This is the absolute Best Emperor track Ever in my opinion.!! When you listen to the instrumental version of this track, you really understand the true Wonders of this track and you can also appreciate the amazing talent of Ishann as a composer 🤘🤘🤘

I would recommend checking out some of their live stuff. All of their album stuff is kind of hidden behind this veil of gimmicky lo fi black metal haze.
If you want to hear what the music really sounds like, their officially released live album "wacken 2006" lets you appreciate their musicality, and see them in action.
The 2000 official live album video "Emperial Live Ceremony" is also worth looking through.
Finally, there's a 2021 live streamed concert they did.
Between those three, there's some excellent material to see a more digestible version of this music.
Mandatory songs include With Strength I Burn (2006), I Am The Black Wizards (2006), The Loss And Curse of Reverence (2006), The Acclamation of Bonds (2021), Ye Entrancemperium (2021), Thus Spake The Nightspirit (2021), The Majesty of the Nightsky (2006).
I would also recommend album version of Towards the Pantheon, plus 2014 live at Hellfest version.
I share your complaints precisely. Early 90's black metal wanted this lo fi mixing, and it's very frustrating.
Emperor put out their most well known stuff in this lo fi format in 94, 95, and 97. They put out a couple more albums before breaking up in 2001.
But they did some mightily victorious reunion tours in 2006, 2014, and 2017-2019, and are now in the midst of their post-pandemic reunion of 2021-present. They had 5 dates in the USA in 2023, and I got to see them in person. It was life changing.
Start with "With Strength I Burn" Live at Wacken 2006 video, I think it'll blow your hair back.

This is such a good song! Black metal isn't what I listen the most to, but Emperor's got some really good songs I love! :D
And yes, this was from their first album, released back in 1994. In addition, mixing as little as possible(or avoiding it entirely) actually used to be a staple of the genre.
I think they're still active and playing live, but the last album they put out was in 2001. Definitely better mixing on that, though! ;)

I’m telling you man you won’t find many who’ll disagree when I say this is the greatest BM album ever. You should check out Majesty of the Night sky or I am the black wizards. Both are highlights of this album
