    --- Device which converts alternating current to Direct current called rectifier & process is known as rectification.
    ---A junction diode offers low resistance to flow of electrical current in one direction when it is forward bise and high resistance in opposite directions when it is reverse biased. This property helps to use the junction diode as a rectifier.
    #TYPES OF RECTIFIER #
    1. Half wave rectifier
    2. Full wave rectifier.
    # Half wave rectifier::--
    _ During positive half cycle of AC input,the diode is forward biased and conducts current.
    - During negative half cycle of AC input the diode is reverse biased and conduct no current.
    - The output consist of positive half cycle of input AC voltage. While the negative half cycle are suppressed.
    -- In half wave rectifier the rectifier conduct current only during the positive half of the input AC supply.
    -- Means output will get for half cycle so called as half wave rectifier.

    Rectifire
    2 types of rectifire
    1.Half wave rectifier
    2.Full wave rectifier
    1.Half Wave rectifier
    ह्यामध्ये 1diode वापरतात.
    हा positive half cycle ला forward biase होतो. व negative half cycle reverse biase होतो.
    Forward biase ला On swith व Reverse biase off swith चे काम करतो.
    2. Full wave rectifier चे दोन प्रकार पडतात.
    1.Center tapped full wave rectifier. 2.Bridge full wave rectifier.
    1. Centre tapped full wave rectifier. ह्यामध्ये D1 व D2 असे दोन diode असतात. Positive half cycle ला diode D1हा forward biase होऊन करंट पास करतो. व Negative half cycle ला diode D2 हा forward biase होऊन करंट पास करतो. अशाप्रकारे ह्यामध्ये positive half cycle व Nigative half cycle ला करंट पास होतो.
    2.bridge full wave rectifier.
    ह्यामध्ये 4 diode असतात. Positive half cycle ला D1 व D3 forward biase व Negative half cycle ला D2 a D4 reverse biase होतात. अशाप्रकारे positive half cycle व negative half cycle ला करंट pass होतो.

    This process is called rectification.
    Types of rectifier
    1. Half wave rectifier :- one diode required, work in forward bias and reverse bias condition. In a positive cycle diode goes through forward bais condition . Output form positive cycle. Efficiency of half wave rectifier is 40.6 percent.
    2. Full wave rectifier
    * center tap FWR
    In a center tap FWR two diode are require, D1 is in forward bias and D2 in reverse bias in positive cycle.
    D1 is in reverse bias and D2 in forward in negative cycle. Will get the output in both cycle. Efficiency of half wave FWR is 81.2 percent. Disadvantage of this rectifier is circuit is bulky . Practically center taping is very difficult.
    * bridge FWR
    In a bridge rectifier 4 diode are required , D1 and D3 are forward bias and D2 and D4 are reverse bias in positive cycle.
    D1 and D3 are reverse bias and D2 and D4 are forward bias in negative cycle. Will get the output in both cycle.
    Ciruit is bulky and complicated.
    Efficiency of bridge rectifier is 81.2 percent. More diode required costly.

    Types of Rectifier-
    1.Uncontrolled rectifier (Using Diode)
    2.Controlled rectifier (using SCR)
    $AC to DC converter and the process is known as 'Rectification'.
    1.Uncontrolled Rectifier (Diode)
    **Property of Diode:
    •Diode conduct current in one direction.
    •When Diode connected in forward biased then resistance of Diode is low and high resistance when it is reverse biased.
    *Types of Uncontrolled Rectifier
    1.Half wave Rectifier
    2.Full wave Rectifier
    a.Centre tapped full wave rectifier
    b.Full wave Bridge rectifier
    *1.Half wave Rectifier:
    •only one diode is connected in series to secondary winding of transformer.
    •In half wave rectifier the rectifier conduct current only during positive half cycle of AC input.
    •Means output in only positive half cycle.
    *Disadvantage:
    •Output less so Efficiency less(40.6%)
    •Ripple factor is more (Pulsating DC & Rippled DC)
    •TUF is less(28.7%)
    •RMS and Average Voltage and current is less
    *Advantage:
    •simple construction
    •less number of components
    •small size
    •low cost
    *2.Full Wave Rectifier
    *a.Centre tapped Rectifier:*
    •Two diodes is used
    •In full wave rectifier current flow through the load in both half cycle of the input AC supply.
    *Advantage:
    •Output higher than HWR so high efficiency
    •Low ripple factor as compared to HWR
    •RMS and Average Voltage and current is more than HWR
    •The DC output are twice of HWR
    •TUF is high (81.2%)
    *Disadvantage:
    •Difficult to centre tapping
    •Highly cost
    •Complicated circuit
    *b.Bridge full wave Rectifier:*
    •four Diode is used
    •Positve half cycle ~D1 and. D3 are forwad biased while D2 and D4 reverse biased.
    •Negative half cycle ~D2 and D4 are forward biased while D1 and D3 reverse biased.
    •In Bridge full wave rectifier current flow through the load in both half cycle of the input AC supply.
    *Advantage:
    •Output high so efficiency high
    •TUF High (81.2%)
    •Ripple factor less as compared to HWR
    •RMS and Average value is more than HWR
    *Disadvantage:
    •more Diode are utilised
    •more complicated

    - Diode Rectifier. Uncontrolled Rectifier.
    -AC convert to DC (Palseting DC)
    The process of Rectification.
    Two types of Rectifier .
    1) Half wave rectifier.
    - Where the output meets the positive half cycle is called a half wave Rectifier.
    - used in one Diode.
    - When AC positive cycle occurs, the diode works in forward bias.
    - When Ac negative cycle occurs. the Diode works in reverse bias.
    *Disadvantage
    - efficiency has low.
    - ripple factor more ( same camponant of ac are also present in DC).
    - Transformer utilisation factor has less.
    - R.M.S voltage, Avg voltage are less.
    *Advantage .
    - circuit is easy to understand .

    - Where both positive and negative cycles meet the output it is called a full wave rectifier.

    - used in two Diode.

    - Since the load resistance is tapped at the center of the secondary winding of the transformer, it is called a center tapped full wave rectifier.
