Thanks again for doing this great work! So much information represented here.I'm going to have to watch this a few more times. Looking forward to yout future videos!
I remember Bolt sayng that he gave Blake tips on how to run the 200m better, mainly being not to go too flat on the bend, to leave something for the straight. Then Bolt sayiing after seeing that 19.26, realising that he may shouldn't be advising Blake in that way. I also catch your discussion with another commentor, about issues/ descrepancies with the conditions, track and other issues. Is interesting, as while Blake was extremely fast, amongst the fastest ever, most were shocked by that 19.26. Completley unexpected. His 100m best of 9.69 was also into a -0.1m/s headwind! (Mind you, Bolt's 200m WR was into a -0.3m/s headwind!) Reallty enjoying your videos. Keep up the awesome work!
MJ was a 400m/200m sprinter and the only one out of the four in this discussion while the other three athletes are the 100m/200m specialists, which explains their stamina differences.
This is definitely a fair observation but I chose to go with the “trunc”. However on age I went either “round”. Bolt was 22 setting the 100 record. I think it was 1 day before his birthday on the 200. So he was 22 and 364 days!!! Data … it’s such a liar!!!!
Agreed. Also Blake’s track was not standard. I’m not sure of the details. But it was a shock to me to discover that there would be such variation in tracks. And thank you so much for watching
@IiDHOPE what I have discovered is that there are discrepancies all over the place with wind and conditions and all this stuff. I think it’s still the second best by a distance. I’ll look into it more though. I have collected some nice stats. So may as well use them ! Thank you for the comment.
I honestly believe Wallace Spearmon could have been the fastest 200m runner of all time, because he let his genetics do most of the work. He reportedly ate a lot of junk food, skipped training sessions to play video games, and engaged in other mischief. He played lots with dogs and ploughed through women. He lived as if sprinting was a mere side quest.
Gatlin has a TH-cam called Ready Set Go and it’s brilliant (im a massive Gatlin fan). Spearmon is hugely charming, highly knowledgeable and offers endless wry observations on his career. I think you are directionally on to something ! Here is the link. th-cam.com/video/YHlU9fZf1Os/w-d-xo.htmlsi=sCQXdxyEv0JK9Ncl
Lol you're the first person other than myself to mention the doubling of the 100m PBs. Obviously it doesn't make sense to double their PBs, because the second 100m is run with a flying start. However it's a crazy coincidence that you can get so close to you their actual time with that estimate and this works for a lot of sprinters. Not all of course. Just the ones who have good speed endurance
Thanks again for doing this great work!

really impressive you can see how blake runs them down

He didn’t advise him .
@@headshot9611 There is an interview of Bolt sayng something to that effect. We can words other than 'advse', if that helps...
Glad you added that Walter Dix time to it, it was the 4th fastest time in history at the time
That’s interesting! I want to do a spotlight on guys like this.

Bolt did it 4 times. 19.40 in daegu is under 19.40s because the tjme js rouned upwards

Great work but just curious how is Blake closer to Bolt than Lyles to Blake 😭😭
Assuming the measurements are correct, Blake must have been slower than Lyles over the last meter.
@@benjaminpedersen9548 19.26-19.19=0.07, 19.31-19.26=0.05, the gap between Blake and Lyles should be smaller than the gap between Bolt and Blake
@@o_CwNOOB_o I know the time differences! Read my comment again.

Definitely!
You should compare the splits.

@@roughlyestimatedhis time shouldn’t count then what are your thoughts ? Blake’s time always seemed fishy, especially with Dix also running that 19.53

He’s is a tremendously intelligent and witty man too. He was on Gatlin’s great channel. Ready Set Go.
Bolt is the Goat, height really matters at some point 👉🏾
I’m collecting the data on this. You might be right!

Absolutely. I’m surprised the correlation isn’t higher !
First person? Lol you are so so late
