Still my favorite metal song of all time, even after 20 years of listening to Emperor the combination of lyrics and soundscape are just beyond.

Legend has it that Ihsahn's scream on "Hear my call..." in this concert was so powerful that it can be heard elsewhere in the world today.
Ihsahn the vocalist is just an epic man. He's has great stage presents, great singer, amazing composer and he's not arrogant about it. He awesome to the core.
I'd say Emperor is more like Tier 4 mosh pit: Where you just give up on moshing and stare at the band in awe.
This band is an old favorite of mine. Outstanding musicians. They were a bit less comically evil than the other 1991-era black metal bands, and aside from the original drummer murdering a man in Lillehammer and the guitarist burning down a church they stayed out of trouble.

Such a great band! They are #1 from the norwegian black metal scene, so progressive and experimental. Ihsahn's solo project is quite impressive to say the least.

Just to be clear, you may be right about level 3 moshpit because of the speed, however, this is black metal, you don't do mosh pit in black metal, some people might, but it's not common, black metal is like the classical music of metal, so you just stay there and give yourself to ecstasy, you can headbang of course

Emperor, the Iron Maiden of black metal. Their music is so sophisticated, not just in its brutal delivery...but also in their ability to keep the intensity and the underlying musicality balanced. It is insanely intense, and yet at the same time it does sound Regal. Their name perfectly describes them.
PS it seems like you guys got your mojo back in order. Kind of a weird vibe for several videos there. Good to see Travis back in the zone.
