ouuu that’s interesting! like they say, one person’s trash is another person’s treasure. hot + humid doesn’t sound too fun tho, so i understand where you’re coming from 😓
I’m hoping to get in this year and I've been binge-watching your videos 🥺 and I agree with the weather aspect, I've never seen snow and the coldest temperature I've felt is 60 degrees and it's scary to think about winter. 😰 hope quarantine is treating you well!! 🧡🧡
Awhwh, everything about this!!! :'))) Got flashbacks of dreading the cold, I was soso terrified before moving aha. And eyyy, that's exciting that you're starting the college app process! But actually that's mainly just really stressful & overwhelming aha, so make sure to take care of yourself!! Hope quarantine is also treating you well.
Hello! I am Ecuadorian and applied to Yale for fall 2021. Your videos made me have some hope, could you perhaps do one about how it is for international students?
Hey Anna!!!Hang in there girl. Yes ,I did finally manage to graduate from Yale(after a lot of blood sweat and tears!!)I agree with you..It's like I've always had this Love-Hate relationship with Yale.My first two years were the love years for the most part ! You know...being on the most beautiful college campus in the world, exploring new subjects, and meeting new friends.Yeah that was great...But like you said there was also something to hate.Well in my case,I came from a music performance High School and played the violin fairly well. I was the assistant concert-master of my Senior Orchestra,Concert-master of our Chamber orchestra, and played in the school string quartet.Remember I had been playing the violin for most of my life right? So now I'm a freshman at Yale and go for an audition for one of the Orchestras only to be told by the person who was auditioning me that" your fingers aren't where they are supposed to be for your age"...sorry and goodbye...go take some more private lessons!!!Dang....that really, really hurt!!!Then in some of my history classes, professors would call me into to their offices to tell me that"I don't think this class is really for you"...and that I don't write my history papers the way Yale Historians are supposed to write history papers!!!Go and take another course buddy!!! I thought that college was the place you were supposed to go to receive help and encouragement, especially if you were having difficulty with a subject. So I'm thinking if I need help with something then why isn't this freakin professor helping me out with what I need help with instead of just throwing me out of his class??? I've had many such experiences of rejection and discouragement during my academic life at Yale.Instead of being encouraged,I mainly felt that I was always being weeded out and criticized.I would spend nights in the library trying to finish writing term papers instead of getting normal sleep. The pressures got too intense and I decided to take a leave of absence.Maybe I needed to mature a little bit.Finally... in the end ...I did earn my sheepskin...but at great cost to my psychological well-being and sanity!! I hope you have a better time of it!!! I guess when all of your classmates are National Merit Scholarship winners and valedictorians from High School with scores of 700 on the SAT's then one should expect this kind of fierce competitive environment. Anyway...now that I look back...I say to myself...I've earned a Yale degree and that is something that nobody will ever be able to take away from me now or in the future. So hang in there!!!Then when you finally bust out of jail( I mean Yale)...then you can be a normal human being again!! But you will have attended a college that very few will ever, ever get a chance to attend!!!!
ey david! ahhhh i got chills reading this, twas truly a roller coaster 😭 i was like dAANG YASSS when you said about your music background in high school but then you turned around & said what yale orchestra told you about your finger placement (and then said about your history teacher) and that kinda broke me. guess i’m in the love years right now & i can only hope the rest of my time at yale stays in that good zone 😭 tysm for the encouragement, i really appreciate you sharing your story 😭🙏 & i really appreciated the jail pun 💀🤣
@@AnnaReynoso Hey Anna!!And thanx for responding to my post!! Yeah...honestly...I never, ever felt any form of encouragement in any of my academic subjects, except by professors in my major which turned out to be Political Economy( a little bit political science and a little bit economics!!) If ever I was weak in a subject(which in my case were many....especially calculus,Chemistry, physics,British Constitutional History and Military History) I never got encouragement from professors on how I could do better. They used to just tell me" we think that you should drop out of this course(a withdrawal) of get a D or maybe even an F. As it finally turned out I did manage to graduate with a B+ GPA!!!Amazing!!!!! But in order to do that I had to take a 2 year leave of absence since I came down with a common Yale virus called......."Sophomore Slump". I returned emboldened and more confident and started getting much better grades. I felt very socially isolated at Yale...I don't know if it was because I was a so-called "minority",or whether it was because I found myself spending most of my undergraduate years in the library, reading, studying for exams and grinding out term papers!!!! And the thing that really hit me the hardest was that after graduation I lost contact with the friends I knew since most everybody comes from a different state, county or foreign country...so all of your college friends are all scattered all over the place. So come Holiday time,I found it impossible to stay connected and share the holiday's with my college buddies. Those were very lonely times for me...and still are!!! Yeah...ummm...I started learning to play the violin in 5th grade...got good enough to be accepted into the famous High School of Music and the Performing Arts in New York City!!!Became the concert master of the High School's Chamber Music Society;the Assistant Concert Master of the Senior Orchestra, won a position in the first violin section to participate in an International Youth Symphony Orchestra Competition in :Lausanne Switzerland at the young age of 17 and was the concert master of that orchestra's pop music program.....And then as a freshman at Yale after my very first audition for a violin spot in an orchestra to be told that "my fingers were not where they should be for my age"...it was like being stabbed in the back...It was such a heartbreaking moment that I buried my violin and have stopped playing it ever since!!! It was traumatic for me actually!!! But now...many years later...I am much better for the experience because I have taken up the piano which I love tremendously. So there you have my story. The trials and tribulations of a Yale undergraduate who after much blood, sweat and tears...yes let me emphasize the tears....finally earned and received that precious Yale sheepskin!!! Hurray!!! Boolah Boolah y'all! Feel free to stay in touch if I can be of any assistance.

Hi! Can you plz talk about what the Yale curriculum requirements are like because I’m sort of confused on that. I’m trying to decide between Brown and Yale and I understand that Brown has an open curriculum but I’m confused on what Yale’s curriculum
ashdjfk i'm a freshman and i'm so confused about the whole course selection process, it seems extra chaotic this year (also i lament the loss of the famous experience that is yale's butteries 😔)
biggest F in the chat for butteries not existing this year 😔 & ahhh yikes, yeah, shopping period is 1000% gonna be extra wild this year💔 would a video w advice on how to go about it help?? cuz i actually started shopping for Fall 2020 courses cuz i was procrastinating🤣 what aspect of it would you like me to focus on??

Okay so... I’ve a question, when are you supposed to hear if you got an interview? And if you don’t get one, is that a bad sign or do you still have chances of getting in? 🥺🥲😣
Ouu eyyy welcome to the fam!!! 😤👏 also thank ya for reminding me aha- a friend suggested adding what sub count i’m at in video descriptions & you just reminded me to start doing that
Ouuu good question! They have several different dinning plans (hospitality.yale.edu/undergraduate-meal-plan-options). First year, you’re required to choose the “full dinning plan.” As an upperclassman, you can choose differently. Depending on your financial aid award letter, though, this cost may get covered by yale scholarships
oufff aha thats hard to answer. it really depends on what class and its demand that semester. i’ve had experiences along the spectrum of possibilities. u can usually get the classes u want , but it varies
Thank you for bringing up this video- What I said in my video merely encompassed some observations from freshman year. But I also wanted to add a disclaimer that there are much more deep-rooted issues-as there are at any school-than the ones I mentioned in the video.
