I've always had rescue or pound puppies, I decided I wanted a big dog ( I'm a big fella at 6'6") that I didn't have to bend over to pet. I did all my research and Danes were one of the first breeds I crossed off my list due to their health issues and short life span. I finally settled on Scottish Deer Hounds as my first pure bred big dog. Then my wife got a text from a work friend about looking for a home for a 1 year old Dane that needed a good home. I agreed to allow a visit. Long story short , I took on another rescue, and I'm so in love with the Great Dane breed, I'll never feel complete without a big, goofy, needy, loving, hurty 😅, Dane in my life.
Over the years I've had 1 male dane, 2 female danes, 1 mastadane/daniff, and 1 english mastiff. I'm in the process of getting another english mastiff puppy right now. I loved all of them and they were all great dogs. I have to say that the mastadane and the english mastiff were the most loving and docile. The danes weren't agressive or aloof - just not as emotionally bonded as the mastiffs. But I would have either breed and recommend them as the best dogs ever. The down-side to mastiffs are the drooling, but worth it.
My dogs weights - Mastidane (200 lbs), English mastiff (185 lbs), male dane (165 lbs), female danes (145 & 95 lbs). The second was a rescue and she was tiny for a dane.
@@markh.williamsauthor7286 My wife and I when we got together got a Great Dane pup that ended up getting 230 pounds in the summer skinnies and 250 in the winter. The Mastiffs didn't look so big at the Dog park when he was around and you couldn't walk him down town without someone wanting to take a photo of him. The vet told us he was a throwback Great Dane when they was used for hunting big game.
I have 3 male great danes! A black 9 year old senior we rescued years back named Gunner (already named so we kept it), a gorgeous blue merel ... Cooper.... a very fit muscular sweet almost 3 year old we've had since 8 weeks, and our youngest 7 month old Harliquin dane....Ozzie. we love them so much and they are a ton of work but. All worth it. They are truly a special breed. Very loving and sensitive but. Will give their life for you if they would need to. ❤
Now even on a raw diet, good quality premium dog food that doesn’t have fillers and a bunch of by products and so forth you can still get the same results, not only that but with proper exercise and a proper diet you can easily have you Dane live past years, the world record for the longest loving Dane is 17 my friend. The reason why they love so litle is because people feed shot kibble and don’t exercise them and think they can keep them at home all day without and stimulation
The Irish Wolfhound is the tallest at 37 inches and can hit up to 190 pounds. My uncle had a kennel of them bred in the 1950's, 60's and 70's for Wolf hunting to take overseas and up north. What I like about the Irish Wolfhound is they have the least amount of Mastiff in them that gives them that extra speed and power.

I love comparing those 2 giants, they are both protective due to their large size

my mastidane & my english mastiff lived to 10. My female danes were 13 & 14 and my male dane was almost 14 when he passed.

Thank you for this great video
Thanks great video, I've been considering a family dog for a long, long time I think the great dane is the breed for us
That's awesome!
If u feed the Great Dane a raw diet and give them 2-3 hours of exercise daily , can they live to 10+?

My great dane that ate a raw diet is now 11 and healthy, my great dane that I fed kibble died before 7
I have always read the Scottish Deerhound are taller.
@Harshid P kangals and bully kuttas might be heavier/larger but not taller.
@Harshid P no thier not kangals get around the same height and bully mutt as don’t even come near their height
@@madginger3634 no kangal and Great Danes have very similar height and weight the bulky kutta has similar weight but not height
