Exploring Woodgate Valley Country Park: From Watery Lane to Memory Lane.

Today, I dive deep into nature and nostalgia as I meander along the Bourne Brook on Woodgate Valley Country Park. Nestled on the outskirts of Birmingham, this park isn't just a sanctuary for wildlife; it's a place filled with memories of my childhood days spent jumping brooks and building dens among the hedgerows and fields. As we wander along the paths, I'll take you on a journey through time,...

    What about consideration for landowners rules of access???? Uffmoor Wood for instance .. your dog should be on a lead everywhere except the designated off-lead area. It is clearly stated at every entrance point that camping is absolutely not allowed.. nor is the lighting of fires.. for obvious reasons in an ancient woodland. Was permission sought to set up camp etc? If it was, it would not have been given. Why just use the site on your own terms? Why pinpoint and expose the wildlife in turn drawing the attention of poachers?? This clip may not be specifically about Uffmoor but you have made a clip in which you have confirmed you are there doing what you do, what YOU enjoy doing but which you really shouldn't be at that location. Do you not think it worth pointing out to your followers that checking out rules of access to any land you intend to use is the FIRST thing to do? And to not pinpoint particular species of wildlife ... for their safety and wellbeing?

    • @owtnabowt2723
      @owtnabowt2723 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Hi Bev. With reference to this video, it was shot over Clent in an area designated as Open Access, meaning I can use it for recreational purposes, such as videography, and I do not have to stay on designated footpaths. With relation to Uffmoor, the video where I saw the deer, was filmed over 2 years ago, and the area I am in is/was a dogs allowed off lead area. Although private, Uffmoor is also open access land (according to OS maps), so I am allowed to use it for these purpose. I have never "camped" over Uffmoor", and we have had a conversation on site about my filming activities. (probably around the time of the other video that seems to have annoyed you) Dogs on leads is a weird one, there are local byelaws that state when a dog must be on a lead, and private land, access or otherwise is down to the landowner, however the general rule is that unless otherwise stated, dogs must me on a lead March to July. On public rights of way (footpaths etc) however the law is that the dog must be under control. With reference to the Deer video, its clear that Lister was under control. When it comes to wildlife, the main reason for going out is to capture on film and experience it. Not everyone can get out, and so they rely on videos like this to get a sense of what its like. I know Uffmoor has had a problem with poachers, but pretty much every visitor that is fortunate enough to capture an encounter, immediately gets it up on social media. Having said that, I was over at the weekend and have seen the state some people have been leaving it in, (scorched ground and litter at at least 3 locations that I saw) this behaviour is totally unacceptable. I'd be happy to work with you to create a video to capture the beauty of Uffmoor, explain what it means to use the are responsibly, and highlight why its important to look after these spaces. You can mail me andy.owtnabowt@gmail.com or whatsapp me. (you have my number) Andy

    Wey Hey, my back garden now and then. Lovely to see someone paying it some attention in a good way. Unfortunately as kids we do not see the beauty of green spaces . I was one from QM watching the Bartley lot from our bridge! Glad it all ended tbh, they were stressful times. But as an adult i now hate how the kids of today are destroying Woodgate with litter, motor bikes, drug parfinalia etc. Things i do not remember from my childhood. Either we had more respect or them things just didnt exist back in the 70's and 80's! (Hard to believe) But Woodgate Valley is a wonderful place to be discovered by the young and old alike. And thanks for the memories!!

      Cheers Mark. It was horrifying cos she jumped past me so I watched her fall. Honestly thought I was looking a her last moments. I had to get in, she's only a pup and was terrified, even tho the sensible thing was not too. Hopefully there're no hidden injuries, she seems okay, just a bit doped up from the vets painkillers. I'm sure she'll be back out with me soon. Thanks for popping by to see how she is.

      @@owtnabowt2723 A pleasure. Ah, you got to do what you got to do - the horror of it got you in there. So pleased she's alright.

      Thanks RH. I'll be doing a long term use review on it once I've had it for about a year.

    Nice pack mate - I like the clamshell style packs. I have several Bergens and they have their place and a few day packs and a couple of Highlander bags.

      Ive been looking for a good clamshell pack for a while, but nothing really rang my bell until i came across this one. To be honest, it'll probably be the one I use most now as it fits pretty much everything I need for a 1&2 nighters. Still be using the Montane for day trips that might turn into overnighters, and nothing beats the Tatonka for load carrying.

    Some foods can only truly be appreciated in a freezing cold patrol harbour in a soaking wet forestry block at 0100hrs
