- Built-in 1989 this abandoned post-apocalyptic 14 screen multiplex was eerily reminiscent of a George A. Romero film. From its rubbish-filled sunbleached facade to the blockbuster video-style carpets the building was a true relic of its time and within its completely pitch black and soundproofed walls, no one could hear us scream!

Found this great explore after watching your Eastford Square explore. I used to be a taxi driver many years ago and dropped and picked up a lot of people from here and also the Belle Vue dogs. Amazing how things change ! I only where went there once to watch a movie but it brought back memories and it looked very very creepy and eerie. And with you smelling smoke/burning that probably made your mind go into overdrive even more! You have a great interaction with your viewers literally feels like I'm in the place with you! Take care bro and look forward to more content. 👊

I was a manager there '93/94. The west wing booth as we called it (the projection booth that's to the right as you get to the top of the stairs) was haunted for sure. I always heard footsteps, despite being on my own up there and others said they saw figures. I would have loved to accompany you on this, I could have filled in some blanks and a nice walk down memory lane
You know your old when you've been around long enough to see the thing that replace Belle Vue has itself been replaced ....Jeeez

Courted in here in 1989, took my niece here for her first movie circa 1994, took loads of girlfriends through the 90s and 2000s, and spent most of 1999 in here at least more than once a week when I lost my job. Last went in, I think, 2017. Took my toddler to see the Peppa Pig Movie. A lot of history in that building, now gone to landfill.

Just got round to watching it classic editing brother loved it.
Another top production clarky, was my local cinema back in the day mate, have some really happy memories there, saw a few films: Jacky brown, uncle buck, Blair witch project and many more, really sad to see it go, and was weird seeing the inside, as you were seeing it. the last time I remember it, it was a busy bustling place, where I’d try to jib into over 18’s when I was just a nipper.

My (then-)girlfriend started her degree at Manchester Uni in Sep 87, and I used to drive over from Mexborough most weeks to see her.... being a massive cinema buff I was excited to see this going up, and we went to see a film the first week it opened... my kid has lived at the end of Deansgate since 2017, and I still go over every couple of months... broke my heart to see this gone... I went to Salford Tech, Adelphi Building, 90-92, and saw, oof, two films a week here at least. Cheers for another classic; documenting Manchester's disappearing history (good and bad). The Coronation Street one was a classic for me as I used to work on the Studio Tours occasionally.
Quality thanks for your history m8 but the question I have in return is what was the first film you actually watched there?
I worked for Showcase back in the 90's as an usher and the trained up with them to be a projectionist. I worked for them in Leeds but I did do one shift in Manchester to cover when they had no projectionist. Showcase refurbished many of their sites often adding extra screens and upgrading seating. From this explore it shows Manchester never got the refurbishment many of the other cinemas enjoyed even down to having those same green seats I remember all Showcases had in the 90's.

Right where I grew up. Been there countless times over the years. Used to be pizza hut next door and the 24 hour off license across the road. Good memories.

I remember this being built I even remember belle vue as a kid and my parents still live in gorton near the park so many memories sorry it’s being knocked down nothing left in gorton now only belle vue speedway gorton as gone to pot!!!

Epic video bro im glad, u took my advice lol and went down to that place, it just seemed to go on and on when we were there, it was massive, and a good explore tho , when we went we went in the side door and we bumped into a chap who had a crow bar and wanted to break in, he was deffo a dodgy dude.

Always loved the zombie movies. Went to see 'Dawn of the Dead' at the old Carlton Cinema in Salford back in 1980. Back then, we had to wait for the next juicy zombie movie and it was usually no more than 2 hours long. Now we have those excellent series that in total add up to hundreds of hours like 'Walking Dead', and like the Romero movies, it's not just about the zombies. It's about how individual characters deal with the scenario in which they find themselves. That's why I love the old open world games that tell a story like Stalker series, Fallout series and Dying Light and such. Great, atmospheric fun for a rainy night with a beer.
S.T.A.L.K.E.R is incredible m8 I love it and cannot wait for number 2. As for the walking dead I kinda lost interest after the Megan stuff whereas I’ve never lost interest on a Dawn play through in fact it’s one of the only films I must have seen over a hundred times man.
Try the standalone user made mod 'Stalker Anomaly' if you haven't already. By far the best iteration of Stalker and it's free to download. And it's massive with all the missing areas put back in. Looking forward to the next vid m8 although I'm still working my way through your older ones.

Had my first outing there back in 89/90,watched a film called Delinquents with some Cousin's from Eccles when the gaff was the place to be,also seen Trainspotting and Scream here in the mid 90s,Top vid brought back some memories,Cheers fella👍

Well done. Gutted I couldn't get in there for its final days. Spent the whole of the 90's there in its heyday first on the arcades then some classic films such as Lethal Weapon III, Rocky V, Terminator 2: Judgement Day and a whole bunch of others. Early 1990's, on a Friday evening the place was absolutely rammed.

The inside looks just like the old cinema at Pilsworth, Bury, just off Park 66, before they demolished it.
Brilliant video Clarke .really eerie in there .have you seen the 1970s sci fi film the omega man .a scene where charlton Heston is watching a movie in a disused cinema .the world has been destroyed by germ warfare causing people to become zombies and only able to exist in dark buildings ..you have a real talent mate in making these videos .can tell you put so much work into every movie .brilliant mate and thankyou for keeping 1000s entertained .I’m sure television producers would be impressed too mate .🇬🇧👍👍
Really appppreciate that Big Alf m8 and I know the Omega man film inside and out brother it's one of my favourites, in fact' I introduced my son to that and Vincent Price's last man on earth to the other week lol! Im an avid film fan brother, well when the film was original at least - John Carpenter - George A.romero - Billy Frridekin etc etc I even favourite classics such as Nosferatu and lon chaney's Phantom and one day plan to my own cult classic British Horror. Horror based on your own fear though not jump scares or cgi!

Me and my brother were cleaners and sister was our supervisor, seen some sights in the morning we did, from sick, underwear, condoms and jewellery etc etc.

Never been to the cinema but I remember they used to let you use their car park if you were visiting the stock car racing at the Belle Vue stadium opposite. Brilliant video, interesting how plain and functional the inner workings of the place were, that big long corridor upstairs that would have housed all the projectors left and right. Like a battery farm cinema! In contrast to the old converted theatres, so full of character. Ashamed to say those 13 year old girls have bigger balls than me, wandering into that place. 🤣
