  • Healey Nab - Chorley's bike park
    Never heard of Healey Nab on the outskirts of Chorley in Lancashire? Neither had I until a year ago, but I was curious to see what it was like and knew just the person to show me; Dizzy, who has visited a number of times over the years.
    Healey Nab, like many other places, started out as unofficial trails in the woods, the local dog walkers didn't like bicycles so complained, the council got involved and now it is an official riding spot. Unfortunately, it got clear felled earlier this year so the guys who do the trail building have put in a lot of effort to rebuild the trails.
    So would I be impressed? It's not really my kind of place to visit or ride at but I was keen to go and see what it was like.
    Thanks to Christian, Toby Dog MTB, for the third person footage: / @electricmountainbiker

    Haha, turned out a good little edit. That run you found was good, and Dizzy having a couple of moments both on and off the bike as well made for a good afternoon 👍🏼
    Nice stunt jump by you as well, even Charli was impressed 🤙🏼
    Glad Dizzy was not hurt as well 👍🏼 hat pin 🤣

      Thanks mate, quite happy with how it’s turned out, given that I wasn’t totally enamoured with the place. Thanks too for the footage; just realised I should add a link to your channel in the description (sorry) 👍

    Great vid mate, looks a lot different to when I did it, not much there from what I remember but there were some fun bits, glad dizzy was ok after his crash, I bet he did some big skids 😂👍🏻

      Cheers mate. I guess there were a few different options to ride down but it just wasn't for me, other than the off piste one. I'd also been up the Lakes the weekend before and Oswestry prior to that and quite obviously, it didn't come close to being as good. Poor Dizzy; he cheered up loads after his poo 😂

      Cheers mate, appreciate your kind comments loads. Definitely great to see Dizzy ride as we’ve all known him for ages but only on social media - top bloke 👍
      As for Healey, it was ok, just not somewhere I would drive a long way to go to again.

    There used to be alot more trails here before the trees were cut. So the old black run was black used to be drop offs skinnys

      Yeah, I hear that there used to be loads more there, before it got clear felled. To be honest, the amount that has been built back up is pretty impressive.

    Always disappointing when the lumber companies come and absolutely mangle a trail system. Still looked like a pretty decent day of pedalling. Sweet footage buddy

    Enjoy your vids mate, I'm of a similar age and mindset. Healey Nab is alright if you then head over to Rivi Pike / Winter Hill and include the Ice Cream and San Marino trails. If you plan it right you can get a decent 20+ mile ride.

    • @Stopadoodledoo
      @Stopadoodledoo  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks mate, appreciate it. I’ve yet to get up Rivington and Winter Hill; is there much singletrack up there (and will it be a bog at the moment)?

      @@Stopadoodledoo there's a few different runs up there, some less boggy than others. Can get an idea from strava heat maps, and usual other sources of info. Worth having a butchers if you're over Healey Nab again 👍

    The black runs are non existent at the moment unfortunately, when they did the felling at the beginning of the year they trashed it with the machinery. With covid we've not been able to have any dig days to rectify it all so it'll be next year before it's all properly sorted again. If you check out the 'I Dig Healy Nab' page on Facebook all the progress is put up on there 👍

    • @Stopadoodledoo
      @Stopadoodledoo  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      That's a real shame mate although what has been rebuilt has been done pretty well (especially if the whole place was trashed). I have loads of respect for those who get out and put in the effort to dig, for the enjoyment of countless others 👍

    Ive always found Healey to squished together i went a few times before the forestry tour down the trees and i found it was so crammed with thing after thing it destroyed the flow, then after the tear down it was so rough and disjointed it sort of ruined the fun .... i asked about who to contact about me volunteering to do some trail mantenance as i have a shit load of trail building expereince from my days posted to Germany (the Germans are huge into supporting this sort of thing compared to UK) However i hit nothing but brick walls and dead ends.
    If anyone knows who to speak to so i can do some trail maintenance and building i could 100% help develope these trails, There is so much potential here but it seems very little initiative to get it done.

    • @Stopadoodledoo
      @Stopadoodledoo  10 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Yeah, get exactly what you mean; it’s like they have tried to cram as much as possible into the area they have, result being a bit of a confusing and disjointed mess. I did have fun there but have never seen the need to return, although I do live some distance from it.
      As for who to contact re: being part of the trail building crew, I’m afraid I have no idea.

      @@Stopadoodledoo no problems buddy thus far the most helpful council and councilor was Hampshire county councilor who gave us the permis to start the build down at Tidworth .... that place has grown and grown now, Such a pitty as Healey could be amazing if given the chance, plus bring in local revenue ... sadly the bitter sour old men of Lancashire county council dont see it like that.

  • @grannyjone
    @grannyjone 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    It used to be better before it was felled about a year ago which messed up all the trails and they had to be re built , the place even then was never that good when wet though

    • @Stopadoodledoo
      @Stopadoodledoo  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      A few people on the day told me it was way better beforehand. It’s pretty impressive how quickly the trails have been rebuilt in a relatively short period of time; you can see a lot of effort has gone into them 👍
