Amazing story ED & Vinwiki! If he didn't drive this car and only stored it without anyone knew where it was, it would probably never have been in the movie. Love this story 🔥
Until someone stands next to a Countach, they really can't understand how low it is. One of my best friend's in High School had one back in the late 80's, along with a 328 GTS and 930 Turbo as the most notable ones.

What a great ending for his childhood dream! He ended up getting way way way more for it due to taking up an opportunity to put it in a movie. But i think the most enjoyment would have come from actually driving it and owning it before it was ever on Wolf Of Wall Street. It seized to be enjoyable for him after the movie and became an investment instead, so congrats on the sale

The fear of driving the car sounds alot like what Jay Leno said before about some of his collection. For his McLaren F1 he loves the car, but due to it value now its becoming less and less enjoyable to drive. Mainly from people going nuts when they see it, to a dangerous level. But also the parts for it have sky rocketed in price, and alongside insurance limitiation put onto the car. I remember reading about either another McLaren f1 or might have been a rare Ferrari. But the owner was told that he could only get it insured if he exclusivly drove it a set time of the day, with perfect weather, and had to call ahead of time to get approval to drive it. Yes i understand if you can afford the car, you can afford to pay the price. But like Countach, he bought it for what 120-140K back in the early 2000s. Now its worth a million dollars due to demand. So for alot of these classic car owners that have had them for decards now, sure its worth that now, but they bought it back when it was "affordable to them". So now as an owner that loves there car, they know now they cant replace it with another one.
You made history and you preserved it imagine if the car was wrecked or stolen but it was well taken care of and someday it might be the only one left and when people see it they are going to want to know about it
I had a Lamborghini fund at age 9 in like '88 too lol. Made it to about 8 dollars hidden in a book. Had thousands of horsepower over the years in imports, semi's, motorcycles, domestic V8's, even 2 stroke tuned scooters, and the latest and funnest; AMG Mercedes, it's epic fun.
No one buys a car because they think it will become an icon. But it’s great when it happens. We love our cars and hope that when we do sell them, they are loved again.
There is a red 1987 Countach with European bumpers in Queens NY which has never been titled. The car was stored in our garage on Long Island for a while. Every time we drove it, we had Transporter plates and it was insured by Lloyds of London. Driving it, you felt a bit like flying a performance aircraft. I hear it may be worth 7 figures as it is still untitled.
Just awesome story. Getting to own your dream car and not only lock it in a garage but DAILY DRIVE IT - this guys is DA MAN. But to be honest, if that was me, when it past the $1 million mark i would've kept driving it. Cars in that category preserve their value no matter what. Some like them as fresh out of the factory as possible, but other prefer cars that have proven themselves by being driven around and still perform amazingly. Few chips and kinks might lower the value to the collectors, who keep them refrigerated, but i would never sold my dream car to be kept as a fish on ice.

I refinished the interior in white leather with ultra rare OEM panels that I luckily came across. The beauty of a replica in todays crazy market is that I can actually drive it with no worries
U can tell this guy is a true enthusiast when he knows all the same details about iterations of the versions, changes and such.
Ed, we need a set update. Like what is uo with that mask in the background? Share with us all the new mementos. And show us what the things like stickers are
Great idea
This is a great story for multiple reasons Ed!
This channel is the definition of 1st world people and their 1st world problems... and I'm here for all of it! ❤️VINwiki and all hail His Excellency Sir Ed
GREAT Story to share!
One of the if not best scenes in the movie revolved around this car. So happy to know there was a crash car
It’s going to be a lot of money!
Childhood dream car !
Totally get why he sold it.. I recently sold a collector car far less valuable (a beautiful black C2 Corvette coupe) because it was too mentally taxing worrying about every little blemish they inevitably get just sitting there in the garage, not to mention dodging lunatics in traffic.
The emotional attachment to said vehicle is the toughest thing to overcome. All the good times and the places you've seen with it. That's the main reason I keep my first vehicle till this day. I could never part with it. I've always said they would probably have to bury me with it. lol
Although mine would never reach the amount you got for yours, I understand how life throws different things at you. You've owned it for quite awhile and hopefully the next owner will understand how much of an icon the vehicle is.
Hope retirement treats you well! 👍
Amazing story ED & Vinwiki! If he didn't drive this car and only stored it without anyone knew where it was, it would probably never have been in the movie. Love this story 🔥
Humble and open. yt story of the week for me.thank you
it seems like every story I hear about curated has them as good guys and a class act, a rarity in the world of car sellers
The shot with Wolf of Wall Street projecting on the car is SOOO cool
Great story, this was a good one Ed
what an amazing video! Thanks for sharing your story. Love this car! I have been obsessed with the Countach since 1987. Dream car for sure!
Until someone stands next to a Countach, they really can't understand how low it is. One of my best friend's in High School had one back in the late 80's, along with a 328 GTS and 930 Turbo as the most notable ones.
Sheesh what high school did you go to? We had crappy cars our parents handed down... or some junk we got for a couple hundred bucks held together with duct tape😂
I think it will be 2.3m. I’m happy to see it’s going to a new owner. Seeing that car lowered is simply disgusting.
Looks like it just sold for $1.655m.
@@CheekyMenace thank you. I was curious of how much they were going to get for it.
What a story!
To hear someone talk about actually enjoying an exotic car. I hope to put 10,000 miles on my cars in a year. (:
Kudos, Joe!!! You're a real one.
It's good to have the old school feeling to vin wiki with this story and this person
WOW what a story. Thank you so much!!!!!!!!!!!!
Great video about a great car. Looks like it ended up selling for $1.655m.
I may not have the white anniversary Countach, but I was able to acquire Leo's WOWS Heuer.
Listening to this without reading the title or thumbnail was amazing.
Good lord what an amazing story! Love this, thank you so much for sharing.
Incredible story, one of my favorites. Keep it up boys!
This is one of my favorite vinwiki stories 😊
Saw this baby at Sothebys the other day 🤩
I love that you and only you know everything about your baby.. even if a stitch was worn in the leather.. I got an old custom bike and kno every inch.. I love when people say wow nice! ..but you should wash it.. lol dirt happens lol.. a friend of mine got awesome 70 chevelle trophy winning car.. and he's got one gold finish bolt amongst the bolts on his bumper.. and won't change it because he likes when someone notices.. conversation starter..😂
beautiful car, and an even better story
Awesome story and inspiring ending. 👏
Great story, one of the most famous Countach's, along with the Gumball Rally cars.
Even Gordon Murray who designed the F1 sold his due to values.
It’s a 20+ million dollar car. You need insane wealth to drive an F1 without a worry!
You made history and you preserved it imagine if the car was wrecked or stolen but it was well taken care of and someday it might be the only one left and when people see it they are going to want to know about it
Amazing story by a truly passionate car guy!
“I was making the history, not preserving it” LEGEND
No one buys a car because they think it will become an icon. But it’s great when it happens. We love our cars and hope that when we do sell them, they are loved again.
"I was making history not preserving it" best line
Awesome story man!!!
This is a real car story. So good.
That was an awesome story!
Saw it on DDE's channel recently. Love hearing about the history behind the car
Which video?
@@vladimirchervenkov6949 actually I think it was Stradmans video
If anyone deserves the Bull’s attention it’s this guy. Urus to his spec and a forever warranty for everything.
I was in Florida a few months ago and remember seeing this car at Curated. I had no idea it was the WOWS car.
So glad you saved it, can't believe they were gonna crash it
Such a beautiful car in person, seen at hunt valley cars and coffee
71 in a 70, thank God they stopped him for that 🤣🤣
Noone can stop real police work.
Sounds like Ohio. I hate driving through that state
@@sarahdell4042 I got a ticket there and the Trooper let me keep the pen he gave to sign the ticket. Mysteriously that pen didn't make it to the state line 😂
Great story about a great car, although I was homeschooled so I never saw the movie.
