lot of play normaly, hence the conscripts. In the Season Faction Reviews we show non-meta lists, that are not at the high competitive end, but try to incorporate changes from the last patch, which normaly are more for casual play. I agree that the conscripts can be a huge liability in certain matchups, and we talked about it as well in the video and as an alternative proposed to use Trackers instead and then change the Vanguard into Shadow Tower Spearmen with alliser. We explained the correct use of othell with the synergies in the List as well, you use him mainly too shoot into mellee and trigger your stuff. I disagree with you tho, that a Vanguard with a Glory Seeker can not hold their own. They definitley can in a 1vs1 situation and if played correctly, they should be able to take the charge away from enemy cav and you should be able to choose your fights with them - I agree it is harder if they as well have to protect conscripts, but we talked about that as well in the video. Looking at your proposed List, I think it can work, but there is definitely room to improve on it, if you want to min/max it for competitive/tournament play. I agree, that Alliser is one of the better commanders in competitive play for the NW at the moment! If you like to get deeper into the topic of NW Listbuilding and competitive play, I invite you to join our "Nightswatch Office Hour", which will be held live on our discord server Next sunday, 15th of December 2024, at 20:00 Middle European Time. There you can interact and post questions in the chat. We will record it and upload it on TH-cam as well, so if you can`t attend, you can watch it here afterwards! Cheers, and thx again for the feedback and sharing your experience, I am sorry it was a bad one and you took the conscripts to the tournament, as I said, we maybe should have emphasized it is a casual and not a competitive list.
Taking my new Nights Watch Army to a tournament I organized on Saturday ... probably will lose as tournament organizers do, but I am listening carefully so maybe I could pick up some useful tactics. I let beginner players take my better armies like my main (Lannister) or Stark, FF or Neutrals.
Is there any way we can get your playmats destributed in the UK? I have wanted one for ages, but the shipping to the UK is almost as much as the Playmatt itself

I'm ready to start playing ASOIAF and have a demonstration game arranged and I have seen a video talking about which faction is best for new players and it says Baratheons and Night Watch are good for new players, I'm wondering if this would be true with the new season update or if there is another faction you would recommend for new players (or do you have a video on this?)
@@matthewmutton Baratheons yes! I’m not sure about NW to be honest. I think, in care you have no affinity to a specific faction, Baratheons and the new Lannisters are the most easy to kick things off. But NW is fine too. I’d go for whatever feels right now - Lore-Wise, Sculpts, your PlayStyle!
They probably will it would be nice to see the oaths come back - remove the possibility of an attached card to be taken off with a failed panic test. Ok make the cards weaker but still, lore wise it would be better and it would add something unique back to the faction.
