The whole point of using a pst or sst tube is avoiding the time and usage of pipetting. Just pop the top and pour the serum or plasma in the pour off tube after spinning.
Yes. Plasma separator or serum separator tubes can also be used to easily obtain plasma or serum. However, there are some tests in the clinical lab that may be affected by using these types of tubes. In these cases, it would be best to use a regular red top tube.
In the clinical lab, serum is used for testing various analytes like blood sugar, lipids, etc. It can also be used of the serologic detection of various diseases.
It would depend on the manufacturer/type of test you’re using. Some cartridges allow for the use of whole blood or serum. In these cases, the test results will be the same with both samples.
the sugars on the blood stick together like a key in a lock if they are the same blood type which forms the gel. or in this case the sugars are extracted from the blood and made into a reagent of type ABO or Rh if they're a different type they will stick less. I'm not sure if the same persons blood will stick to itself
It’s serum because the blood was allowed to fully clot before centrifugation. Also, plasma can only be obtained in tubes with anticoagulants like EDTA (purple-top tubes).
Superb video. Clearly explained thank u so much Sir
great video, couldnt find anything like it
Amazing! Lot's of love 🎉
Beautiful video here. Thank you very much for the detailed explanation
So that’s how they check your blood out? Amazing.
do you need to worry about the break for the centrifuge?

How many days the serum can be stored at 4-5 Celsius degree ? Coud the serum be stored at minus 20 Celsius degree for long period ?
Serum can be stored in -20 degrees up for 3-4 weeks. For longer periods serum should be stored in -80 degrees.
what if you are stuck on an island or far from a hospital and dont have any serum?
Was the centrifuge blinking at 43oo for a reason?
That's the RPM of the centrifuge we are using. But it's equivalent to 2000g for our centrifuge.
could you get that blood back into your body ?
Cn I use the incubator @37°c for 10 mints for time consuming,,
What will the serem be used for?
I'm not a medical student but from what I've learnt in school, it's used in the preparation of vaccines.
@Amairha Styles sound like urine got into the muscle by injection, shouldn't be digestive enzymes intramuscular or helping proteins get injested
@@guytelfer1353 I don’t know enough about this topic, I’m sorry
@@amairhapokala enough for a video lecture explaining what the serem is used for

This is more sense I'm a bit confused about the clarity of the serum .3rd week of taking class of phlebotomy
Question, if you accidentally whole blood into the cartridge, what reading will it get?
It would depend on the manufacturer/type of test you’re using. Some cartridges allow for the use of whole blood or serum. In these cases, the test results will be the same with both samples.
What is the reason for the formation of gel like substnces?

Is serum similar to plasma?
No ...plasma contains clotting factors but serum doesn't
Good job
What is the biological range
Thanks
Thanks sir
thank u so much sir
I think the guy is transferring plasma not serum
