I am so sorry to hear about your struggle! Most of the time, the clot in a tube filled with anticoagulant is due to a lack of inversion immediately after venipuncture. Inverting the tubes mixes the anticoagulant throughout the specimen/blood and allows it do its job. In this case, EDTA binds to calcium to stop the clotting process.
