Well, “Congratulations” is the Queen of passive aggressive songs 😂
The only album you can ear Young K’s rap in is the first album, The Day. He’s a good rapper (Jae, electric guitar, has a great flow too) but in the later albums he preferred not to continue to rap.
When DAY6 debuted in 2015 the bands in the kpop scene were very few. At the beginning there were 6 members, Junhyeok (keyboard) left in 2016 after the first album. Officially Junhyeok’s contract was terminated “for personal reasons” but some voices said it’s because he dated a fan. At the end of 2021 Jae (electric guitar, the guy with the glasses) didn’t renovate his contract with JYP and left the group, so now DAY6 is a four members band: Sungjin (rhythm guitar), Young K (bass), Wonpil (keyboard and synth) and Dowoon (drums). Sungjin, Young K and Wonpil are all indicated as main vocalist. My boys all have a beautiful voice (yes, they all can sing, even the drummer often uses his low pitch to contrast the high voices of others and create fantastic harmonies), very different from each other and with unique tones. DAY6 have a unique sound, they can range in many genres, from ballads, to pure rock, to 80’s disco music, with a lot of experimentation. They write their own music (Young K, bass, is the lyricist together with Wonpil, keyboard and synth) and all the harmonies and backing vocals are made by them. DAY6 have an amazing discography and idols in general are huge fan of a lot of their songs (like Seventeen, Stray Kids, Twice…).
My advice is still to listen to the songs in chronological order to better understand the growth and the evolution of DAY6 music. But if you want to dive into their music with some of their best songs I can recommend you You Were Beautiful right after Congratulations for the MV’s storyline, then Love Me or Leave Me, I Need Somebody, Sweet Chaos, I’m Serious, I Wait, Days Gone By, Shoot Me, Goodbye Winter, Afraid, Letting Go, I’ll Try (be careful, the harmonies could literally kill you), Colors, You Make Me, I Like You and I Smile to begin with the Korean discography. If (Mata Aetara), Breaking Down and Stop the Rain, Japanese discography, if you like a pure rock sound.
He also rapped in their 2nd album "daydream" and he did have some raps from a few songs in the Entropy album and some of his collabs but yep it's not as much as he wanted to focus more on singing. And he only adds rap parts on a song if he thinks it fits the song and doesn't sound out of place.

Young K officially debuted as the main rapper of the group. He is known as one of the top/elite trainee in jyp. He was already popular for his talents even during pre debut, he even had some featuring on some songs from his seniors as a rapper before he debuted. I'm not sure if anyone has told you or you knew already but most day6 members got in to jyp to become an idol trainee minus Dowoon and Jae who both came in as a drummer and guitarist. The reason day6 happened was because Sungjin was really bad at dancing even after years of training so normally when trainees have not shown improvements, they'll have to leave the company but jyp did not want to lose Sungjin's amazing voice (as they should), btw according to their vocal trainer, he was already so good at singing she didn't have anything to teach him so they made a band entirely just for him lmao (imagine being that talented the company did not want to lose you😭) so they took a few trainees on the company who can already play the instruments. Wonpil's parents own a piano academy so he knows how to play it. Young K knew how to play the guitar so he was originally the lead guitarist but Jae came in who is supposedly the better guitarist so he took that position and Young K had to learn the bass. Idk much about Junhyeok on how he learned the keyboard since he was only on the group for a little while but I remember him being a great player. Dowoon came in after auditioning to become a drummer specifically for day6 so he only trained for 3 months.
Now going back to Young K, he was known as one of the top trainees in jyp who is often coined as the "triple threat" because he is good at all vocal, rap, and dance. He often refuses that and humbly denies it but his co-jyp idols and the idols who trained at jyp before with him always mentions about how he was a great dancer and how he was a top trainee and jyp and he keeps denying it even though there are literally proofs from his trainee days lmao. But until recently he mentioned on his radio show that JYP has this system where they count all of the scores of the trainees from their monthly evaluations and who ever becomes the top 3 will go to new york to train with some of the best dance, vocal, and rap trainers and he was included in that top 3 so he went to new york. So knowing all that you'd assume he'd debut on an idol group. He actually almost, he was in the original lineup for got7 but he was put in a band because he couldn't do acrobatics (it is very important for male groups in jyp back then) and he had a very bad knee injury too, it was so bad he had to go to the hospital because it becomes so painful when he dances for a long time. The day he finally learned to do the acrobatics and showed it to his teacher, the staff then offered him to join the band instead lmao😭 the timing was just so bad he hesitated many time to join the band (after all he trained to be an idol for so many year) but good thing he decided to be in day6 and now day6 is the nation's superband in Korea and I couldn't be more proud.
They currently have the most charting song in melon top 1000 with 20 songs in the entire bg in Korea. All of their songs on their latest album charted in the top 100. And their older songs are also charting AGAIN on melon. 7 year old song You were beautiful just charted in top 10 earlier this morning and 5 year old song Time of our life is not so far behind with just being in top 12. It is very hard to chart in melon even for current active groups so what more for an older song. This just proves that day6 has timeless music. Even when most kpop groups are going for the trendy sounds with songs being just over 2 mins. Here comes day6's latest album from last month with over 7 songs with all of them being over 3 mins and 2 of them being even 4mins long. Day6 mentioned how they don't care about the trend sounds but rather, they want to make music that can be heard by any generation and I think they're doing that successfully.

I wonder if you could react to the English ver of this song? although you don't really have to lol and you can just listen to it on your own but I recommend listening to them cuz as a big kpop and kband fan who stans a lot of groups. I can confidently say that day6 is my favorite group when it comes to making eng versions of their songs because they don't just translate it word by word but the members (mostly Young K and Jae as they're the fluent English speakers) actually re-write the entire song leaving only the main idea of the song. So you won't see them translate this line exactly the way it is translated in English but rather they'd make an entire different line and it works so well because most of the time kpop groups just translates the Korean lyrics word by word into English and it just doesn't sound right and can sound a bit cringe sometimes but since day6 re-writes the entire song, it just feels like a proper English song but the idea of the song and the meaning of it is the same. Also the non English speaking members really practice their English pronunciations you won't hear the Korean accents a lot of times (though I don't mind it too if they have heavy accents) but it's still nice to hear an eng ver of a song where you can actually understand what they're saying without having to look at the lyrics.
Also I really recommend watching their live performances cuz they're one of those groups who are just so much better to watch live, they love to make adlibs and Young K especially can get really crazy on the adlibs, he always does it differently he's crazy. And I think that's the only thing I had a bit regret on killing voice, aside from the fact that they mostly sang their most well-known songs but they almost didn't do any adlibs on killing voice when that's one thing most fans love about them. I mean I get it at the same time I'd love to see them showcase it there since they're insane vocalists.
