Great story telling , didn't notice it had been half an hour
Apart from debunking their evidence, I think representing himself in such an eloquent and articulate way must have impressed the jury. He is also clearly a charismatic character and all of those things helped him with his case. Well done!
Pretty cool dude. I think the geniuses on this channel really show what a bit of money can do.
You know what's the craziest part about all of this? How the prosecution was willing to put him behind bars just to save their own skin.
Because US prosecutors would NEVER indulge in such antics.cough "J6" cough.
Some prosecutors would sell their children to Jimmy Savile if meant them saving their face.
That's so typical of prosecutors annnywhere.
Yup they just want the win if if they know they will lose they need to justify their jobs…like was said..they have murderers, physical assaults robberies…and this case…in reality they lied, didn’t have any res evidence…and spent untold resources on a hunch basically..can’t get him on one thing we will try something else to skirt the law on limitations…over charging him…BS!

@@piovo5222 Typical state disinformation campaign! 👽
It's far better to let a guilty person go free than to jail an innocent person.
Prosecution should be hard. As the law states it must be 'beyond reasonable doubt'. It stops innocent people going to jail and makes certain the guilty are guilty and that the investigators do their damn job properly and not try stich people up for crimes they didn't commit.
couple of judges in my family. they detest police because they lie and make their (the judges) jobs much harder.

He was very lucky. The prosecution did a terrible job. I'd love to know how he drove that fast without setting off a camera. Especially the average speed stretch of motorway.

Obviously not saying you won't be caught but it's not hard to imagine they weren't working.
If you knew he'd be in prison
It's absurd how law enforcement invests substantial time and energy scrutinizing someone's phone, especially in a speeding case, when there are murderers and pedophiles roaming free. Prioritizing resources is crucial, and focusing on more serious crimes like these should be priority number one. imo
If people didn't commit petty crime the police would have more time to investigate serious crime.

Best VinWiki video in years. A great return to proper story telling. Gripping stuff.
Typical UK Police, going after what they see as easy wins, rather than solving real crimes!
It must have been an awkward debrief for the police and courts after that verdict.
Fact. Tell you the other side of the story. I've been plenty fast across the UK (when going from Ireland (southern) back home to Denmark). Never got a fine. Cause: too much paperwork.
Vin wiki has some great stories even in recent years you just have to find them... @Marlow925
The CPS decide what to prosecute not the police if it's going to the Crown Court. The police provide the 'evidence' and the Crown Prosecution Service decide if it meets criteria and then proceed to court.
That's typically how I did my tests.
Solve the easy questions first then come back for the harder ones.
Dude! In a case against speeding THE best thing is to have a judge who goes to the Ring.
This is priceless!
That judge is awesome.
I like how the CPS and courts set a precedent to help getting a law breaking copper off. And the fact that a murder got less attention than a guy being hounded by the CPS tells you everything you need to know about the UK legal system. There is no justice. You were very lucky to get a judge who isn't bent on exerting their power.
Actually, the cop set his own precedent, as the CPS wanted him in prison but he argued that they couldn't prove it was dangerous driving & he was found not guilty...
@@mikey_bb it was some wank prosecutor with ambition on a power trip.
The judiciary has nothing at all to do with the amount of publicity a case gets. That is the Media's job, and they know us so well they only bothered with the story they knew would be most eagerly read.
The precedent was set because a Copper got clever. The CPS charged him FFS, so they were hardly trying to corruptly provide a get out of jail card for police officers. They also charged him because someone did their job and checked the mans black box readings, and even then they could all have just had a laugh and told the copper to slow down a bit, instead of spending thousands and wasting time going through a court case just to cover any future problems with a precedent. To even think that is serious 9/11 style idiocy.
The guy in this video actually did what he was charged with, and got away with it because he argued his case better than those prosecuting him. That is our justice system. Short of getting God to step down and point at the guilty party, I can't think of a better system to have, than the British legal system. Can you?
@@jeffhubbard4688 how did he do it? there is no evidence?
@@JackFN_VR64 I have no idea how he did it. That is his secret super power, plus the fact that no one started looking until 8 months after he had done it, and he has never straight up denied doing it. If that was China, pr any place where the individual has significantly less wriggle room if the persecution wants your arse, he'd still be doing his 6 years, 10 years later. It's not a perfect world, be thankful we live in a place where imperfection is given at least some tolerance.
Fair play for getting him on. The UK is not the country with the most CCTV cameras .. but it's in the top 3. Speed cameras in the UK are ridiculous. And he did play it right, because the fact that the UK has a speed camera network this wide and extensive .. and they didn't even follow protocol to check it ... or dismissed it to get a case .. is part of what got him off.
It literally backfired for the prosecutor. Great story.
I think what made the case, was the original investigator giving testemony that they DID check the camera network.
That would have changed minds from "those cameras could prove him guilty if they only checked early enough" into more like "there is no case here"
When there is a trial by jury, it is not ALL about what you can prove. If they think you did it, your fighting an uphill battle evidence or not.
@@ssu7653 Even magistrates can be biased. Wow, what a story. We have it pretty good here in the United States. In many countries, you can not modify your car
Compared to the rest of Europe the UK is pretty lenient, you can pretty much do anything as long as it doesn’t impinge on safety or emission control measures. People have road legal drag cars with thousands of horsepower, and the more changes you make the fewer rules you have to obey, plus we don’t have to wait 25 years to import a car, you can buy any car from any country at any time.
@@Jabber-ig3iw You can still import in the US; it just had to meet the State's emissions and safety standards (some cars can't at all). The 25 years is when even in California, it becomes exempt from that requirement.

Finally a story to really match the "all the evidence"story 😊
Are the laws regarding these charges significantly worse in the UK than the US? Those possible sentence lengths seem crazy.
It sounds like they were trying to say his radar detectors and however he defeated the cameras were "perverting the course of justice". Seems harsh!
@@ProphetAndLoss I see. That’s ironic since there were more lies and deceit in trying to prosecute than what he may have told.
Perverting the course of justice is a wide reaching offence and doesn't just involve lying under oath in court. Contempt of court is a separate offence and would usually be the one applied for lying in court under oath.
Also, the sentences given out are usually far below what is quoted. They like to use the maximum penalty rather than the average/typical sentence
@@ProphetAndLoss It's not specific to lying in court, it applies to any action you may take to evade prosecution. So things like using illegal jammers and removing your number plates / using fake ones.
There are similar laws in the states if you do something to cover up felonies
Critical to all this was the fact that: the prosecution could not put him at the wheel of the car; they could not independently provide evidence that the alleged transgression had actually occurred on a specific date, or indeed whether it had ever happened at all; witnesses for the prosecution completely contradicted each other’s testimony with regard to the speed camera network; and no speed cameras were triggered by the car in question on the date in question; and although the GPS signal showed that the journey had been made the prosecution could not provide evidence or witness that he was in possession of his phone on that day.
Great story with a happy ending. What stopped the police man who caught him speeding from showing up, and he redacted his statement about catching him speeding? Seems like that was a massive influence on the jury
Wondered if he was going to appear on here. Great story and the press were after him over here in England for this mad lad.
