Non medical personnel, curious about how these blood collection tubes work. How are these tube being punctured to draw in blood but required no cap or seal to seal shut? is it possible to get blood on the inside of blood collection tube holder?

The butterfly or needle used to draw blood has another needle on the opposing side that is covered by a rubber sheath, when the vaccutainer (blood tube) is attached the rubber sheath is pushed up like a sleeve on an arm and the needle is inserted into to tube allowing blood to fill the tube. When the tube is pulled off, the rubber sheath goes back into it's original position so that the patient's blood is not leaking out in between tube changes. Hope this helps!
