99% of investors should stick with a low cost index fund. Put money in every month and let it compound for decades. There are probably less than 10 people who have the ability to outperform the market year after year and I can assure you they are not working for a mutual fund company or working as a financial advisor.
Same!! I was trying to invest in VOO and put $50/month in. I could NOT figure out how to do this until someone kindly told me that is an Index Fund (have to buy at the stocks price) not an ETF (can do fractional investing).

Great video on index funds. You can't go wrong with picking ETFs or Index Funds, especially for beginners. Investing into and index that tracks the S&P 500 returns about 10.7% year over year on average. Your local bank offers less than 1/2 of 1% to hold onto your money. It's a no-brainer to go with ETFs or Index funds!
@@rookie4582 index funds are easier for passively investing since you can automate the process unlike (most) etfs. However i think etfs are better for brokerage accountants and index funds are better in roths.

Good stuff Brian. I personally love index funds/ETF's. It's a great way to make passive income. I love checking my account to see I got paid a dividend from one of my ETF's. Literally did nothing but buy the ETF and just watch the dividends come in monthly or quarterly (depending on how that particular ETF pays.)
@@MuvvLuvv lol lots of ETFs give dividends. VOO is a good one that follows the S&P500, it has a great expense ratio. You could try others like SPY which also follows the S&P500 but has a larger expense ratio. I personally like Vanguard due to their low expense ratios. The dividends depend on how much you have invested. So don't expect 100 dollars from only 1000 dollars invested into VOO. You can google a lot of this like their expense ratios, dividend yield, life time growth etc. then decide which is the best option for you
Brian. In the beginning you said you cannot buy Index Fund, which is true. Later in the video you said Index Fund vs. ETF. I think you meant Mutual Fund vs. ETF that track Index Fund. For example, VFIAX (Mutual Fund) vs VOO (ETF) that both track snp500 Index Fund.

For me personally, any investment that’s less than 3 % rate of returns I wouldn’t even bother to waste my time because you have to consider inflation as well which is eroding your purchasing power by 2-3 % a year on average and in 2022, US inflation rate hits 8.3 %
