Very interesting to hear her tell her father's story. He had such a mellow voice, always right on pitch, timing was elegant, but there was a lot of competition in that era, NAMES, that excelled. But Matt Monro's singing talent and golden voice truly grows on you when you listen to the many songs he recorded. He was a tremendous talent, and one of my favorite singers long ago and is still to this day. As a musician my whole life, I like many singers on their special hit songs, but Matt could do it all, and his personal touch on any song was memorable!
I have purchased this book and it is a wonderful read by a loving daughter. I would recommend it to anyone that loves the singing of Matt Monro and I have been collecting most of his recordings for the last 30 years, and if you need a gift for the holidays, this book would be a great choice.

i was a rock & roller,beatles,stones,chuck berry etc,then into led zeppelin,acdc etc,but Matt Monro is my favourite singer of all time,the man was class,my mom wouldnt listen to my groups with me in the 60s,but we sat for hours together listening to Matt Monro,he just had that thing you cant put your finger on,he is a singers singer,thanks mom,thanks Matt.

Frank was Frank with his great vocal style, great arrangement collaborations, movies, stage presence and the incredible quality of the material he chose to perform. But no one....I mean NO ONE.......had the voice Matt Monro had. Absolutely flawless....

Met Matt in Blackpool when he used to visit winmarith club where I was head barman and he was appearing on north pier with Morcombe and Wise. Invited with my wife to his show and spent half the show in his dressing room drinking brandy…fabulous man. Met Eric the same night when he came into matts room for a tot…..
Wasn’t the wife of the owner of the Winmarith club Ann Wragg? Knew her well when living in Blackpool in the 1990’s. She told me great stories about when Matt would visit the club and also visit them at home. Love his music even now, it never ages.

My mum looked after Mitchell Parsons when he was a baby before Matt Monroe became famous. We lived at Holloway N.7 and Terry Parsons lived in the next road.
Why was he drinking a lot and smoking a lot; his wife did not inform him of the consequences of drinking alcohol and smoking? He most probably would have listened to her and seen a doctor. It was too late when his doctor told him to stop drinking and smoking. Sad.
Amazing - she gets the most important song title WRONG in the first few words. It's Softly As I Leave You. Doesn't impress with authority and knowledge.
