What an absolute treat Michelle, I only got to know of this on google, and I am so glad I did, your dad is my favourite singer I wouldn't have wanted to miss it. You have done a fantastic job and after hearing this, there is no need to hear the other version. Your dad had a beautiful style all of his own, he could even bend a note, I WILL WAIT FOR YOU is a favourite, and there is no one on this planet or any other that can sing THE BIRTH OF THE BLUES like he does. Thank you for such an excellent programme, your father would be extremely proud of you.
As an Australian, I latched on to Matt in the late 70s/early 80s when everyone else my age was listening to AC/DC and Cold Chisel...they were all like ‘who’s Matt Monro?’ It’s wonderful to see all of this information and material coming out about Matt (with the chrystal clear and clean voice)❤️
Beautiful production Michele. As a lifelong fan with Matt (and Perry Como) as my idol(s), was a treat to view this first episode. I am still singing Matt's songs and virtues at 68 years young and can't wait for episode 2!
I remember Matt Monro from my teenage years. What a voice. Now living in Timor-Leste, I still listen to this most talented singer. His songs are finding a new generation of fans. Peace and love from Dili.
Thank you for this Michelle, your dad, Matt Monro remains, for me, the greatest Singer this country has ever produced. There are few true musical legends but Matt Monro is certainly numbered among them. For me he was the greatest of them all.
My late Father always sung Matt's songs, and even looked a bit like him. We were eating out one evening, and the waitress asked "Excuse me Sir, but are you Matt Monro?" My Father was extremely flattered by this, and sang Matt's songs at every opportunity. He was always singing "Walk Away" and "Portrait of My Love" I even played Matt singing "Softly as I leave You" at my Father's Funeral. We even flew out to LA back in 1981 and from a tv documentary, I recoginised the "Hollywood Roosevelt Hotel" where Matt and his family were enjoying a "Dip in The Pool"
My Dad went to see Matt in the 60s, NYC. The Persian room . Loved the singers of the day here in the States . Frank , Dino , Perry Como . Yes we are Italian heritage. Also had I great love for Matt as I do now . Read your book Michelle, fantastic . Thanks so much , Mario 😊
Glorious. I've loved to hear stories about Matt over the years via mutual friend Don Black, now this is just wonderful. Thanks very much Michelle, sending you all best wishes. Derren Litten.
Thank you Michelle, for this wonderful gem. My parents grew up near Matt and were huge fans of his. I can always remember my dad playing his albums in our small living room as a child. To me, Matt is on par with Frank Sinatra in regards to his talent and vocals. His voice was just beautiful and he was a true gentleman.
Thank you Michelle. First heard your dad on Radio Ceylon in India singing Born Free and then saw Southern Star in which he also sings the title song. Then From Russia With Love. The rest of his popular songs came along and I’ve always enjoyed you dad’s singing.
Michelle, I wanted the first music my little granddaughter heard to be Born Free sung by your dad. We waited 20 years for her via IVF but as she had to be born at 33 weeks by C-section it never got to be as she was whisked off into intensive care within minutes of being born. She is 6 now and a very special little person. Her mum also went into intensive care on a life support machine but made a recovery from the traumatic birth of her little girl. I love your dad's music and my own forever favourite is "Walk Away."
Absolutely brilliant Michelle, I've been a fan of your Dad since I was a child in the sixties. I kind of knew a little of his early struggles to make it but never for one moment realised how difficult it was for him. Kudos to Mickie for supporting him so much, her belief in him was astounding and so loving. I'm still staggered that it took so long for Matt's talent to be recognised, thankfully it was in the end. He was most certainly taken much much to soon and I'm sure would have continued to be a huge Star for many years had he stayed with us for longer. Looking forward to part two.. Congratulations again for a wonderful tribute.
Hello Michele, Fantastic work you are doing. About time for Matt Monro to become a TH-cam start compare to the best as Engelbert and Tom Jones. As a Spanish man 54 years old I ask you to please don't forget to make a unique episode of Matt Monro singing in Spanish. He was the only one. No one did as he did, no Engelbert, no Tom Jones etc . Also please mention who was in charge to accommodate and arrange the English to Spanish translation of his songs. That was just....... FANTASTIC. ...Regards.
FILIPINOS LOVE MATT SO MUCH. WE SING HIS SONGS AND I AM 79 YRS OLD TODAY IN CALIFORNIA.
