    Could this afect the bike's performance?

    Looking at cobra and vance and hines to improve the sound of my 2008 suzuki c50t. This is cheaper and sounds like it may just do it for me! Liked it very much.

    any drop in MPGs? whats the science behind the holes, the more holes, the more deeper/throatier sound ? what abot removing the baffles on the inside? Thanks, great vid!

      Drilling the holes = Louder pipes = Being more noticeable to drivers who are too busy texting to notice you're near them.
      MPG and overall performance will have no real noticeable change.

    Excuse me, but I am 62 years old and have been riding Bikes since 1972. People have been drilling holes in the back of their exhaust pipes probably for 40 years or more. This is a Big Mistake. It usually doesn't give the nice deep loud sound you are looking for and it usually affects performance unless you re-jet the carb or install an electronic device to do the same on bikes that have fuel injectors. I have purchased a lot of used bikes over the years and when I ,see holes drilled in the rear of the exhaust pipes I found it best to avoid those bikes unless you want, to re-do the whole exhaust system. I think it is best to replace your exhaust with a good quality system from Hard-Krome, Vance & Hines, or some other company. But that is just my opinion. I also want ,to say that if you have a Nice bike why take chances on a cheap ,hack which might mess up your bike. Now if you are riding a cheap 40 year old bike that you only paid $200. or $300. for - then go ahead and drill away.

      I totally agree with you sir and got mine, a pre-owned one of course and last owner removed the whole thing and now I'm looking to buy a stock muffler since I prefer the engine running as it should. later on will get new high performance mufflers and the rest of the kit.

      Fair comment, sir, but modern EFI bikes are a bit different. Drilling holes in the final baffle will have little-to-no effect on back pressure, as it is downstream from several baffle plates, the o2 sensors and the catalytic converters.
      As far as the ECM is concerned, this modification is no more drastic than changes in ambient temperature, humidity and barometric pressure.

      My dad has been riding for 30+ years and I was just out looking at a Iron 883 that had this sorta set up and he immediately said "you don't want this bike" and later stated your near exact arguments.

      These bikes have two sets of baffles in each pipe. I completely removed one set in each pipe. The sound is awesome and there is no change in performance.

      @@bassrocker70 which ones did you remove at the back or front?

    i have the same year, pretty much same everything, which is why I'm asking. When doing this, since its fuel injected, is there still tuning involved to keep it running right? I'm asking because my last bike was carbed and taking the baffles out completely screwed it up

    • @FrankieBag0donuts
      @FrankieBag0donuts 4 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Performance won't change at all with drilling 4 holes.... it'll just be a bit louder.

    I wasn't keen on removing or, puncturing the baffles so, I think this is an option I can live with. Thanks.

    Today i replaced a set of Vance and hines short shots and went back to factory pipes. And btw i have a 2009 m50 and bought 2013 c50 pipes and they fit fine. I must admit i'm in shock as ive gone from lets say AC/DC to the carpenters so thanks for the video and i'll give it a go this weekend. keep you posted

    Any differences in acceleration after this mod? I'm afraid it can make it worse

    • @hardinrich2610

      Did this and have had no probs with acceleration.

    Sounds pretty much like a industrial machine of some kind. No hate, have a 2000 1400 that sounds nothing like this. Just buy right pipes.

    Great video! I'm going to do this with my 2007 c50. Though, how deep should I drill those holes? Thanks

  • @Nikden96
    @Nikden96 9 ปีที่แล้ว +4

    Ok, did it to my bike, sound is a bit louder now, doesn't affect an acceleration. Good option if you don't want to pay $600 for a custom one, but still want some extra noise on acceleration. I drilled 8 big holes in each pipe.

    • @jasonsanderson9385
      @jasonsanderson9385 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      With 8 bigger holes any issues with engine??

  • @ZteveW
    @ZteveW 3 ปีที่แล้ว

    I'm just curious, why didn't you remove the exhaust plate all together instead of drilling holes in them?

  • @jeffw1246
    @jeffw1246 4 ปีที่แล้ว

    I ordered just the mufflers to have shop put on, unfortunately universal fit wasn't all that universal. This is just the sound I want. Did you have to adjust engine in any way? Some systems require engine tune for their exhaust. Has it been running good since mod? Think I'll go this route, good vidio.

    Hey did you puncture the inside plates with the 3/4"pipe too as shown in the honest abe mod ? or just drilled what's shown in your video.
