Nice video. A good way to check how clean or dirty the air filter is, shine a light on the inside. This will show you how dirty or clean the filter is. That's a tip from my dear old Dad.
Thanks just did my Skoda 1.4tsi , wish all videos where as clear a d concise. Also wish you still had the Tsi so you'd be doing more videos for that engine ! Cheers all the best.
In my 1.4 there's a white cloth like jacket around the cylindrical filter while almost all filters available in market today don't have this cloth jacket. Any idea if this jacket is needed?
nice video, i got MK6 2010 (1.4 TSI ) and i see similar to your car air filter and hose attached to the engine, could you please tell me where is Mass Air Flow sensor located , how to get it out and clean it. help thanks
this engine doesnt have MAF sensor, but it has 2 MAP sensors instead, you can find them on intake manifold, first on top of the plastic pipe and second one is behind throttle valvle, now how to dismount them and clean them i dont know
Nice straight forward process. I like it when air filters are positioned well in the bay. Just looking at the box, I have a 1.4 TSI 122 in a Scirocco which id image will have same the same filter setup and from this video it doesn't look like it be too restrictive for an aftermarket cone filter to fit inside rather than replace the whole thing? Would probably be a case of not putting the lid back on, but I wouldnt know if the original design needs the lid to be more effective or if it would be the same as those cone systems with a shield.
Why would you change it? The factory air intake brings in cold air from the grill. The box seals the filter leaving it open to the intake. Don't be silly.
I am trying to get to the MAF on the same model and engine layout. It's a pain since it's underneath and the hose from the air filter onwards is rather short and does not allow just to pull the metal clamp and roll back. The MAF is inside and not much space to take the hose of it. Any advice, have you ever done it on this model?
I'm not sure what you're looking at, but from a brief look at it this engine does not have a MAF sensor - but it has two TMAPs, with identical part no.s, one between the turbo and throttle body and the other on the intake manifold, both are easily accessible.
@@CraigsDIY hey man, i have the 1.4tsi 122hp in my scirocco. I changed all the filters, oil, coolant, ignition coil, and sparkplugs. The engine still stutters a bit at idle, could it be the MAP sensor? If so can you make a vid on how to clean or change it or something or give me an explanation
Great video! I just have a question - There is a small hose coming out of the air filter box, where does it go? Mine seems to be missing. I would appreciate any info!
Hi, How many filters does this car have? ( I only know the cylinder one you has showed in the video and pollen filter( aka cabin filter) . My aircon stinks. Do you know why? Thanks so much.
Your evaporator will be dirty, the smell is bacteria that grows in the condensation that forms on it. You need to try to clean it, which is tricky. To begin with you might want to try a simple spray duct cleaner product like I show here: th-cam.com/video/DIaJCg0fBnk/w-d-xo.html You can replace the cabin filter at the same time (will be doing a video on that soon).
The very last comment in this video was rude and totally unnecessary . Changing an air filter is an easy task. Oh how you will so need the help of an intelligent mechanic when something awkward goes wrong with your car. Shop around for job prices before you book at a garage, its what most people do these days.

Brilliant well done mate. Took me 5 mins to service the air filter on my Audi A4 B9 using this guide
Thx again, another 50000 miles done in the taxi! I swear by your oil change and filter changes for my Octavia 👍🚕
Дякую! Все дуже ясно!

It's my mother's car. But it's still low mileage and doesn't have much wrong with it that needs work!
Useful and well presented. Congrats on a great channel.
Have you done a gearbox oil and filter change??
I have a USA spec 2015 Jetta with the 2.0L 8v engine that uses that same filter!

Don't know. Might be for dusty climates.
Very good video, simple & with plenty information.thx

The moment when the airfilter lasts longer than the timing chain

PCV hose that goes to the valve cover.
Does anyone know any air intake systems for this type of engine? (122HP version)

Thank you very usefull
so it takes about 60'000 Km's to replace a filter?... have been replacing mine every 15'000
That's very unlikely to be necessary unless you are driving in very dirty air!
@@CraigsDIY Thank you. am saving on my next service :)
