    I'll always remember what my original Keeley Java Boost manual says..."run the Jave Boost into a am amp that's ALREADY slightly overdriven" for best results. Treble boosters sound terrible going into the front of a clean amp.

    I have a TS mini and I've never been able to get the sound I want, UNTIL... strangely enough, I put a Donner compressor in front of it and used it to push the TS a bit into my Fender Concert. and it actually worked. It made the overdrive sound creamier and less "brittle" as you mentioned. I've also had some success playing the levels of the two pedals off one another. ... One of these days I'll get may hands on a TT. I'd love to hear it.

    If you use a blues driver into a overdrive pedal as a boost you can get the blues driver to act as a treble boost. if you have the tone nearly wide open a little gain and the volume up around 2 o'clock its a cool sound.

    I find that many people think they want “that sound” until they get it. 😂
    Because they are use to hearing it in a mix and not by itself. Sounds awesome Chris! Keep up the great work. 🙏🏻❤️

      As always great tone. I tried as described in front of a UAFX dream 65 and came up with a great direct in tone. Still the best is into a DRRI with an attenuator, was using a Weber max with the speaker motors, the thd sounds great. What IR is it?

    I have one fuzz pedal that doesn’t need to do this. Wampler velvet fuzz was designed not needing a loud ass amp. Very great pedal and one of my favorites! You can get Hendrix, Gilmore, EJ and loads more of tones out of it. I watched Wampler put a video out and I don’t understand a lot of pedal design but they basically put in a transistor or something to mimic a boosted amp already... idk like I said I know nothing about the build process. I just play it. But I highly recommend checking out the video Wampler has explaining how they did it. Either way it’s my favorite fuzz pedal because I live in an apartment and can’t play super loud.

    I tried the Fender Hammertone Fuzz. About 2 to 5 is a nice fat overdrive sound. After that it quickly gets a good nasty, spitty fuzz. Add an upper octave switch….sold! I love it! I have a few others but this one is more versatile.

  • @SamMurraySmith

    Hey Chris, great vid! I was wondering, did you mic up the amp in this video or did you take a line-out right out of the hot plate? Only because I noticed that the right adjustment knob on the hot plate is all the way to the left (towards infinity) and I’m not sure if any sound is coming out of the speaker! Thanks!

  • @wesmitchem825
    @wesmitchem825 4 หลายเดือนก่อน

    So here's a good question I know some pedals only sound good if there the first in line but what if you have multiple pedals like that then what order do you put them in? I mean can you get an impedance box to return your signal to how it would be coming directly from your guitar and why don't impedance sensitive pedals just come with one installed at the input and output it would make things so much easier for the player

    So if using an overdrive instead of a cranked amp would you run the PPTT in to the overdrive or the other way around?
    Any particular type of overdrive that works great with the Twang?

    • @PedalPawn
      @PedalPawn  4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      That’s correct, I would personally place it first before the overdrive 😊 I’m definitely biased, but this Pedal stacks perfectly with our BluesPrint (or any good TS style circuit would be ace plus many other styles of Overdrive to be fair) 🟦

    I think there is something wrong with our Texan Twang. I run it into a Deluxe Reverb with the volume at 5 or higher and I have to run the pedal almost off to keep the volume under control. Even at a quarter on the pedal it increases the volume too much and ruins the mix.

    I second a video on order of pedals. Lets say we have a treble booster, germanium fuzz, a vintage wah, one of your Gypsy Vibes, and Octavia pedal. What order do we put those in to get best sound and try and tame all that noise? Can you help and show us the kind of noise to expect? amp setting? etc...

      These are the pedals I currently have Boss Tone Bender TB-2w, a Sola Sound Tone Bender professional MKII (waited 4 years to get it. Was on the wait list. It is on its way now from England from Macaris). R2R Electric Treble booster, R2R Vintage Wah (got one of the last ones. #188. I am waiting for it to be delivered), Maui Funky-Vibe. I also have a King of Tone and one of those Marshall Blues Breakerss (the one that was reissued). What order and amp settings would you use? I want to also pick up your Octavia pedals. Please advise on order and how to reduce the noise if possible. Hahaha

      Thank you for asking about the optimal signal chain order for guitar pedals! 🎸
      While there isn't a definitive guide due to the subjective nature of sound, the best way to determine what works best for you is to experiment with different setups and split test them in the context of your own equipment.
      For my own personal preference, I prefer the order of Guitar > Octone > Gypsy Vibe > Fuzz > Texan Twang > BluesPrint > Chicken Quiff > Wah Wah > Amp.

    Can I put a tuner Infront of this or your fuzz pedals or do they both have to be the first thing my guitar signal sees?

    • @CaptainRaab
      @CaptainRaab 4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Most fuzz circuits need to go 1st in chain to sound the way most people want them to.

    • @PedalPawn
      @PedalPawn  4 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      If the Tuner is true bypass, by all means put it first in the signal chain, though if it has a buffered bypass, then we would recommend placing it after the aforementioned pedals. Thanks a lot for the question 🎸

    I need genuine help with my pedal order. Kingtone Fuzz v2, kingtone rise treble booster, vox wah, fulltone deja vibe, kingtone duellist v3, amplified nation big bloom, Hudson broadcast dual, cali 76 stacked. In no particular order of course cos I can't work out what I want! I know where my delay and reverb go 😂 there's not really a right or wrong, I've just overcomplicated everything with too many drive stages. Just wah, fuzz, vibe and drive is enough hassle alone for me. 😢

    • @StratTones
      @StratTones 4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Fuzz, Vibe, Wah then drives after. Thats it. This way fuzz interacts the way it should with guitar, vibe and vibe and do its thing, wah before drives. This allows everything to shine. Some prefer wah last after drives but it never works for me

      Oh yea, pedal pawn.. I want to try your gear, just never had chance to! I've never even seen a pedal in real life. I look forward especially to trying your vibe but I wouldn't be surprised if I liked a fuzz aswell! They sound great in demos.

    • @StratTones
      @StratTones 4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Oh, Cali 76 first. You seem to have too much going on or too many effects unless you need them all. Less is more in tone, yet if you want all the colors-go for it. Just don’t let TH-cam giant pedalboards dictate what works for you and your rig or else you will likely never be satisfied and chasing even having a decent tone to work with. Use your ears for the tones you hear in your head and that’s what will get you close to happy as one can be
