Bisscute is a good reviewer. And thorough.
I think she is a golfer.
@@ianthomas1201maybe a nihilist?
I dunno, sometimes I'm tempted to throw a coffee cup at her head for not paying attention. All I'm saying is, I saw her foot go over the line, at least once.
Just joking guys, I love Biss very much ❤️❤️❤️
Well, that's just like, your opinion, man
@@deepermind4884 Woah man, we can't say things like that. Its against the rules. Am I the only one around here who gives a crap about the rules?
When Walter tried to commit Donnie's ashes to the water, the wind blew them into the air. Even in death, Donnie was out of his element.
The first time I watched Big Lebowski, I thought it was just okay. I had no plans to see it again.
About a year later I was having a BBQ and a friend who hadn't seen it (I think I had bought the DVD to watch it) wanted to watch it right there. Many others there thought that was a great idea. So I gave in and joined in to hang out with the group and watch it. Zero expectations. I just relaxed, settled down, didn't focus on the plot, and just casually watched it.
I was absolutely SHOCKED. It was AMAZING.
And what made it amazing for me was the delivery. How the script, the performances, the chemistry, the synergies, the directing, the shots, the pacing, the audio, all of it, and how everything just came together. It was packed with personality from each moment to each moment. Each moment packed with magic. I had totally missed this my first watch, because I had been focusing on the plot and trying to piece together where it was going. I just didn't have the mindset to get into the movie's rhythm and take it all in as a tapestry.
Now, of course, it's my favorite comedy.
Exactly! It was on the second viewing for some reason, that I found the movie to be brilliant.
Yeah, you eventually realize that the plot resolves itself and is basically inconsequential. It only really serves as a reason for these quirky and oddball characters to interact and bounce off each other.
Yeah, this one is easier to appreciate after multiple views.
It's amazing how a second viewing really can tie that movie together.
Very similar experience for me. Saw it in the movie theater when I was a senior in HS. TBH, I was a bit disappointed by it. Sophomore year of college, one of my friends rented it and became fixated with it. I watched it again, it was totally different on the second viewing. It's not "haha" funny; it's a lot more subtle sort of humor. The first viewing I was way too wrapped up in the story to appreciate what the film was doing. The Coen brothers are geniuses.
This is one of those films that gets better every time you watch it.
IMO, it requires a minimum of 2 viewings to even judge it. The first time you take in the story elements, and then after that you can appreciate what the film is doing.
23:02 that serious look on her face trying to see what's on the notepad.. HILARIOUS.. LOL!
White Russian cocktail is quite nice. Vodka, Kahlua or Tia Maria and cream. The cream takes some of the harshness away from the vodka. I recommend going 2 parts cream to 1 of vodka and 1 of coffee licquor. You can also make it into a full milkshake with some vanilla ice cream and half a pint of milk.
Change the vodka to rum and you've almost got a Bushwacker.😂
Add ice cream & chocolate syrup & you've got a variant Mudslide.
I made a White Russian while watching this reaction. Here is my recipe:
1. Fill a rocks glass with ice.
2. Add 60 ml vodka.
3. Add 60 ml coffee liqueur.
4. Stir to mix the ingredients. (You now have a Black Russian. Add cream for a White Russian):
5. Float 30 ml cream by pouring it around the inside edge of the glass, allowing it to cascade down the sides without stirring.
By not stirring in the cream, I think you get a more interesting flavor and appearance. I use oat milk creamer, because it's vegan and awesome.
Cocktails are for the fashionable or hip. Whiskey is my friend. I can't drink it neat; I need some water.
I prefer half and half in a White Russian. The full-on cream is too rich for me.
I know I'm going shopping tomorrow, so I'm gonna pick up the ingredients and have me a White Russian or two! Haven't had one in a long time and now I'm craving.
Your reaction really tied the channel together, did it not?
Fuckin A man
Fuckin' A! :)
This is one of those movies that are in my “never get tired of watching this” category
I'll second a common sentiment: You'll love it more and more every time you watch it. My first reaction: "Oh, that was fun. Okay." Second: "Wow, this is really fun." Third: "OMG, this is brilliant." Fourth: (silent awe)
I agree. I think the reason is perhaps on first watching you expect the plot to be the main thing. But really it's about the characters imo. Once you shift perspective, the genius of the movie is easier to see.
It’s also because so much time has passed and it was pretty influential sooo a lot has been done since then partially inspired by this films “style” but when it first came out. I was blown away and entranced by its weirdness and quirkiness.
"Some China man took them from me in Korea" one of the funniest lines in the movie
Why is it the funniest? I hope you don’t think it’s funny because of the juxtaposition of Chinaman with Korea. Chinese forces fought in Korea in the side of North Korea. So if you thought the joke was about the Big Lebowski’s racism and inability to tell Asian nationalities apart, you were wrong. Now that you know that the Chinese military fought in the Korean War, do you still think it’s the funniest joke?
@@MarcosElMalo2 Jesus, Why are you so angry???? I'm sorry, I'll never laugh again
@@MarcosElMalo2 Also I never said he was Racist. I don't believe in Racism
In case you are not aware, US forces during the Korean War actually fought Chinese soldiers. So I'm sure the comment sounds funny, but it's absolutely based in reality. Over a million Chinese soldiers were in Korea fighting against US/UN forces with the North Koreans.
The Dude's choice of cocktail, the White Russian:
* 5 parts vodka
* 3 parts Kahlúa, or any coffee liqueur
* 2 parts fresh cream
Stur slowly in an old-fashioned glass, add ice. Lose the cream for a Black Russian variation. You can also mix yourself a White Cuban using rum instead of vodka.
The dude abides.... love this film, some of the humour is subtle, I find it funnier the more I watch it. 😊
"This is what happens, Larry, when you find a stranger in the alps!!!"
Yes, this is from the censored TV version of "The Big Lebowski." John Goodman came up with that line himself when the actors were redubbing their dialog.
this is one of those movies where you either love it or hate it and i ended up loving it even though it took me more than one watch to appreciate it for what it is. now it’s one of my top comfort movies i will put on in the background and recite lines throughout my viewing. 😂❤️
You watched "No country for old men" also by the Cohen brothers.
Which is completely different tonally. Not comical at all.
The guy at the end is in quite a few films. He's in a Western called "Tombstone" that you would love.
That rug really tied the room together, DID IT NOT?!!
'Bunny, did she hop away?' - LoL! 😃
1:36 Las Angle-ess, on the Californie way. I think Same Elliott was just putting on extra inflection to speak like a cowboy. He has his usual Texan accent but he doesn't use outdated pronunciations. They remind me of Grapes of Wrath and the way characters spoke during the Dust Bowl and Great Depression.
This movie gets better the more times you watch it.
Yeah? Well, that's just like, your opinion man.
You said it, man!
The other Coen Brothers movie you reacted to was No Country for Old Men. If you want to do some others, I'd recommend Fargo, Raising Arizona, True Grit, O Brother Where Art Thou?, and Blood Simple.
For comedies, let me recommend Galaxy Quest, Some Like It Hot, Dr. Strangelove, Groundhog Day, Kung Fu Hustle, and Election.
Points for the good Mozart catch.
Please, please, please add the comedy Clerks to a future poll.
Eventually all the Jay & Silent Bob movies... preferably in order.
You spoke about the 'Dude's' (Jeff Bridges) cloths. They were all his personal cloths that he wears when lounging around and not doing a movie or out in public.
I'm glad you finally got to see this one.
It's one of my favorites, in no small part due to the subtle meta humor. One of the most important aspects is that it's a deconstruction and satire of the detective movie. Instead of a keen detective relentlessly pursuing a case, sniffing out clues from people desperately trying to hide it only to uncover the ultimate truth bringing the story to a stunning important conclusion, this movie is the total opposite. The Dude is unwilling, not interested in anything except bowling and coasting in life, but is forced to endure this mystery with clues being dumped into his lap, being summoned by everyone exactly when he's trying to get away from it all, and ultimately figures out the mystery for it to not matter in the slightest. For the Dude, it's a journey he endures, not a quest to be undertaken.
You liked the music, especially the Creedence which is great, and you caught a lot of the mystery elements and clues. As far as the humor goes, it definitely gets even better when you see it a second or third time because you notice more and more details.
For more Cohen brothers goodness, try Fargo, Burn After Reading, O Brother Where Art Thou?, and The Man Who Wasn't There. Maybe later on check out The Ballad of Buster Scruggs.
Fargo, Blood Simple, No Country for Old Men, The Hudsucker Proxy, Raising Arizona, Millers Crossing... The Coen Brothers are the best!
The fact you know the name of the song Lacrimosa by Mozart leads me to believe you might enjoy the movie "Amadeus."
You asked what movie of theirs you'd watched, it was No Country for Old Men. Fargo is very funny and also by these guys (the movie, not the TV show), it was made before Lebowski and it will reveal the reason they kept telling Donny to shut up.
O Brother, Where Art Thou? is another very popular movie of the Coen's. I really like Miller's Crossing, but I don't even remember it coming out in the theater. It was one of their earlier movies from 1990.
Going to add "A Serious Man" to this list
Burn After Reading is one of their best, and funniest. The Man Who Wasn't There is massively underrated; I don't think many have seen it, but it's one of Billy Bob Thorton's better performances.
Fargo is a masterpiece. Really hope she watches that.
Would recommend Fargo as well, along with Miller's Crossing, A Serious Man, Raising Arizona, No Country for Old Men....for starters.
7:09 Brandt shows The Dude respect by calling him by his desired moniker, I like that detail too.
This is the first and still only movie that by the time it was over, my sides literally hurt from laughing so hard. Nothing else has come close 😂😂
Coen Brothers, faves... Their most acclaimed works include Blood Simple (1984), Raising Arizona (1987), Miller's Crossing (1990), Barton Fink (1991), Fargo (1996), The Big Lebowski (1998), O Brother, Where Art Thou? (2000), No Country for Old Men (2007)...
You forgot Burn After Reading and The Man Who Wasn't There. Billy Bob Thorton is really good... hell the whole cast is great.
The Hudsucker Proxy is pretty good too@@Shifuede
“Take her easy” is like a southern expression. It’s a variation of “take it easy” or “take care” or something like that. It’s a common expression.
I think it's difficult for many Americans who are younger to appreciate this, and I can't imagine how this looks to a non-American. Suffice it to say it is a very tightly culture bound film. I appreciate it, but I am a young Boomer and saw people like this around me on a daily basis. (Many of whom, have now become crazy in an opposite way)
I’m an older Gen X, and I thought the same thing. I also agree with your final assertion.🇺🇸🍻👍🏼
Brit here. I love it. Top five, easily.
A young boomer? Those don't exist.
Is that anything like saying a hardworking Gen-Xr is impossible to find, or did you not mean it that way? I am considered 2 years from the line on the young side. I was post Vietnam in the Boomers of the later years as I was still in elementary school during the worst of that war. Trust me, those 15 years made a huge difference in how we grew up to see the world. So, I'll assume you didn't mean it in a bigoted way and won't make a judgement about you. Okay?@@DustinHawke
@@duanebidoux6087Yep, I was born at the tail-end of the Boomers. My parents were REAL Boomers and had me when they were young.
I love that you generally get the tone and humor of the movie, despite the language and cultural divides. It was fun watching you react.
BlissFlix: "Oh no, Bunny. What happend? Did she hop away?"
LOL
Is even funnier 'cos she did hop away.
Even better, her license plate says LUPIN; it's clearest when you see her car crashed into the fountain.
Personally, this movie gets better with age. It is layered enough with americana and is open to many reads by as many viewers. A strong point in its favor. And it's immensely quotable.
"Raising Arizona" is another one by the Coen brothers. I think that one would make you laugh more. It is definitely funny, quirky and has a good story with more of a "normal" ending that you would probably like better than the ending of this one.
"Raising Arizona" is hilarious!! It's one of my favorites and John Goodman also stars in it.
The Dude's drink of choice is a White Russian. It's five parts vodka, 3 parts cream, 2 parts kahlua. In American/ Imperial units, that's 1 and 2/3 ounces of vodka, 1 ounce cream, 2/3 ounce kahlua. I don't know what that would be in metric, but that's a White Russian. :)
I'm so happy you reacted to this! Thank you! I love your channels so much! "Donnie gave Dude a hug!" haha Keep them coming!
Do you see what happens, Larry ?
Do you see what happens, Larry ?
Do you see what happens when you find a stranger in the alps?!
I didn't see this in a theater, I watched on a VHS rental around the year 1998. Watched it to the end and immediately rewound and watched it again. The character of Walter kind of miffed me because I was a Medic in Iraq in 1991. Walter denigrated those who were in combat in Iraq, but I liked him. In some ways I thought that what I experienced in Iraq wasn't worthy, but as I got older (I'm 60yo now) I realized that I did experience horror. I earned the CMB. I was in the 3ID. Some memories of Iraq are seared in my memory.
I think this is a movie that gets better with every viewing. The first time I saw it I did not think I would ever watch it again. Now it gets so many laughs out of me.
IMO top 5 movie of all time.
Really enjoyed this. At some point you should see Raising Arizona, also from the Coen Brothers. It's just as funny as Lebowski, but it was done in a completely different style. It really is remarkable just how versatile the Coens are; they're masters at every genre of film they try, from intense dramas to absurd comedies and everything in between.
Definitely Raising Arizona.
It's a lot of fun.
A plot keeps trying to form around the Dude, but he's so nonchalant that it just fails to coalesce
Great reaction once again! The Coen brothers make fantastic films. They have their own style. Many of their films are funny as well!
Definitely. IMO, Burn After Reading is tied with The Big Lebowski for their best, with Fargo and The Man Who Wasn't There tied for second.
“did she hop away” is hilarious
The pencil rubbing joke was pure genius.
White Russian
4 parts Vodka (60ml)
2 parts Kahlua (30ml)
2 parts half and half (30ml)
Mix all with crushed ice in a shaker, shake it strongly.
Strain it in a cooled whisky glass.
Out of a cocktail book I have.
I loved your reaction. So . . . the beverage: A Caucasian = A White Russian. Same drink, just a different name for it.
Here's the recipe I like to use:
2 ounces Vanilla Vodka
2 Ounces Kahlua
1 ounce heavy cream
Add ice to a lowball glass, then pour in the vodka, then the Kahlua, then add the cream by pouring it over an inverted spoon. Gently stir. ENJOY!
"You're killing your father Larry!"...hehe first time i watched this movie i didnt get it. 2nd time it was the funniest movie i ever saw.
Based on a very famous Philip Marlowe Detective novel. THE BIG SLEEP by famous author Raymond Chandler. The Big Sleep has been adapted into movies, radio and TV shows many times over the decades.
The Dude abides... yes, it is comforting. 😁
My favorite drink is the White Russian that the dude loves. To make it, you need a medium-sized cocktail glass, three or four ice cubes, a shot of 'top shelf' Vodka, a shot a Kahlua. and top it off with half-n-half. Very good.
Some do call it a Caucasian, since it has cream/half-n-half. There is also a Black Russian, that does not have the cream or any milk products.
Well of course it's all about the rug. The rug really tied the room together.
The cowboy's pronunciation of Los Angeles is closer to the Spanish than the usual American pronunciation.
Not really closer. In Spanish you'd say ahng-hel.
It's more like how people would have pronounced it the 1920's or 1930's, when they hadn't quite settled on the Anglicized pronunciation.
You watched "No Country For Old Men" from the Coen Brothers. They have a bunch of great films, "Raising Arizona" , "Fargo", "O'Brother where are thou" and "True Grit (2010)"" are really good to great films
"Take her easy" is colloquial language where "her" means "it". Not used so much nowadays, which fits the character since he's apparently meant to be some sort of cowboy almost literally.
In Canada it's "Take er easy"
A cowboy is never homeless
Your reaction would have to be considered accurate in that the Coen brothers style of comedy is subtle even when it’s found in something violent. They aren’t trying to make us laugh in a hysterical way.
A White Russian (AKA a Caucasian) is made with vodka, Kahlua, and heavy cream. The Dude makes his with half and half instead of cream. I prefer them that way myself. Heavy cream is heavy.
This movie is like a smooth, mellow high on a lazy Sunday afternoon.
Glad you enjoyed the movie. It's certainly a unique type of humour, not laugh out loud, but it's one of my favourites. You should watch some more Joel & Ethan Cohen. (Fargo, O Brother Where Art Though, Barton Fink, Hudsucker Proxy and more).
White Russian: vodka, Kahlua and cream over ice.
A 'Recepticle' is a container. Anything used to hold or store things. My translator suggests 'Recipientul' in Romanian.
I would say that the movie I laughed the most at was Arthur with Dudley Moore. Raising Arizona is pretty funny too.
one of my favorite movies in the 90's !!!!!!
You reacted to No Country for Old Men. You should watch Fargo (1996). It's considered one of the very best Coen Brothers films.
You're the first reactor I've come across who recognized Mozart's Requiem playing in the background of the scene with the ransom note. And you had the exact same reaction to it that I did. 😆
Glad to impress haha, thanks for watching
I love this movie so much. It just gets better. Glad there was some enjoyment watching it.
The movie (and books and so on) it's loosely an homage to, The Big Sleep, the one with Bogart, is also among my favorite Noir films.
The rug really ties the movie together…
The COEN BROTHERS are two of the most legendary directors.
No makeup biss is best biss. You’re so naturally pretty.
What a beautiful and funny reactor. Love the accent, too.
O Brother, Where Art Thou (2000) is my favorite Coen brothers movie, with an awesome soundtrack.
white russian is basically vodka, kahlua and cream or milk
The humor is very quirky and comes from its collection of oddball characters involved in this strange detective story. Eventually, you realize that the plot resolves itself and is ultimately inconsequential. The movie is all about these weird characters and the endlessly quotable dialogue.
Seems her favorite part was when The Dude got covered in Donnies ashes so what has that kind of humor. 😜
Other Cohen brothers movies like, Burn After Reading, Fargo, O Brother Where Art Thou?, and even The Ballad Of Buster Scruggs.
Third time watching your reaction. This movie. Theres Something about Mary, and Ferris Buehlers Day Off are movies to make me smile throughout the movie. The Dude is a classic character. 😊😊❤❤
This is one of the only films that gets better every time you watch it. Movies I would reccommend to you if you haven't seen is Spaceballs - 1987 and Fargo - 1996
oat sodas mean beers.. also could say barley pops
🥳 I played World of Warcraft in a guild called, Lebowski’s urban achievers. 🤷♂️😅👍
An all time favorite movie of mine, ty! 😊
I got introduced to White Russians and The Big Lebowski at the same time in College. Friend made me a huge White Russian in a large Taco Bell cup and put this movie on. I didn't quite get it the first time I watched it, but it just gets funnier every time you watch it. I once watched it doing the White Russian challenge, making one every time you see The Dude drinking one.
This film is pure magic and so uniquely comedic but it reveals itself more and more on every watch like all the best music it grows on you more and more after every watch.
You may have reacted to Fargo from the Coen brothers. Or No country for old men….
Great reaction. Also recommend more Coen Brothers gold in Barton Fink and A Serious Man. Not many reactors have taken on these films.
Was it " O Brother, Wherefore art thou?" Another great Cohen Bros film. As for this one, as quirky of a tale as it gets but as you said, very enjoyable! Poor dude..Hope Maude gave him another rug for his stud service. And Lebowski Sr? What a piece of work--If he'd got me beat up ,KO'd threatened, and played me like that? Would've told Walter to leave him on the floor-and got me a couple of boots in upside his head!
I mean he kinda found the money..so maude should pay him the 20K I think
The Dude! 🎳😋
Hello Biss,
This should really tie the room together.
*WHITE RUSSIAN*
Ingredients:
Ice
2 oz. Kahlúa
1 oz. vodka
1 oz. heavy cream
Directions:
Fill a glass with ice. In a small measuring cup, combine vodka and Kahlúa. Pour vodka mixture into glass, then pour cream over vodka and Kahlúa
Vodka, Kahlua and Cream - on the rocks. The Coens made this in the style of, and as an homage to, Raymond Chandler, who wrote L.A. private eye novels in the '40s - '50s dealing with the seedier side of life, and his protagonist Phillip Marlowe, was often drugged, beaten and made a scapegoat by bad guys and threatened, bullied and beaten by cops.
A Black Russian is Kahlua and Vodka. A White Russian adds cream. Add a splash of Coke and you have a Paralyzer
Her life was in your hands dude 😂 in that cutie accent of yours ❤
What is a White Russian made of?
A white Russian is a cocktail made with vodka, coffee liqueur (e.g., Kahlúa or Tia Maria) and cream served with ice in an old fashioned glass. Pour coffee liqueur and vodka into an old fashioned glass filled with ice. Float fresh cream on top and stir slowly. - I like to add a half shot of Amaretto and use Bailey's Irish Cream instead of half and half/cream, then top it off with some Starbucks Frappuccino, to mellow it a bit. an "Irish Orgasm" - Enjoy in Moderation!
1. Caucasian or White Russian: Ice Cubes
1⅓ Parts Absolut Vodka
1⅓ Parts Kahlúa
1⅓ Parts Cream
V 2.0 - The Orgasm drink comes in many forms. It can be druk as a cocktail or a shot. Some people add the cream, others don’t. The recipe for the perfect Orgasm: take a shaker with ice. Add the coffee liqueur, the amaretto and the bailey’s. Shakev eveything well and strain your Orgasm into an olf-fashioned glass. Use a shot glass if you like shots. You can add some cream if you like. Sometimes people use vodka with coffee and amaretto. Others like their Orgasm with triple sec, crème de cacao and vodka. Enjoy!
felt bad about this movie cause it came out around the same time as " Saving Private Ryan " and " Titanic " .... so it was kinda left in the dust .... but it caught up later on and is it great movie :)
Watch Arthur (81). Its stars the late Dudley Moore and he was wonderful in it.
Donnie, you’re out of your element ✌️
This will be fun! The dude abides Bisscute! 👍🏻🤠
This movie is, to a large extent, a deconstruction of a film noir mystery. In those movies, the private detective is hired, tries to solve the case, and get's jerked around, abused, lied to, beaten up, manipulated, etc by everyone until he finally figures out what actually happened. In this movie, The Dude just wants his rug back and never even cared about the mystery transpiring, but he gets sucked into it by all of the other characters who constantly invade his home to try to get the money, or whatever. It happens to be one of the most quotable cult classics of all time. I've lost track of how many times I've said "You're not wrong, you're just an asshole." to people.
Yes, White Russian is a great drink! You must try one. The Dude has 9 of them during the movie!
Vodka Kalua and cream
or Half-n-Half. It's a popular coffee creamer sold in the US that is half milk and half cream.
Absolutely love this movie!
the drink is White Russian. Russian for the vodka and white for the cream. Black Russian has no cream.
There's Something About Mary (1998)
A white Russian cocktail is made of Vodka, Kahlua, and cream. A black Russian is Vodka and Kahlua.
merci
