British Army 24hr Combat Ration Pack

- In this video, I take a look at the contents of the British Army 24hr Combat ration pack. 4000 calories of main meals, drinks and snacks that fuel the British Army when out on manoeuvres.
While the rat pack itself is modern (packed in 2019) I go old school cookery with a hexi-block and cooker set and rectangular mess tins.
Some foods can only truly be appreciated in a freezing cold patrol harbour in a soaking wet forestry block at 0100hrs
...bonus points if you're hard routine.. 😂

LOL, yeah, I "acquired" a box of mixed rat packs, and the only breakfast in any of them is the veggie one. I reckon somebody did a sweep first and removed all the tastier options. 😆

Nice in depth look at the old ration pack mate . When I used one for a 24 hour stint I didnt go hungry . Think they're worth it for the bits and Bob's you get in there . Glad you found your mug 😂. Take care Andy 👌

Yeah. I didn't check the footage until after I'd been out and already found it hanging from the tree. I remember thinking at the time that nobody would believe it, so I was stunned to see that I'd actually caught the thieving bush on camera😂
I make my own. I have dietary requirements that will not allow much of what's in a pack. They use Dragon Blocks with a BCB stove. It comes with 3 Blocks. The matches were always surplus for me I had a lighter, zippo or bic.
Good job you weren't on E&E our guvenor would have crucified you for losing gear en route. "Are you lamping me boy?!!"

I'd be interested to see the making of your own packs. Do you use a vacuum sealer and do you cook the food before or after. I have had a go in the past, but have a surplus of surplus at the moment so no incentive to give it another go. It would be a good vid👍. As an ex-smoker, I don't think I ever used the matches either, always had a lighter with me 🔥...lol
It was very poor admin not having that mug squared away, but to be fair, that tree was actively trying to steal it.😂 The worst thing about losing kit, was you got beasted for losing it, then had to buy two to replace. (one for stores plus your own...happy days🙃).
Great review. Seems a lot of nut content in most menus, not a fan. Think there’s a prepper shop that sells ration items individually
